We really loved this house. It was perfect for 2 couples. The house has everything you need and is very clean. We cooked most of our meals here. The ping pong table in the basement was a big bonus! The lot is very roomy and plenty of parking in the driveway. We could walk to town, which was very nice. The neighborhood was super quiet and the beds were comfortable. I would highly recommend this property.
Julie was very helpful with any questions, quick to respond. The community is very friendly, lots to do, great art, history, sorry we missed the train.
My friend and I really enjoyed staying in this home. It was clean and sunny with a nice kitchen (well equipped) and dining area. The living room couches reclined and were very comfortable. We didn't watch TV, but did watch a movie and it was easy to manage. The yard is beautiful and a great place to relax in the evening. We ventured out from this perfect location to the Oregon Trail Interpretive Museum, the Hot Springs Hotel in LaGrande and took the Elkhorn Scenic Byway. These were easy day trips even for two ladies in their 70s! I would recommend this property to anyone traveling to or around Baker City and I will return.
We had a great time in Baker starting with our 'house'. It was like home: Spacious, extremely clean and well equipped with several
amenities. The location was perfect, across from the Baker City park and their wonderful museum. Baker sits in a beautiful and
accessible location for visiting historic sights such as ghost and mining towns, plus hiking. There are a variety of choices at various
levels of restaurants, most of which were quite good. I would recommend this house to family or friends. We had a delightful time.
What a spot! We were in Baker City for a softball tournament. Just after waking up the first morning, I received a team text from my daughter's coach, "Meeting in Geiser-Pollman Park downtown @ 10am." All we had to do was take our morning coffee out the front door, across the street, and we were there.
The house is great, well laid out, everything you need. But being across the street from the best park in Baker City is what really makes this spot. One afternoon we came home from a softball game, and there was a country-funk-rock band playing a concert in the park. Again, all we had to do was walk out the front door and across the street (with beer in a plastic cup this time), and we watched the rest of the show. That's what you get with this house. You're right across the street from the best spot in Baker City. Geiser-Pollman Park has got everything you need, a great playground, lots of trees, river walk, and a small stage for entertainment.
One final thing, the owners were really accomodating as well. When my daughter's final game was rescheduled for six hours later, all it took was a quick phone call and a follow-up text, and Fred extended our stay. These are the little things that can make or break a trip. Fred and Julie made the whole process very simple.
I'd recommend this house for an extended weekend like ours, or a week, or a month. Chill in the park. Walk to all the best restaurants and brew pubs. You can even walk to Safeway for beer and plastic cups. All that, and a ping-pong table, which we wore out.
This was a great place to stay during our time in Baker City. It is directly across the street from the park and we were able to walk everywhere we went. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen was outfitted with everything we needed to cook. The garden with the lovely flowers and the birds were a beautiful addition. We really appreciated having lawn furniture to sit out back and also the BBQ to grill on. Definitely highly recommend this home and the owner was very responsive to all questions.
Our comfortable home is your perfect resting place while exploring Baker County.
In the winter, drive the short distance (35 miles) to Anthony Lakes Ski resort where you can enjoy skiing, snow boarding or cross country trails. Or, go south toward the city of Sumpter for a snowmobiling adventure.
If you prefer to stay close to home, the park and public library are across the street. Also within walking distance are museums, quaint antique shops, restaurants and downtown shopping.
The Leo Adler walking path is just a few steps from your front door. The path gives you a safe, paved walkway to various parts of the city including the downtown district and the Baker High School Sports Complex. The sports complex features 6 lighted tennis courts, walking/running track, several baseball fields, and soccer fields. Baker City is also home to the Wimbledon Grass Tennis Court Complex (4 lighted grass courts) as well as an 18-hole golf course, both within 2 miles from the house.
