Fabulous house in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We had a super-relaxing Easter holiday in this house. It is extremely well designed and provided the perfect accommodation for two families. The beach was amazing for long walks, not to mention the stunning views from every room of the house. Dermot and Nikki were warm and welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. We highly recommend this house, and we hope to return to it ourselves.

Could not have been more perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Apple tart, milk and a bottle of wine were waiting for us when we arrived. What a wonderful surprise! We loved the house, the atmosphere and the privacy of this place. The house is fully stocked with anything you need. Daily breakfast and dinner was a breeze in the kitchen. We love cooking together and it's perfectly designed for multiple cooks. Everything we needed was at our fingertips. Dermot was a joy to meet and checked in to make sure everything was to our liking. We loved walking down to the beach each day and enjoying the privacy the property offered. Although we had many daily excursions, one of our favorite things was opening a bottle of wine and watching the tide come in after eating dinner "with a view" each night. Just a picture perfect place. It was just the two of us this trip, and of course the house was MUCH more than we needed, but we plan to return with family next time and I know the house will perfectly accommodate us all. Thank you so much for the hospitality and allowing Rance and I to enjoy your home. We cannot wait to come back and make even more memories!

Incredible--Well Constructed, Well Appointed, Beautiful Home with Lots of Room--and a View

  • 5 of 5

Locale: sits in Asdee between Ballybunion (7 minutes) and Ballylongford (5 minutes). Used as a base for travels to Dingle, Killarney, Cork, and Dublin. Need a car. Tricky to find first time, but worth the effort. BallyB is a summer beach area. BallyL is a small town with a grocery store that has all you need.

Location: Excellent--private and very quiet--sits right on the estuary with a 50 meter field and a wide beach. Can view beach activities from house. Beach great for walking, running, or building sand castles. Safe--very low waves and no rip currents--but it is tidal. View is wonderful--and interesting. Besides the wide estuary, you can see the green fields of Ireland, wind turbines, and a power plant far off to the right. The estuary is also an anchorage, so there is usually a ship parked there at some point for an overnight stay. Use the provided binoculars to get the ships name and go on-line to see what it is doing. Night sky is incredible. Lots of opportunities to teach or learn. Didn't get to see the dolphins.

About an hour driving from Shannon on roads wide enough for two-way traffic. Last bit is a narrow road, but no real traffic. Dermot will meet you and show you the way.

House: Not a cottage, but a newer 2400 sqft two-story exceptional house. Quality is everywhere. Everything one needs--it is there. Plenty of space--hallways and doorways are wide and will accomodate wheelchair with ease. Master with bath on lower. Plenty of bathrooms. A cooks kitchen-- huge with everything one needs. big table, and view. Quality windows that open to let in the breeze. Electric fireplace with heat in living room. Two TV's. Outside landscaping is wonderful--nice big patio. Big enough lawn to let kids run amok. asphalt driveway that can accomodate several cars. Pictures just don't do the house justice--it is a fine home.

Owner: No corporate rental. It is a home built by Dermot. Dermot isn't intrusive, but is close by to offer advice or meet your needs. Many have mentioned the apple pie/milk/fresh flowers found upon arrival. They were certainly there. But to give you a better idea about the owner: We arrive exhausted from a marathon flight from the US. Dermot met us and showed us to the house. We needed coffee, but didn;t have the energy to shop. Dermot noticed this and drove to BallyL, picked up some ground coffee and dropped it off.

This is a really beautiful house that will quickly become your home.

Family vacation of a life time!

  • 5 of 5

You won't find a better place to stay and visit western Ireland. In addition to direct beach access to the River Shannon, you are only 10 minutes away from the beautiful beaches in Ballybunion. Also, within an hour, you have access to Limerick, Killarney, Tralee, Listowel and parts of Counties Tipperary and Cork. The cottage itself is immaculate with all the amenities any family will need. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thanks to Damon and Nikki! We are already planning our next visit.

From Shannon airport follow the signs for Limerick on the N18. Go through the Tunnell ( Toll €1.90) and take the 1st exit for N69 towards Listowel. At Tarbert continue straight ahead on the R551 to Asdee.

Golf: Golfers paradise. Play all the famous links of the south west Lahinch, Doonbeg, Tralee, Waterville and the Old Head of Kinsale are within reach and of course Ballybunion is right on your doorstep. The parkland courses of Killarney and Adare Manor are also close by.

The beach in front of the house is a great place to practice your swing
