Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Killarney - No. 4 Lower Sunnyhill

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths (Sleeps 6)

4 Lower Sunnyhill is a perfect base to set off to see the Ring of Kerry or day trip to Dingle. Basically its what we would like ourselves when traveling, clean, comfortable and well appointed throughout.

Sunnyhill has 2 floors and 3 bedroom and 2 bathrooms upstairs and shower downstairs.

There is a large 'pot belly' stove in the sitting room for added comfort and warmth.

The kitchen is fully equipped, dishwasher, stove, microwave all the modern cons. A washer and dryer in the back utility room as well.

The 3 bedrooms are 1 queen, 1 double and 2 single beds.

'Downtown' Killarney is a 2 minute walk but everyone says we're in town. There is plenty of parking right outside the door. Plus off street private parking. So you can operate from here without a rental car.

Wonderful vibrant town center with the best of pubs featuring traditional music and pub grub. Great restaurants and shopping plus a cinema as well - everything is within walking distance. The train station and bus station are a 5 minute stroll.

Rent a bike and head to Killarney National Park, over 23,000 acres. Go walking up Torc Mountain or hiking up Carrantuohill (the highest peak in Ireland). Take in an afternoon at the Spa, whatever you feel like its pretty much here! Don't forget about all the Golf courses which are close-by also.

Welcome to Killarney.

Exceeded High Expectations

  • 5 of 5

I recently spent seven nights at Sunnyhill Lower with my wife and our two girlfriends. Bernadette met us at the house and she was amazing! Her and Tim provide maps, tips and an entire basket of very useful information. The house is beautiful, clean, ideally located and extremely well equipped. I could go on and on, but really all that needs to be said is that you will not be disappointed with this property!

We spent two weeks at Number 4 Lower Sunnyhill in mid-July. Probably the best two weeks we have spent in Ireland (our 12th visit). The cottage is charming, well-equipped, comfortable and best of all within walking distance of city centre with all its pubs (lots of music), restaurants, and shops. The three bedrooms and three baths accommodated us and friends from Ireland, Scotland and the U.S. (who came at different times) very comfortably. The well-equipped kitchen and nice dining area prompted us to cook or bring in meals which only added to the fun. Killarney is a lively tourist town with lots to do and it is conveniently located for day trips in lovely County Kerry (our favorite area of Ireland). We would definitely recommend this cottage. In fact, our friends of the U.S are thinking of renting it for a family vacation sometime in the future.

Spacious and central location

  • 4 of 5

Cleaner than most rentals and neat but Tim left us waiting for him to let us in. He forgot to tell us he left the key to let ourselves in. We also did let him know about lights being out in the kitchen and on the stairs and they did not get replaced as promised during our stay. It was great to have 3 bathrooms to use for the 4 of us. Not having to climb stairs for a toilet is great. The stove was wonderful for an evening fire even though it was during a warm spell in Ireland.

There was no parking in the back due to the mess the builders from next door left (not pretty to look at from the kitchen but it was neatened up while we were there) but there were parking passes in the house for the car.

There was a bad fruit fly infestation but we sprayed the entire house with spray we purchased one day and left for our day out. They were well under control after that. Only one after the wine instead of a dozen in each glass.

The laundry room is first rate and was greatly appreciated.

Great Accommodations in a Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I rented this house for our first visit to Ireland. I researched high and low for places to stay and hands down, this was the winner!

The House: Upon arrival, you can't help but get excited - the front of the house looks like it should be on a postcard! When you walk in, the main floor is spacious and has an open floor plan connecting the living room, dining room, and kitchen. During our visit, the evenings were cool providing us the perfect excuse to use the pot belly stove. The burning peat smells wonderful. The main floor also has a 3/4 bathroom and laundry facilities available (very convenient). The kitchen has all the amenities you could possibly need to make meals. All of the bedrooms are located upstairs. While we only used the master bedroom, all of the rooms were clean and comfortable. The bathrooms were comfortable and clean.

Location, Location, Location: The house is less than a 5 minute walk to restaurants, pubs, shopping and sight seeing. It is far enough off the main drag to be quiet at night. We rented this house knowing we wanted to use it as home base for day trips - it did not disappoint! Tim was kind enough to leave laminated notes and maps with recommendations on places to see and things to do both in Killarney and the surrounding area. We took his recommendations and visited Mizen Head, the Dingle Peninsula, Ring of Kerry, Killarney National Park, and more.

Tim and Bernadette were a pleasure to work with before and during our stay. We can't say enough about this wonderful home. We highly recommend it and cannot wait to visit again in the future, hopefully with friends and family.

Terrific Location and Great Accomidations!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 arrived at Sunnyhill for a three night stay and it was such a wonderful event. Tim was very good to work with and responded well when we had email interaction as well as in Ireland. This three bedroom was clean, well appointed and an open plan for the first floor which made it easy to prepare meals, enjoy TV and card playing. We followed Tim's suggestions on travel to Dingle and his map and help was appreciated. The fun of the location was that we were within 3 minute walk to downtown Killarney which had great pubs (Murphy's was one of our favorites) and great meal locations (Foley's Seafood House was fabulous). Looking for sweaters - you will find many a location for shopping. Downtown Killarney has a large food shopping store in the middle of town (parked deep behind some of the street shops). Go to the French Bakery for fresh authentic baked goods and they even had lunch items. Coming home to Sunnyhill after a day out shopping or in the countryside was like coming home. Laundry facilities better than other locations we were in but expect that the dryers don't work like here in the USA. We enjoyed the travel and we plan to come back to Sunnyhill again. Tim's wife graciously gave us scones on one of our mornings - Yum. Although in some of the tour books Killarney is not given high marks we found the people and location to be grand.
