A beautifully recreated stone house with swimming pool in a tranquil valley of olive trees an grape vines. The house looks across a valley directly at the majestic Maielle Mountains. The bathrooms and kitchen of the house are totally new and fully equipped. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. All on one level the very large open beam kitchen/sitting room area opens directly on to a shaded patio steps from the 10x5m swimming pool. Within 10 mins there are many local and non-expensive local restaurants. Shopping is 3 min away in Civitella Casanova. The nearby Gran Sasso National Park has beautiful mountains, walking paths and picnicking areas. The Adriatic beaches are 40 mins away.
We spent a wonderful holiday in Civitella Casanova. The house is very rural and the privacy is ensured at all times. Accordingly, you need a car. Shopping for the little daily needs there are in Civitella (supermarket, bakery butchers, ice cream parlors, etc.). A large shopping center (megalo.it) is located in Chieti (about 25 minutes). Furthermore it is in each case in about 1 hour either in Campo Imperatore, in Majellagebirge or on the beach in Pescara Downtown. This is about 7km long sandy beach, very gently sloping and therefore suitable for small children.
The house is fully equipped. It's all new and it was missing in our view nothing. The total of 3 bedrooms are situated on the sides of the head of the house (T-shape) and each have a private bathroom. Thus, several families have their own area in the house.
For those who want to spend a quiet holiday in a virtually tourist-free, very original region, we can recommend the house highly. We will miss the unobstructed view of the Majella and the day lying in the distance at night illuminated Chieti.
We have already talked with friends about a return visit.
We had a very nice welcome from Mila and Luca at our arrival. They were also very efficient to give us all the support and information during our stay, including the list of interesting sites to visit, etc.
The house was well prepared and comfortable, with large spaces. The swimming pool is very nice and the quality of water is pefect, and we used it many times a day, by the whole family (parents and thee children).
The village is also very pleasant and the people are very open.
We recommend this rental.
The villa is very large and spacious with a beautiful swimming pool and a well equipped kitchen. The view from the garden is stunning and it's very peaceful. This is the ideal place to get away from it all and discover the real heart of Italy. It's not a commercial area and you will rarely see other tourists.
Civitella Casanova is a beautiful old village with several lovely restaurants, a supermarket, butchers, bakers, two bars, florists and a few other nice shops. The local sausages made by the village butcher are exquisite and you must try Arrosticini at Macalusa. We spent many happy hours by the lovely swimming pool or cooking local produce in the fabulous kitchen. The villa is much larger than the photos suggest. There is a very comprehensive file with lots of details about restaurants, markets and things to do nearby which was very useful. The property manager is very helpfull and will go out of her way to make sure you are well looked after and have all the information you need. There is lovely wildlife in the garden and we saw pretty green lizards every day and a flock of Sand Martins which swooped down for a dip in the pool several times a day!
Our only criticisms are easily corrected by the owner. Directions to the villa need to be much more accurate especially as with late flights to Pescara, like us you may not reach the villa until the early hours of the morning and it is very hard to find in the dark. One of the bathrooms needs some work but the other two are lovely. The garden furniture looks a bit old and tired and needs replacing or a good varnish. The plant on the pergola in the garden looks beautiful but is an insect magnet! We had to sweep the patio three times a day as the fallen flowers attracted a lot of ants and the flowers on the plant attracted a lot of flies. It's the country so you expect insects but probably not the best idea to have a big plant which attracts them right outside the back door in the area where you want to sit and eat. If these small details were corrected it would be a first rate villa.
Overall we had a lovely holiday, in our favourite part of Italy and didn't want to leave!
Lovely and spacious Farmhouse thats been reconditioned to a really high standard. Huge amount of green, surrounding countryside which is perfect for a real getaway. Close to the local town that has all your grocery needs as well as good coffees and fine afternoon drinks.
Quite tricky to find at night, so make sure you take the contacts numbers so you can call her.
I went with my brother and my parents and we all enjoyed our stay! The house is spacious and have everything you need for your stay. The pool area and the view is incredible! Each bedroom has its private bathroom and they all have very good size with direct access to the garden.
The kitchen and the living room is also good and have accessto the garden/pool. Everything was clean and well maintained. In the nearby village, Civitella Casanova you can find what you need as far as food etc.
Our hosts made sure that everything was ok, which we appreciated.
Siamo davvero entusiasti dell'accoglienza. Luca ci ha accolto in maniera molto esaustiva indicandoci posti e luoghi da visitare e rendendosi sempre disponibile in caso di bisogno.
Torneremo presto altamente consigliato!
The villa is great inside and out. Modern kitchen and 3 bathrooms. Spacious with all the cooking amenities you hope for. We had some wonderful days out in the mountains and to the beach. Great pool. We had a great holiday. Definitely recommend it.
The local area is populated with many old picturesque villages and towns each with their own character. Exploring the churches, markets and restaurants of these places is a continual delight. In the summer there are many local fiestas in the vicinity. Both the mountains and the Adriatic beaches are easily accessible providing opportunities for exercise or picnicking. For those that want ancient history the region has medieval castles and roman ruins.
