Welcome to Thatchtree Hill situated in South Eleuthera in The Bahamas. This beautiful house is approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) north of the Rock Sound International Airport and about 1.5 miles (2.5 km) north of the village of Rock Sound. Rock Sound is about 60 miles (100 km) from Nassau and approximately 240 miles (380 km) as the crow flies from Miami, Florida. The house is situated on a parcel of 4 acres of land at the crest of a small hill and is surrounded on all sides by tropical trees so that there are no other houses within view. There is an enormous 100 year old banyan tree next to the house. As well, there are numerous fruit trees including sour orange, tangerine, lime, macadamia and almond trees. The house takes its name from the hill itself where there are numerous palm trees whose leaves were formerly used for thatching roofs. It is a colonial style bungalow built in 1940 with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, living room, dining room and sunroom. In the front is a large screened-in porch with chairs and a small table which is very pleasant for sitting during the day. There are air-conditioners in two bedrooms and a portable air conditioner for the living room for the hottest parts of the year. The living room, kitchen and screened porch all have ceiling fans and the house enjoys a virtually continuous breeze owing to its location atop the hill. There are also two portable fans for use in various parts of the house. There is a small swimming pool which is nice for cooling off on hot days. The house has a Maytag gas stove, Maytag refrigerator and Bosch dishwasher and a General Electric washer and Maytag dryer. There's also a clothesline outdoors if guests want to hang clothes to dry in the sun.
There is a resident caretaker in a separate house on the property.
