Peaceful, Tranquil Farm Setting To Recharge Your Batteries

Bedrooms 2
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

2 bedroom, 1 bathroom overlooking green pastures and grazing livestock

The apartment is attached to the end of our farm house and is surrounded on three sides by green pastures and grazing long horned cattle and horses. Relax and enjoy the peace and quiet on the front screened porch or secluded back deck. Cook outside on the grill and eat while watching the sun disappear behind the forest. Inside we have comfortable sofas, satellite TV, DVD player with a good selection of movies, CD player, books to read and games to play. The kitchen is open to the family room and has a large side by side refrigerator with ice and water through the door, large microwave oven, coffee maker, toaster oven, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and all the dishes, glasses, wine glasses, utensils and cooking dishes and utensils you could use. The kitchen table comfortably sits four and is the perfect size for games or puzzle making. Around the corner from the kitchen is a full size washer and dryer as well as a desk. The bathroom is roomy with a shower, large vanity with lots of storage, toilet and separate urinal. Across from the bathroom is a spacious walk in closet also with plenty of storage. Extra towels and linens can be found in the closet as well as large towels for use after using the pool. Bedroom #1 has a queen sized bed and a view of the front deck. Bedroom #2 has a full size bed with views of both the front and back decks. The apartment is about 830 sqft and will very comfortably fit up to three people. The apartment was originally built for a handicapped family member so it has handrails and pocket doors on the bathroom and bedroom #1. Only one small step leads in and out of front and back doors so an individual in a wheelchair would require some assistance. The apartment has central air-conditioning and heat and there are wood laminate floors throughout.

Outside the long front deck is completely handicapped accessible with a long ramp and cement walkways all the way to the parking area and indoor pool. The lap pool is nearly 40 feet long by 20 feet wide and is only 5 feet at its deepest. The bathroom in the pool house includes a shower and enough room to change. The pool is heated by solar panels on the roof and stays warm most of the year.

Our property is fully fenced and has a security gate at the end of our driveway. Guests will be given their own gate code to enter the property. The driveway is paved and exactly 1/4ml long and with a gradual incline it's great for running lapse in you are so inclined. We also have a 1 mile walking trail around the perimeter of our property that would allow you to get up close and personal with our livestock and be comfortable with a fence between you. We also frequently see deer, fox squirrel, armadillo, gopher tortoises, red and grey fox, hawks, eagles, and coyote on our property. Our property is surrounded by the Withlacoochee state forest on one side, a 350 acre dairy farm on another and preserve on the third. The state forest can be accessed from our property and has many well marked trails for hiking or horseback riding.

About Debbie Roik

Every since I was a little girl I always knew I would someday live on a farm. I loved horses, animals of every kind, large open spaces and growing my own food. It was a long journey to get to this point but it has been well worth it. My husband and I love the peacefulness that surrounds us here. The sky is big and a night we love to look at the stars with no city lights to distract us. Currently I would classify White Rooster Farm as a hobby farm for now. We have raised long horned cattle and chickens, I grow blackberries, grapes, variety of veggies and herbs. I love riding my horses in the forest and exploring new trails with friends. I am also a traveler and have been to many places around the world. I love meeting new people and look forward to sharing a little time on my farm with guests.

Debbie Roik purchased this apartment in 2004

Why Debbie Roik chose Lecanto

Citrus county is such a beautiful place to live. I am close to everything I could possibly want. The forest for hiking or horseback riding or the rivers for boating and exploring or the beach for swimming. I am close enough to Tampa and Orlando to just spend the day there. In fact the Tampa airport is just over an hour away and there is not a single traffic light from my driveway to check in.

What makes this apartment unique

We fell in love with this piece of property the moment we drove up the driveway. I could see the potential. Today it looks very different then when we purchased it in 2004, and we are still a work in progress but it continues to get better year after year.

A bucolic, peaceful and calming atmospere situated near beaches, state parks and mermaids.

We made our reservations to hole up against hurricane Irma. With all they had to do to secure horses, chickens, goats and all their out buildings we were still were treated like we were their first priority. Watching the longhorns and horses in the pasture from our screened in porch had a very calming effect. Everything about their family farm was very inviting. We couldn't recommend it more highly. The apartment was immaculate and roomy with all the comforts of home. Many thanks to Rob and Debbie. What a lovely warm couple.

The property is beautiful, peaceful and well maintained. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

This property was perfect for my stay. It was such a peaceful respite from the fast paced world. It was wonderful to be surrounded by such a beautiful setting. I enjoyed the steer, horses, hens and of course the tortoise. The farm fresh eggs were spectacular. If you are looking for a different and peaceful getaway this is the place. If I am in the area again, I will look to stay here. Debbie and Robert are wonderful and accommodating hosts, who also respect your privacy. If this property intrigues you to stay here...I recommend it!

A very special place

  • 5 of 5

My husband was skeptical when I told him we would be renting an apartment on a farm. He liked that the property was gated, secluded and securely situated. Debbie greeted us upon arrival and made us feel welcome right from the start. Everything we had seen and read online was accurately represented. From the wagon to the pool. The peaceful beauty of the landscape, surrounded by lots of well loved and cared for farm animals. The back apartment was clean, comfortable & generously stocked. My husband likes to barbecue and there was always a gas grill just outside the door. We didn't even miss not having a traditional oven or stove. The proximity of the other apartment had no impact on our sense of privacy.

This is a very unique & very special place to stay. Debbie & Robert make that happen.

Would definitely stay again, Highly recommend.

This place is wonderful!💞?💖?💕?. Calming, peaceful, beautiful. My mom and I enjoyed our stay so much. Debbie and Robert are awesome. Got to tour the farm. There is chickens, goats, horses, and steers. So relaxing sitting on either porch and watching the steers or the tortoise mosey on by. The pool was awesome. Can't wait to go back again in April. If you don't want to sit and relax there is plenty of things to do in a 20 min drive. Love this farm!

Lovely farm setting, pretty baby friendly

  • 5 of 5

Visited for 6 days in April - beautiful weather and gorgeous setting. We stayed with our 16 month old daughter. The property is very toddler friendly. All one level, no stairs to worry about or block off. She absolutely loved looking out at the cows and horses from the porch every day. The screened in portion is attached to the front door, so on nice days it worked perfectly to leave the front door open and she could play inside or out on the porch to her heart's content. Taking the chance to walk the perimeter of the property will be time well spent. We also loved the salt water pool, always warm and there are some pool toys to play with. Any little issues we had with the property were immediately addressed by the owners. Day trips we did from here:

-Visiting Floral City and Inverness (walking around Cooter Pond, checking out the bike trail).

-Homosassa Springs State Park (wildlife, underwater manatee viewing).

-Weeki Wachee Springs (mermaid show, boat rides, water park).

If you're content to watch the animals and sit on the porch with a coffee and a book, no need to even make any other plans. Would certainly stay here again if in the area.

Just minutes east of Homosassa, our 41 acre farm is located in the heart of the Withlacoochee State Forest. The forest has over 41,000 acres of well marked trails for hiking and horseback riding. Explore caves, Holder mine and even what's left of the abandoned ghost town of Mannfield, all within the forest just minutes from our farm. Meet manatees up close and personal at the Homosassa Wildlife Park, learn everything about butterflies at Homosassa Butterfly, bike or walk along the 46 mile Withlacoochee State Trail, check out ancient Indian mounds and artifacts by a full moon at the Crystal River Archaeological State Park, hit the beach at Fort Island Gulf Beach and Fishing Pier, get excited at the Citrus County Speedway, or watch a play at one of our local Community Theatres. There is so much to do and see here, boating, fishing, birdwatching, horseback riding, kayaking, antique shopping, and museums just to name a few. Then after a busy day exploring come back and relax on our farm. It's quiet, no traffic, just cows and horses peacefully grazing just feet away from the front porch.
