About Frank Perry
I work in construction as a commercial manager and I have been fortunate that this has allowed me to work in other countries. I first visited Crete many years ago in 1972 and it made an everlasting impression on me. I returned in 2003 with my family and we fell in love with the Island and decided to buy a property so that we could spend more time there. My family and I try and spend as much time as possible there and never get tired of the tranquillity and amazing views of the Villa.
Frank Perry purchased this Villa in 2005
Why Frank Perry chose Kefalas
This property has fantastic views across the bay with 70km sea and mountains. The villa is on the edge of an old traditional village and has 2 supermarkets and a good traditional restaurant. It is in a quiet tranquil location but with easy access to all facilities. There is also a walk-in Health centre in the village of Vamos which is nearby and is open 24/7. Nearest beach 11mins away by car. The pool is on the same level as the house and outdoor living area and kitchen making it easy for access and to monitor if needed. The pool water is the same level as the paving around with steps leading in making access very easy for all members of the family.
What makes this Villa unique
When the house was being built we it was an important requirement for us to have a tiled concrete pool with easy access from the villa and for it be built at the same level of the house. We have recently had work done installing an outdoor kitchen and dining/lounge area which comprises a wood fired oven and a large stone BBQ. This area is attached to the house and close to the kitchen so it makes cooking and living outside very convenient. The wi fi can pick up the internet outside living area so that you can to listen to your favourite radio station. We also extended the upstairs balcony and now it can seat 6+ people around the table and has fantastic views and is shaded in the afternoon when the sun is it its hottest. The oven is suitable for pizzas (as well Greek style Sunday roast dinners) and we make them as a family and all join in adding our favourite topppings to them. The children love getting involved with the cooking and we as parents have the time to devote to them during this relaxing holiday time which makes for a very enjoyable and unique experience for us and our children. We used to live in South Africa where BBQ's (brais) are very popular and we can leave instructions on how to fire up the oven and BBQ as well some of our favourite recipes. Children can easily make the pizza dough and they can add their own favourite toppings and share their pizzas they have made with the rest of their family (please request the information pack so we can make sure you understand how it all works. The gardens are now mature with pomegranate, orange, and lemon trees so these can be picked and eaten or used in your drinks!

Fantastic very well equipped villa
Our family have had a fantastic holiday in this villa. It's in such a peaceful location overlooking the sea. The views are fantastic my son loved getting up early to see the sunrise on the balcony and bird watching. The pool was lovely too and big enough to do a few lengths everyday! The villa is very well equipped and was spotlessly clean. The surrounding area was fab to explore and very beautiful! We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would return. Frank was very helpful and we got a great car rental from his recommendation.
Suzanne and family where lovely to deal with, ideal guests, and its nice to be able to share our villa with others. We feel privileged to be able to own such a villa in such a special place. Thank you again for comments and we are so glad you enjoyed your holiday.
Beautiful villa in a quiet location overlooking the sea.
We had a wonderful stay at the Villa Kristina.
The villa is beautiful and very well equipped for dining at home. Rooms are spacious and comfortable and tastefully decorated. The kitchen has everything needed for dining in and the outdoor areas were fantastic for sunbathing, evening meals and relaxing. A short walk away is a fantastic taverna that makes the best food we have ever tasted on the island and is clearly very popular, ( the path is steep in places and you do need a torch). The village has two general shops and are handy as they stay open long hours.
The owner met us on the first day and was most welcoming and a pool attendant came once in the week and ensured the pool was sparkling.
Communication with the owner prior to the visit was clear and efficient and couldn't have been more helpful. Altogether it was a wonderful holiday.
Beautiful Villa in an Amazing Location
We have just returned from our 10th Holiday to Crete and had an amazing 2 week break at Villa Kristina with our two children (4 and 11), it must be the best accommodation I’ve had whilst visiting the island since 1980.
It truly is a Beautiful Villa that is fully equipped with everything you might possibly need for a relaxing holiday, the multiple eating areas meant that you could find shade any time of the day whilst alfresco dining, topped off with the excellent outdoor kitchen meant for fun times with my 4 year old son cooking in the Pizza Oven with “Real Fire Dad”
The Views are to die for, multiple terraces all facing out to sea with every bedroom benefitting from this, a lovely way to wake up in the morning ! The outdoor lounge was fantastic, which is an excellent shaded area with comfortable seats that was generally about 10 degrees cooler than being out in the sun.
The pool kept the kids (big and small) amused for hours, regularly maintained and essential to cool off after many day trips to a really traditional and interesting part of Crete.
The Village of Kefalas is only a short 15 min walk from the Villa where you’ll find an excellent restaurant Meterizi which is very reasonably priced and the food is really good – they had specials every night we went which made for a more varied eating experience. There is also Maddies Kaffeion which is also a great place to eat / drink and enjoy the local village life.
There are 2 small Mini Markets in town which are pretty limited but good for picking up essentials, for self-catering we found that Vamos (a short 10 min drive away) had everything we needed, Jon the English Butcher was excellent and made it much easier buying cuts of meat that you could recognise ;-) he also makes his own Sausages with many flavours! There is a lovely Bakery and also a great Delicatessen (which is hard to see initially but can be found in the main square on the corner opposite the Pharmacy).
Frank and Christine were excellent hosts, from the start of the booking process communication was always really quick and nothing seemed to much trouble, (Frank even sent me recipes to try out in the outdoor oven). Everything was exactly as described and it was lovely to meet Frank on our first couple of days just to make sure we knew how everything worked.
I have no hesitation in recommending this outstanding property or booking through Frank as we had the most fantastic holiday and would love to go back soon.
Ed and Amy
Ed and Amy and family were lovely guests and settled in very quickly and its so nice when someone loves our villa as much as we do. Its hard work renting villas but when someone enjoys their holiday it makes it all worthwhile and keeps us reassured to keep renting the villa. You are most welcome to stay whenever you want and thank you again.
Frank & Christine
Everything was very good. Very complete villa as described on the homeaway website. Nice pool. Fantastic seaview. We travelled with our kids(11,10 and 7 years old). We all enjoyed it.
We can recommend a stay at villa Kristina!
Family Vanderweerd from the Netherlands
Thank you for your kind review, we do work hard to try and make our guests stay a happy and memorable one, and by the way it was me on the scooter the day you left to make sure you and your family were OK leaving in the electrical thunderstorm and to see if you needed any help.

Tranquil spot in the mountains of Vamos region
We stayed at the lovely villa Cristina for two weeks with our three children aged 16, 14 and 11. For us it provided the perfect place to relax and unwind taking in the panoramic views of the Cretan sea merging into the constantly blue sky - a view you can take in from the comfort of your bed once you have mustered the small amount of energy needed to open the shutters.
The villa itself is excellently appointed with a pool (regularly cleaned) and pizza oven and roasting racks. Inside all rooms have efficient air-con and there is even an excellent TV / Satellite package thrown in - we were able to keep up with Team GB exploits throughout the week. There is a modern kitchen and much welcomed arrival pack.
Some great local beaches (you will need a car) - family favourites being Ombroglialos and Georgioupolis. Kefalas is a great place for a lazy wander round the town and Vamos is an interesting spot to hang about over a coffee and watch the world go by every morning. We even managed a few hikes round Vamos exploring the lost churches and Old town.
Further trips to the amazing Balos and Falassarna are only about 1 hour away. Knossos about 1.25 hours and the lovely Chania old town 40 mins.
Would fully recommend the villa and booking was easy and straightforward with great communication from Frank.
Thank you for your review, its very rewarding and important that we have been able to share out Villa and its been enjoyed and shared with others. Ombroglialos is a little cove only 10 mins drive away and is a lovely secret spot where you can swim off the rocks into the sea and then have a meal afterwards. I particularly like the colour of the sea and the shades that change when the depth changes. We also love to make pizzas with our child and cook them in the outdoor oven, our son loves making his own as its simple to do and then we all sit down to eat our dinner in the outdoor kichen/living area. Its a special time with the family when we all join in making the pizzas and salads. I can leave some recipes and instructions for those people who want to have a go at outdoor cooking including the large stone bbq all our guests have to do is inform when they book and I can provide them with a cooking information pack (recipes, information and ideas for cooking a meal with the family).
V. Kristina - where better to unwind & reconnect?
We refilled our empty nest at Villa Kristina for a 10 day vacation with our 3 'kids' (25, 23, 19). The villa is very well appointed and more than adequate for a family of 5 adults. We were especially grateful for its peaceful location to come back to after the hustle and bustle of the surrounding attractions. The various outdoor seating/eating areas around the villa are a great idea as is the outdoor BBQ/oven.
The facilities in the village are limited but adequate, and one couldn't wish for a better family-run taverna than Meterizi. The small taverna at Ombrogialos some 10 minutes from the villa by car is also a must-visit - the best fresh seafood we had during the trip. We also greatly enjoyed the beach near Pirgos that was recommended by Frank and Christine in their villa file. In addition to the local interests in Chania, Kalyves and Giorgioupoli we took full day trips to Knossos and the Samaria Gorge that were well worth the effort. The latter is not for the faint-hearted when its pushing 35C in the shade!
Christine and Frank couldn't do enough to ensure the booking process and vacation itself went as smoothly as possible with all questions being answered very promptly.
We would have no hesitation in recommending Villa Kristina to family and friends if looking for a quality property in a peaceful location in a wonderful part of the world.
Claire & Allan S.
Hi Claire and Allan
We are so happy that you enjoyed our villa and the surrounding area, we also think Ombriogalis is a special place which we visit often and can recommend it for staying for the day and swimming off the rocks. We also love the outdoor areas eating and drinking while listening to the music or radio. A particular favourite is sunset having a gin and tonic on the upstairs balcony using the lemons from the trees in the garden.
Limnoupolis Water Park - This water paradise is situated in a green area of almost 100,000 m2; 6 km west of Chania next to the village of Varipetro. There is a large pool measuring 1500m2 with a pool bar, jacuzzi and a small island. With plenty of glides and rides for the whole family the park is open from 10 am to 7pm every day from May to September.
Samaria Gorge – the gorge is usually open from May to the end of October. Starting at Omalos, the gorge is the longest in Europe at 18 km and is very popular. The walk ends at Agia Roumeli on the south coast. If you don’t fancy doing the walk independently there are travel agents in most of the tourist villages who offer all inclusive bus trips which can be very handy for the return journey from Ag. Roumeli.
Kalives and Almirida have lovely beaches suitable for all the family and plenty of shops and bars just a short walk from the beach or a little further to Georgoupolis at Asterias on coast road opposite the Episkopi turn off.
