About the property

private natural beauty for up to 18 guests

Our spacious, 7-bedroom forest homestead (plus two convertible queen beds) is privately located on 100 wooded acres, with a sunny deck overlooking a forest of pines and oaks. Just a few steps from the front door, guests can enjoy a 5-mile network of beautiful, private hiking & mountain biking trails that follow the creek to a sandy beach & picnic area, with waterfalls and shallow pools to enjoy on a hot summer day.

The 3,500 sf yuba river retreat – offers privacy and outdoor beauty for guests seeking time in nature, while just 10 minutes from historic Nevada City’s theater, local shops, and gourmet restaurants.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The Yuba River Retreat is incredible! My cousins and I enjoyed a reunion weekend with children of all ages. About 20 people in all and we were completely comfortable. There was not a thing that we had wished was supplied that was not there for us. Beautiful landscaping, easy hike to the river and waterfall, a giant deck overlooking the most beautiful canyon, an area for a safe fire for an evening of building smores and singing camp fire songs, and plenty of space in the home. We did not feel crowded at all. We created wonderful memories at the Yuba River Retreat and look forward to another visit.

Wonderful Experience!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our family get together at the Yuba River Retreat over the Christmas holiday. The property was immaculate and provided everything we needed to enjoy our holiday. The attention to detail to include the fireplace preps, kitchen hardware, bath amenities, and other special touches added to our overall experience. We would certainly recommend this property and want to thank the owners for a great time.

Clean, Large, Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

The house is very well kept with everything you need from shampoos and conditioner in the bathrooms to detergent in the living rooms. It is a large and clean house with beautiful surroundings. We would definitely visit again.

In terms of criticism: the internet does not work very well. It was a problem for two reasons: 1. A few of the people had to work during the stay and depended on it -- they ended up going into town for internet service. 2. There was a limited selection of movies, especially for kids and we didn't bring any because we relied on streaming Netflix, which did not work.

Owner's Response: Hi, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay! After attempting to work with at&t to solve the internet issues of our neighborhood, we resolved it by switching to hughes.net. The streaming of netflix and all wifi functions are working perfectly. Not only can you enjoy the beauty of the outdoors, you can easily stay in contact with the rest of the world (if you want to)! We had a big group and we were able to enjoy privacy as well as plenty of spaces to be together both inside and outside. Close to Empire Mine State Park and the Yuba River.

Truly a retreat! A perfect place for families.

  • 5 of 5

We loved the hiking trails and the creek swimming hole. Coffee on the large sunny deck was the perfect way to start the day. The kids loved the game room and the open kitchen/dining/living room was great for cooking while socializing! Alicia was very helpful and a gracious host.

Secluded immersion in nature

  • 4 of 5

We just returned from a four-night stay at the retreat where we held our very intimate wedding ceremony and reception. We had some unusually rainy weather for mid-October, but we managed to catch a break in the rain to hold a misty and wonderful wedding on the deck. We also didn't let the rain stop us from getting some hikes in (although we waited for gaps in the rain when there were any). In addition to the land its on, the house itself is really lovely. The kitchen is amazingly well equipped. There is a ton of living space for spreading out and the bedrooms were all quite spacious, comfortable and charmingly decorated.

A note on the layout - although there is a separate entrance to the basement studio, it is also accessible from stairs off the kitchen on the main floor, which lead directly into one of the bedrooms. We felt the need to be thoughtful about who would be best suited for this room because it felt a little less private.

Again, gorgeous property and a cozy, yet spacious home. We hope to come back. :)

Amazing stay & Birthday getaway at the Yuba Retreat

  • 5 of 5

The home and property were amazing! My family and our guests enjoyed their stay very much and have already been making plans to visit and book the retreat again.

The home is spacious, inviting, clean, well maintained and a wonderful space to enjoy with family and friends. Each room has a view out to the property and a luxurious bed. The kitchens - yes there are two! are well stocked and has a nice layout. Our favorite was the outdoor patio area and the long communal table in the dining room - which was perfect for our meals and some fun card games.

The property is also about a mile from one of our favorite Yuba river spots - which was a major bonus!

Alicia was always within reach with my questions via email and provided a great guidebook and directions to the retreat. I highly recommend booking this home!
