About Monica & Marco Pavelka

Marco and I have enjoyed all that Mammoth Mountain has to offer, since the 1980s. So when we had our first opportunity to purchase a second home, Mammoth was our first choice! We know what it is like to try to enjoy time in the mountains with your entire family (pets included) and that is why we decided to share our lovely condo with others. Because of its growing popularity, we never could squeeze in time for ourselves and so, we saved and purchased another 2 condos in Mammoth, inadvertently creating a little business for ourselves, called MammothSun Properties, LLC. We are not property managers per se, we are just a couple who love sharing our love for Mammoth with others. We leave the property management stuff to the experts!

Monica & Marco Pavelka purchased this condo in 2005

Why Monica & Marco Pavelka chose Gold Country / High Sierra

Sunshine Village #120 was a perfect location for us. We loved that it was set like a park, since we had 2 small children and 2 doxies at that time, who we knew would enjoy all that this complex had to offer. Sunshine Village #120 overlooks the tennis court and through the pine trees, you also get a view of the pool. The Sunshine Village Complex is also centrally located, which made it easy for us to get to the slopes and to the stores, which is very convenient.

What makes this condo unique

Sunshine Village #120 really feels like you are in a cabin, instead of a condo. From the river rock fireplace to the tones of the granite and cabinetry in the kitchen, Marco and I did much upgrading over the years, to give our guests the 'whole mountain experience'. We have added many little touches, so that visually, you can enjoy Mammoth inside and out!

This condo needs some work. Kitchen light didn't work. All the towel racks in the bathroom were removed. It seems they broke but instead of replacing them the owner simply spackeled the walls. All the walls were disgusting, with dirt and smears of grossness. Mold in the shower and on the baseboards in the bathroom. This owner does not provide wood. The couches were worn down and not clean. Dust and spider webs seem to have been there for years, we seemed to have allergy problems staying here. Pictures were fallen off the walls. We found old socks under the bed. Just not well kept up at all for the price and this condo is falsely advertised as being a 4 star place to stay. I will never come back.

Great location and comfy cabin feel

  • 5 of 5

This place was exactly as advertised. We had a blast in Mammoth Lakes, we were centrally located near the town and restaurants and a short drive from the slopes and sledding. The separate bedroom and loft made it perfect for our family of four. Great place, we will surely want to come back and visit next season!

Exactly As Advertised!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed here on Christmas Eve weeken. There were 6 of us and 1 small dog and we found the property to be very cozy and charming! Its location is central to The Village and Mammoth resort. It was also pet friendly, which was a huge plus for us. All amenities were exactly as advertised and working properly during our stay. Monica, the owner, was responsive to my last minute inquiry regarding road conditions during the snow storm. Greatly appreciated the fire wood on hand! Our family enjoyed gathering around the fire place during this holiday season. Thanks again!

We love Sunshine Village!

  • 4 of 5

We always stay at Sunshine Village or Horizns 4 across the street. They are older condos and most of them have been updated with new kitchen and bathrooms. This unit was very comfortable and cozy with a new kitchencabinets, counters and appliances. It could use a bathroom makeover soon and the kitchen was lacking in sharp knoves. All we found were 4 steak knives. Other than that, the location is great and the price is fair. We like being centrally located to everything. We go every summer for the Mammoth MotoX and Sunshine Village is a convenient location!

Cozy Condo in Mammoth

  • 3 of 5

This place was okay for the price we paid to stay there. There were 6 of us who stayed from Friday night to Sunday morning. The chief complaint was that the Wi-Fi which was advertised, didn't work and I reported this to the lady that took our keys at check out so hopefully the owner will get this resolved before the next guests arrive. The tea kettle that was sitting on the stove when we arrived was leaking when we attempted to use it. The water pressure in the kitchen is not good at all. There was a broken measuring cup that we attempted to use, which leaked, and one of the serving bowls had tape on it to somehow mend a hole that it had. Also there weren't enough fire starters for use for an entire weekend and there should have been at least 3 extra rolls of toilet paper available for 6 people. Well aside from all of these complaints, we did have a decently enjoyable weekend. We did get a visit from the person downstairs saying there was water leaking into their unit from the bathroom and that they may contact us about the water being shut off, but nobody ever contacted us, nor was the water shut off while we were there. Not sure I'd come back to this property unless they spruced it up a bit. Good luck to the next folks who decide to rent from here. :)

Owner's Response: I am sorry that the wifi was not working, which would have been an easy fix, either to management or myself. Often, the wifi connection gets lost in the mountains and it is matter of simply rebooting the router. As for the toilet paper, again, a simple call to say you need more towels, toilet paper etc and management would have responded promptly. They are very good at these things. I guess it's time for a new tea kettle...
