Swimming pool, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, terraces, Internet, Mallorca farmland

FALL 2016 SPECIAL!

This is a picturesque large remodeled farmhouse with a private swimming pool (sleeps up to 8 people). During the restoration of the house (250 sq. m.) much emphasis was placed on combining modern amenities with traditional charm. It is located on a large property with fruit trees, orange groves and canopies of grapes.

The ground floor has a living room, 2 bedrooms with double beds, 1 bath with tub/shower, a dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, large dining table with chairs. The first floor consists of 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. One with double bed and bathroom en-suite, the other with two single beds. There is also large living room with satellite TV and a fireplace.

The terrace on the first floor has a panoramic view over the surrounding countryside and the Tramuntana mountains. On the back, there is a shady breakfast terrace and herb garden. The villa lies off a quiet country lane in the very pretty countryside surrounding of the town of Lloret and very close to the picturesc Sineu.

This house is a very comfortable and fully equipped property with central heat and wood burning stoves which makes the house the perfect choice even during the winter months. It has been in the same family since it was built in the late 18th century.

It is located a short drive to Sineu: Lloret de Vistalegre, also known as Llorito, is a municipality located in the center of Majorca, one of the Balearic Islands, Spain. The municipality covers a land area of 17 km² and as of 2008 it had a total population of 1249 inhabitants. The municipalities bordering Lloret de Vistalegre are: Montuïri, Sineu, Sencelles, Algaida y Sant Joan. In the beginning of August there is a major party called 'Es Sequer', which is a gastronomical celebration around the fig fruit. The municipality activities are mainly revolved around agriculture, livestock and some rural tourism establishments. Just five minutes drive from the house you will be able to enjoy one of the best loved towns in Mallorca, Sineu with it's Wednesday Market. Sineu is a a small village full of vitality. Some of the best Mallorca golf courses are at less than 30 kilometres: Pula, Roca Viva, and the new Golf Son Gual is just 15 minutes away. Nonetheless, if you really want to relax, the best option is to stay by the pool.

Charming and peaceful rural retreat : This vacation villa is a charming and peaceful rural retreat set in a beautifully restored eighteenth-century country house. Not far from the house there is the historic market town of Sineu is just four kilometers away. It is perhaps Mallorca's most attractive town of the interior with his 14th-century royal palace and an interesting traditional market that takes place every Wednesday until 2pm. The house is located in the municipality of Lloret de Vistalegre, also known as Llorito, in the center of Majorca.

• Sineu gives the visitors a perfect taste of Mallorca’s history. Remains like the Son Rossinyol and Son Vanrell 'talaiots', from the megalithic era, its old names such as 'Sinium' during the roman occupation or'Yiynau' during the Arab époque, the biggest parish church on the island Nostra Senyora de los Angeles, dating back from the 13th century, or the palace built by the order of Jaume II the King in 1309 on the remains of an antique Arab building to be his residence, can give the visitor and idea of the ancient culture the village carries inside.

Sineu is also proud to be the capital to the Spring Fairs (“Fires de Primavera' in mallorquin) with Sa Fira, celebrated every year during the 1st Sunday of May. Also, every Wednesday during all year round,Sineu has it own market having place at the main square, well known by the locals all around the island and highly reccommed among other Mallorca markets.

Those willing to try the authentic Mallorca dishes will found Sineu to be the perfect place, as it is plenty of 'Cellers' (the typhical mallorcan restaurants) serving dishes as the traditional roast suckling pig (most known there as “lechona') or the lamb thigh (“paletilla de cordero'). A Best of Mallorca favourite is Sa Plaça, on the church square: ask for the 'frito de marisco' (deliciuos), made of vegetables and seafood, a variation of the Mallorca typhical 'frito'.

Sineu is also really interesting for cultural strolls and gives well in place information to visitors so they can do it themselves with no need of a guide.

If you do come to Sineu during the warm season, sitting outside a bar and watch the time go by while you feel its peace and tranquillity is a must. And do not forget to try the 'hierbas', the mallorcan liquor! bestofmallorca.net

• Majorca remains a choice spot for a winter weekend abroad. Easily reached and with more than 200 four or five-star hotels to choose from, the island is perfect for a few days of touring and tapas – come rain or shine.

'We get plenty of sun in winter,' says Valerie Crespi-Green, an English nurse who has lived on the island for more than 30 years and leads guided walks through the magnificent peaks of the Serra de Tramuntana. She recommends a visit in late January or early February, when the island's four million almond trees are in blossom. If there's a nip in the air, pop into a café for a reviving lumumba (hot chocolate with brandy) – or just move to another part of the island. Simply by taking a short drive south from the mountains to the sea you can find yourself swapping cardigans for short sleeves.

With its tree-lined promenades, abundant art museums, swirling Modernista architecture and cosy bars – plus a six-mile seafront cycle path for fighting the Yuletide flab – Palma is made for a stress-free city break. Nigel Tisdall for The Telegraph.

C'an Bartomeu & the village of Lloret de Vistalegre was a perfect base for our cycling trip. Unlike the Pollensa area it opens up many more routes, flat or mountainous. The house is very comfortable, spacious & well equipped, especially if you prefer a quiet rural location. Iris & Michael were the perfect agents for the property & we really appreciated the way they were able to accommodate both a late night arrival & late departure. We appreciate that this would not be an option at peak season times but it worked well in April. Score: 100%!

Gorgeous house and location and full of character.

We traveled with one set of grandparents and our two daughters. We were looking for a rustic country style house to be able to relax and this house really appealed to us and and the house and ground did not let it down, it is truly picturesque.

This house is a photographers dream, the evening light is just amazing and I feel the house would be perfectly suited for a group of photographers or a photography workshop, it just have so many features inside and on the ground that would be a great backdrop.

You are really in the middle of the country and you become part of the Spanish country life and the property featured a number of fruit trees and the girls enjoyed picking lemons and oranges. The property also boast of animal life. On the property itself we spotted 5 cats, a ginger cat with poor eye sight was very contact seeking and spent most of his day with us. We also got to meet a little Tortie mummy who had a litter of 3 kittens which were tiny and two of them had an eye infection so we got some eye drops and treated them whilst we were there which my girls really enjoyed. The girls went from swimming in the pool to feeding sheeps, donkeys, cats and kittens. If you are an animal lover like us, you will love this house.

With all that said there was a few drawbacks which is the reason we have only rated this house a 4.

We needed Wifi, the nature of our work means that we may have to do work and the 3G dongle was really unreliable. So if you are a bit of a social media junkie, like to browse the Internet then the Wifi/Internet connection offered on this property is insufficient.

There was weekly pool cleaning included in the price of the villa, but we were not happy with the pool cleaning. When the pool was cleaned they never cleaned the bottom of the pool. Luckily Granddad has looked after pools in his job and knew the system and how to clean the bottom from flies, mosquito, wasps etc.

In addition to the lack of the pool cleaning, the chemicals used in the pool turned the pale pink and white in our swimwear yellow.

The house has free standing fans, but the upstairs of the house got really warm and it was difficult to sleep.

The house would also benefit from a welcome pack/ Information pack.

As a whole I would recommend this property to others as it is really picturesque and lovely. The drawbacks would be an easy fix and it would not take a lot to bring it up to a 5 star rating.

Thank you for the stay.

We love Mallorca!

  • 5 of 5

It was not our first time in Mallorca, we love the island.

The center of the island in general and this house in particular it is a simply perfect location. We had a week at this lovely place with our 3 children. With our adventurous spirit, we had a chance to discover many unknown places in the island.

We are going back this summer so we do not hesitate to recommend it to whoever is looking for a very authentic taste of Mallorca.

Lovely country house at Mallorca

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in this wonderful finca in the centre of Mallorca. We stayed for 10 days at this property with our three children in the ages of 9, 11 and 13. The house has a lot of space inside, the kitchen is well equipped. Our daughters loved the three bathrooms. The weather in may was good enough to use the swimming pool, which our children did within half an hour after our arrival. They also enjoyed the lemon and orange trees nearby the swimming pool. It is also a good place from where you can make day trips around the island. Because the house is in the middle of Mallorca you are never far away from the sea or the mountains. We sometimes even stayed at 'home' so the children could play and enjoy themselves around the house. We took the time to read books at one of the terraces where we could always find a place in or out of the sun. In short we can say this was one of the most amazing houses we ever rented during our holiday.

PEACEFUL COUNTRY VILLA

  • 5 of 5

We arrived in Majorca ready for a relaxing break and we certainly found this at this lovely villa. It is set in rolling countryside in the centre of the island providing an ideal quiet base yet it is within easy drive of all the sights and beaches. This character property is well equipped and maintained to a high standard, (the wifi is an added bonus!). The sun is on the lovely pool all day but you can also relax in the sun on the upstairs terrace. Each evening we sat on the terrace with a glass of local wine watching the sun go down.

We enjoyed picking the variety of fruit in the garden especially the grapes and plums. This rural setting adds to the villas' charm yet the nearby villages offer a variety of places to eat out and the local markets are great fun!

We origanally booked for a week but stayed on for another week as we found the place so relaxing!

Lloret de Vistalegre, also known as Llorito, is a municipality located in the center of Majorca, one of the Balearic Islands, Spain. • The island’s hugely popular as a cycling destination and great for beginners if you avoid the Tramuntana mountains in the west. Inntravel has a week-long route from the southern beaches to the agricultural plains. It’s a great way to experience authentic Majorca in sleepy towns such as Sineu, Son Mercadal and Lloret. You’ll stay in comfortable agriturismos – rural estates that offer a very different experience to the crowded resorts. Majorie, travel editor of The Mirror. 'Top Ten Cycling Holidays'

• Fringed by sandy beaches, rocky coves and clear seas, Mallorca is a favourite holiday destination. Mass tourism has made its mark – Palma airport processes more than 22 million passengers a year, and all those visitors have to stay somewhere. But the largest of the Spanish Balearic Islands is big and varied enough for many different types of holiday.

Mallorca is full of unexpected treats, from a 7000-year-old Stone Age house to the glamorous modern art galleries of the elegant capital Palma. It's easy to escape the crowds by heading inland to the island's unspoilt countryside and mountains.

There's an open market somewhere on the island every day. One of most colourful is Sineu's on Wednesdays. You'll find stalls of art, craft, antiques and leather shoes, belts, bags and clothes. But watch for street sellers hawking fake gold jewellery in resorts – always check hallmarks. Simon Heptinstall, TravelMail

• Although the season gets going in May and winds down in October, the islands are beautiful in early spring when the almond blossom is out. Outside the hottest months of July and August, all the Balearics are good for activity holidays, whether easy or more challenging, with plenty to see if you are interested in plants or birds.

From late January and throughout February, the almond trees -  about four million of them – are in flower in the valleys and across the plains of Majorca.  This is traditionally low season, when accommodation and flights are cheapest, and while it may not be warm enough to lie on the beach, the temperature is usually just right for exploring the countryside in the sunshine.

Professional cyclists come to train in the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range in the west of the island, which is now a World Heritage Site. If that sounds a bit challenging, base yourself in the foothills of the range in the Es Raigeur area, where there are quite a few gorgeous boutique hotels.  Or stick to the reassuringly flat Es Pla in the centre of the island, where rural tourism is also quietly gaining ground.

Although not untouched by tourism, the hitherto unfashionable towns and villages of the interior have hung onto their traditions and are now coming into their own. A day’s cycling or hiking may well also involve visiting a winery, an olive mill or a farm to learn how sobrasada, the Majorcan pork sausage, is made.

Majorcan chefs are reviving traditional recipes and adapting them to suit modern tastes. There are now six Michelin-starred restaurants on the island, serving dishes you are unlikely to find anywhere else. This renewed enthusiasm for the local cuisine is however also evident everywhere from unpretentious restaurants in mountain villages to the chic gastrobars and delis popping up in Palma.

If you can’t get there to see the almond blossom, go in late spring when the cherry trees are flowering, or in the autumn to witness – or take part in – the grape and olive harvests. Then head to a hidden cove and plunge into the turquoise sea.

Although most resorts close down in the winter months, Palma is great for a weekend break all year round and life goes on in the villages on all the islands. If you want to do more than just lie on a beach, take advantage of the low rates in winter and get a taste of real life in the Balearics. Annie Bennett for The Telegraph
