Photos and Description of this 6 bedroom holiday farmhouse in Periana

Sleeps12, heated pool,hot tub, games room,boules,softball tennis,

The 6 bedroom farmhouse, although built just over 15 years ago with all modern features , has been designed in the traditional Andalucian way. It sits on 10 acres of private land nestled in the lovely valley that is Lake Vinuela with stunning big sky views of mountains, olive groves and with the lake on its doorstep. A typical Spanish village with bars and restaurants is only 10mins away.

The property’s main attractions apart from the beautiful well equipped large farmhouse the landscaped gardens with numerous eating and relaxing places, the stunning 360 degree views, and the tranquil setting are the facilities at the property for non stop entertainment for all the family whatever their age. The farmhouse has its own lagoon styled pool (heated if required) which is set on the south side in a generous terrace containing a poolside bar, hot tub and a large sun lounge area . This sits beside a sanded boules court overlooked by your very own outdoor Chiringuito (covered eating place) with BBQ & Paellera. On a lower level is a trampoline. On the west side is a softball tennis court . On the north side is an equipped fitness area.

Situated in the basement of the property is a large games room with a full size pool table, table tennis & darts. It also boasts its own bar & freeviewTV. There is also large screen Wii. games.

New for 2013 is the art and craft barn. A place to get creative, whatever the age and maybe a break from the all day sun.

There is also a Canadian style canoe available with life jackets.

We also have 3 sets of golf clubs & 2 mountain bikes.

There are also many tranquil areas within the house and grounds to get away from it all with a good book and a glass of wine such as the Old Threshing Square.

Welcome return to this beautiful villa

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit having stayed here in 2010 and we managed to reunite the entire family again plus three more grandchildren! The villa and surrounding area are as spectacular as ever and we have some more treasured memories to take home with us.

It was truly a pleasure to stay in a holiday villa so well stocked with home essentials and Anne and Bill's thoughtfulness was much appreciated.

Maria looked after us very well and was always available, if not in person then on the phone, to give us advice on where to eat, shop etc. Nothing was too much trouble for her.

We had a lovely time and hope to repeat the experience at some time in the future. Only sorry we didn't get to see Anne and Bill.

Again wonderful

  • 5 of 5

Our second visit to the villa, was as great as the first.

The villa is wonderful, even more seating areas have been added than last year. Maria was there to welcome us and be at our beacon call throughout the stay, with the few little niggles that arose during the stay.

The house is designed to make you instantly feel at home, with comfortable interiors and a very relaxing exterior. Paella ring and various bbqs were used every evening!

The 'lakeside' in the title I fear is now slightly misleading and the lake is shrinking and the lake is now a 20 minute cross country mountain bike ride away.

Another great holiday, thank you Bill, Anne and Maria

Owner's Response: So glad you all had a lovely time & that Maria looked after you. After a couple of years of no winter rain I'm afraid the lake has receded, we can only hope that Mother nature corrects this with some nice well needed rain this year. Hope you all manage to come back again & the Lake is back where it should be.

What can we say - we are 3 families who have been away for the past 6 years together, but this year the property has exceeded all expectations, the photo's do not do this property justice - you do not need to leave this place, it has everything. Mark & Maria have been so helpful and even insisted on making me Paella for my Birthday, nothing was too much trouble for them. Again thank you Bill & Anne your home is amazing, we do not normally return to a property - but we will be back next year!!!!

Absolute Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Wow - that was our first impression. A group of 14 of us arrived at Manquillo at we were greeted with prosecco and olives by the stunning pool area and we could't believe we were getting to stay there. As we looked around the outside, there are tables and relaxing areas everywhere, in shade or in sun. The interior of the house has an equal wow factor - something you don't always get with these villa. This is all without even mentioning the view and the setting!!

The house has everything you could want and need. Plenty of toiletries, linens, towels and the kitchen utensils and fit are enviable. We BBQ'ed most nights and used the paella ring to make a delicious paella, set off nicely by the lemons that grow on the trees on the property.

Couldn't recommend this villa more - we are already trying to book it again. We were so well looked after the whole time by Mark and Marie.

A fantastic holiday...

  • 5 of 5

I don't often feel driven to write reviews of villas as the pictures usually do justice to their environment, however this is one occasion where they truly fail to convey how lovely the setting and villa are.

Maria and Mark were incredibly warm and helpful on our arrival and throughout the 9 days we spent here. The house is clearly a home designed with fun in mind from the mini-tennis court to pool, kayaks and grounds. The fact that the owners Bill and Anne live there most of the year makes for a very warm environment compared to the sterility of some rental villas. There are poolside bars, multiple eating areas, and a barbeque that would happily grace most American backyards. A library, outside bar area, flourishing lemon trees and well-stocked kitchen were just some of the highlights.

We had a fantastic time and would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to escape from the stresses of life, but close enough to amenities that you never felt cut off. A car is a must, and one with a decent tyres is sensible due to the track that leads to the property! But that's no complaint, just an observation.

Thanks again to all of you - we would definitely come back.

Your own slice of Paradise.

It's difficult to summarise this luxury villa, simply because words can't explain how amazing it is. The photos and reviews are great, but until you actually visit, you can't appreciate the beauty and absolute perfection of this villa. To be honest, I don't want too many people to find out about it, as I may not be able to get a week in the future!!

This was our second visit, 2 weeks this time round, as we were 'gutted' to leave after a week last time (2012), two families with 5 children between us from 14 months to 8 yrs. When we managed to get them out of the pool, there was plenty of entertainment, from tennis, basketball, boules, craft barn, hot tub.......to playing hide and seek in the extensive gardens. Or just simply relax and ask one of the kids to pick you some fresh fruit from the gardens! Night time entertainment around the bar can be quiet and cosy looking at the stars or create your own kids disco, and don't worry about the neighbours as your completely private!!

The days are very hot, but we ventured out onto the lake with the traditional style canoe. Our property manager Mark even took it down to the lakeside for us! Mark and Maria were always easily contactable should a problem occur, but we used them mainly for advice on the surrounding towns and markets, very friendly and great hosts.

If your considering a villa in this area, then look no further, you will not be disappointed. Only 20 mins from the coast and Aqua parcs should you wish to venture out, but this is a lakeside villa in the rolling mountains which you simply won't want to leave!! Thank you Bill & Ann and once again thank you Mark and Maria x

The property nestles in a valley that is Lake Vinuela. Surrounded by olive groves & a lake with the backdrop of the Tejeda mountain range, of which Mount Maroma (2100m high) stands proud. The house is reached from the main road by a slow winding 3 kilometre track through fields and olive groves with fabulous views all the way. Once reaching the property you enter by electronic gates then park, by the house, in a 4 car covered car port (out of the sun) and you are in over 10 acres of property land of which 2 acres are fenced off garden area around the farmhouse.

Our typical Spanish local village of Periana is a short drive away (10 mins.) on a country lane through orange groves. The village has shops, market, banks with ATMs, bars & restaurants & has many fiestas in the summer.

There is also a very impressive restaurant/bar just across the valley (approx 1km away). There are also 2 lovely bar/restaurants that sit directly on the edge of the lake.

Just 20 mins away at nearby Velez Malaga there is a shopping mall which includes a large supermarket that can cater for all of the needs of holiday makers whatever the group size.

The property sits near the lakeside so walking/biking couldn't be easier as you can just set off from your own front door into the countryside. We have many details of circular walks that are kept at the property .

There are many wild flowers & birds to spot including birds of prey, reference books provided.

The valley is surrounded by wonderful typically Spanish villages, with excellent bars & restaurants.

In Torre del Mar (25mins) there is a large sandy beach & a water park. Once reaching Torre del Mar there are numerous beaches to explore both east and west.

There are many notable places to visit, by car.

Malaga city (the old picturesque part houses the Picasso museum) which is 45mins away.

Granada with the fabulous Alhambra Moorish Palace is 1hr 30mins.

Cordoba a lovely small walled city with it's unique multiple arched Mosque with a Cathedral set inside is just 2hrs. Seville ,the capital of Andalusia, is just 2hr. 30mins away. All possible to visit in a day..... More locally you will find some Roman baths just outside Periana & in Nerja the historic caves are worth a visit.
