We were blessed with lovely weather despite it being March and felt compelled to write this review for Jayne as we had such a wonderful stay.
My grand children are already planning there next visit to Ashdene, the dance machine was a big hit and the pool so lovely and warm we were lucky that the new hot tub arrived a few days before us and we made good use of this.
I can't thank the owners enough for taking the time to help my Mother (92) come out and make her bedroom even warmer than it already was.
Would I recommend Ashdene yes 100% and we are definitely coming back in September to make use of the gardens next. A very special place.
Brilliant holiday, kids lived in the pool, cinema used every day, just add popcorn and relax!
House well equipped, clean, with lots of space for everybody.
Found lots to entertain the kids within acceptable distances,
Relaxing evenings sitting in garden enjoying the sun.
We were a family spread out all over the country so logistically this worked really well for us.
Accommodation is mostly open plan and of a very good standard.
Overall we had a lovely time and made good use of the games room and the weather was kind too.
Our children said it was the best holiday they have had so far but that's because they hid away in the games room all the time.
Pool was hot hot hot !!!.
A picky negative could do with a bigger TV in the lounge area (currently 32 I think ) which the owners have said will be replaced when it's broken for a much bigger one.
Gardens are big enough to play games in and are surrounded by fields so great if children or pets are staying.
Hope you find this review helpful.
Thank you to the extremely friendly and helpful owners for which nothing was too much trouble . We loved the location, facilities ( pool superb especially ) and ideal location for exploring ancient wilts and the Cotswolds amongst others . Overall great quality and attention to detail we'll be back :)
Furnished and maintained to a high standard, the property is ideal for groups of families or friends for a few days away. Pool is warm and clean and the games / cinema room, whilst small, is a great option for wet weather. The upside down layout seems to work well (open plan kitchen / dining room / lounge on top floor) for most set ups. Only small down side is you have to take your own towels and bolster the limited supply of loo roll which is disappointing given the price.
My wife and I visited Ashdene Cottage on 1st July at the owners’ invitation. We were worried by some very critical views on TA and, as we had booked an important long family weekend later in July, we took up the invitation. We arrived when the house was being thoroughly cleaned by an active team of at least 6 people between bookings. We also met the owners who could not have been more welcoming. We were shown everything and given free access to all rooms. The rooms were in good condition throughout and the bathrooms were of a high standard. The layout is unusual with the modern kitchen, dining area and lounge all open plan upstairs as well as two bedrooms. Downstairs is good kids room with 4 beds, the master room with en suite, another smaller double room and a family bathroom plus utility room.
But it’s the entertainment facilities which are the star attraction. The hot tub is brand new and state of the art, the pool is a great size, about 12m long at a guess and is kept delightfully warm. The roof in the pool house is a recent addition and enables its use whatever the weather. There is a brand new table tennis table, small cinema, dance machine, pool table, air hockey, and no doubt other things I have forgotten. Outside is a good sized safe garden. There is a large trampoline, though no net; a slide and swing (on order) and a BBQ. The property is not overlooked and is on a small road with little passing traffic while we were there.
This is a well equipped holiday house in a semi rural location. It is professionally run by caring owners and would make a great place for up to 12 people staying, as it says on the owners web site www.holidaylet.biz. Unfortunately, we had a misunderstanding about the numbers and we were 14 and that is the only reason we have not fulfilled our booking but we have no hesitation in recommending the property.
We had so much fun at Ashdene it was my sister's hen party and the dance machine was used all weekend and to say our legs were like jelly is an understatement but I can't emphasize the fun we had in the games building.
Pool very warm and hot tub was an added bonus. We had an action packed weekend with catering, belly dancing and facials. The cottage is great for any gathering and is almost completely open plan on the first floor which suited our needs but it may not be for everyone. We had one issue on arrival and that was we forgot to bring towels even though we were told but Mr. Joyce found 8 towels and we bought the rest so everything worked out ok.
It's a lovely homely cottage and very well catered for, we are planning another visit next year and I can't wait.
Ashdene Cottage is set in a small village outside Lechlade in the Cotswolds but is ideal for travelling to Shakespeare Country, Stow on the Wold, Moreton in the Marsh, Burford, Cheltenham, or 30 miles away is Bath The famous Roman City and on your doorstep is Avebury and Stonehenge.
If the children are coming then Roves Farm is 1 mile away and is great for all the family with lots of farm animals which the children can feed at feeding times, Tractor rides, Big indoor play and loads more.
Ice Rink centre is about 8 miles as is Designer Outlet for shopping which is a big tourist attraction, Oasis leisure centre with the best rapids for miles, and Longleat safari park but to name a few.
Beaches are about 1 hour and 20 minutes the best one from here is Bournmouth with its golden sandy beach or Weston Super Mare which has a pebble beach.
There are some great Pubs on the River very close by and lovely Restaurants within a close proximity.
