Mountain Rustic Ski Home Tahoe-Reno 2 miles to Mt Rose-Snow Resort

Bedrooms 3
Space 2,000 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Den, 2 Baths (Sleeps 8 in beds+1 more on Living Room couch)

Please Note. We have had record snow fall (over 50 feet) and as a result, the parking is limited, and you may need to walk up from another parking area about 100 yards away. But once at our house, you will have the adventure of a life time in the Snow.

This is a one of a kind Home hidden in the Mountains above Lake Tahoe off the Mt Rose Hwy 431 with views to Reno, on an unpaved road about one tenth mile from Main Hwy and only 2 miles to Mt Rose Ski Ares. Besides being a wonderful vintage home, the views are incredible. We are the proud new owners, and everyone tells us that this is the best built house anywhere around. We love it and want to share it. The first renters said they loved it and felt like they were in a museum. I would not call this a Luxury Home, but a very comfortable place to stay. One really feels at home at our home in the mountains. The Home is located right next to Sky Tavern Ski Area, which the builder of this home also Built. There is so much history for the area and Ski resort. Sky Tavern was the first Ski resort in all of the Sierras. We Love to speak to future guests. Feel free to phone me, Mark at 619-303-4687

Why mark hoffing chose Reno

So comfortable Like Camping in the middle of the forest, but just a few hundred yards off the main highway. It is like stepping back a little in time and having all the comforts of home in the forest. Enjoy the forest, hiking, mountain bike riding, Skiing, Snowboarding, & Sledding, right outside of our home. Please note: If you inquire but do not make a payment, your dates remain open and not reserved.

What makes this house unique

One Renter said he felt like he was in a Museum. It is a lot like going back to the 1950's & 1960's in the decor.

The cabin was cozy, clean and had wonderful views.

Like others have commented the decor is dated but it adds to the charm. It had everything we needed including a beautiful snowfall in September! It was convenient to Reno and Incline Village and the quiet of the area was restorative. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

A great family adventure!

  • 5 of 5

I called ahead and spoke with Curtis who was so helpful and kind. Upon arriving we didn't know where to go but I called Curtis(property manager) once again and he helped us find our way even told us which gears to stay in and which side of the road to stick too. This home is such a great time capsule I found myself smiling at the memories of my childhood it brought up. Everything from the stove, color of the sink, radio,A-tracks and record player. It was great conversation pieces for our girls who were confused as to what they were! The internet worked perfectly as well! The house is two stories with master bedroom on first level 3 entrances 2 down stairs. Our girls were fine playing down stairs but we're scared to sleep down there so we all slept in the master which is huge! The kitchen is well equipped and we cooked every meal with no issues. You are 30 min from town so bring some board games or other entertainment. Our girls just played out side in the snow. Very nice size lot. Other homes so respecting the noise ordinance is very important but your not on top of each other. All in all we had way more room than I imagined. We had no issues, we had so much fun just hanging out building memories. I can't wait to slip away to this gem next year! Oh great skiing lodges right down the way and a few miles out!

Spacious yet cozy lodge with a stunning view located very close to Mt. Rose

  • 5 of 5

We frequently stay at this lodge because it has everything my family needs and is very conveniently located less than a mile from Mt. Rose Ski Resort. The owner, Mark, is very friendly and accommodating.

Beautiful views!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I absolutely loved this cute little cabin! We were traveling from Idaho to California so it was nice to be able to break up the drive and stay somewhere so scenic. It's only about 30 minutes from down town Reno and it's dog friendly! Unfortunately there was a big snow storm when we got in so we didn't get to explore much but cuddling up next to the fireplace was enough for us. Thank you Mark for allowing us to use your home!

Beautiful view and great warm house

  • 5 of 5

Had a little problem finding it called the manager found out I was just next door. Other than that it’s a perfect rental at a amazing price and location. Loved the old charm and great furnace and hot water. Would love to stay there next year when we come back for street vibrations.

Owner's Response: Yes, the house is a little off the beaten track, which makes it a great hideaway. Glad you enjoyed your stay. We love our Mountain home, and are very glad to share it.
