About the property

5 BR/5 full baths w/ Private Beach Front, sleeps up to 12

Blue Shore is your perfect vacation home that sleeps up to 12 people. You will enjoy the large and open feel of this home styled in beach cottage chic but with today's modern amenities. Located just 5 miles from downtown Traverse City on Leelanau Peninsula, Blue Shore offers private waterfront, comfortable home with water views from almost every room, and amazing sunrises that you will remember for years to come!

Blue Shore is an expansive home perfect for large families, couples retreats or the girls/guys get away weekend with views of the bay from almost every room.

Right when you walk in, you are immediately greeted by a 2 story open concept with windows everywhere. The open feel extends into the kitchen, dining, and living room area all overlooking large doors that open to let the lake breeze in.

The kitchen has all amenities, including a double oven and granite counter tops. It opens directly to dining area that has a large table that can seat up to 8 people comfortably. Kitchen and dining area open to the living room that has a large couch perfect for relaxing and enjoying the views or watching TV on the 52 inch flat screen above the stone gas fireplace. Step outside on the decks overlooking the beach and water to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or late night glass of wine.

Down the hall off the dining area is a full guest bathroom plus a laundry room with washer/dryer. 1st level also features a master bedroom with private bathroom, king bed and large doors with private deck to take in the water views. 2 additional bedrooms, 1 with queen & 1 with full beds, share a private jack and jill style bathroom.

2nd level has a large master bedroom with king bed, private bathroom and doors that open up to a private deck. Upper level has 2 living areas with stone fireplaces and large doors that open to let more fresh air in. This space is perfect for extra sleeping or kids' play area. It even features a wet bar! 2nd level houses a dormer with 2 twin bunk beds for a total of 4 sleeping spaces.

Basement level has a large sitting area with a TV and another stone fireplace, another full kitchen and another full bathroom with sauna. It is perfect not have to run up and downstairs to main area all day as it has large doors that open right outside to your own private beach. We just opened up the wine cellar with a large table to enjoy intimate dinners and wine tasting.

Beach area is just a few steps down from house. With water levels high there isn't much sand but you can still walk down and wade in the beautiful water. Launch your kayaks or paddle boards from the dock or enjoy the sitting area to watch boats drive by. Dock is removed from mid-September through early/mid May due to winter weather; otherwise it should be ready for your enjoyment.

Blue Shore is the ideal 'Up North' retreat. Not only can you enjoy your own private beach but her location is perfect for day trips....go wine tasting, explore Suttons Bay, check out the Dunes, golf or ski-depending on the time of year, shop downtown Traverse City, drive along the famous M22, and so much, MUCH more!

About Ben and Jenna

We are full time Northern Michigan residents who love the beach, boat as much as we can, chase around a 6 and 2 year old, and enjoy all Northern Michigan has to offer.

Ben and Jenna purchased this house in 2012

Why Ben and Jenna chose Traverse City

Blue Shore was empty for a few years before we bought her. We pain stankingly updated her and refreshed her with a little DIY to bring her back to all of her glory. She has the most amazing Lake Michigan water views, beautiful beach and gorgeous sunrises in all of the world-believe us, we like to travel. We bought Blue Shore to eventually live in full time but for now, we get to share it with you.

What makes this house unique

Can we say water views from almost every room? You bet! Blue Shore is unique that you can experience Northern Michigan nature all around you from almost every room in this 4900 square foot house.

Beautiful views in a great location.

  • 4 of 5

The house was clean, spacious and located in a very convenient location. We really enjoyed our stay. The sauna was amazing after a long day in the cold but we weren't able to get the fire back up and running. The support in trying to get it to light was there though- they answered quickly and tried to assist as best they could. Would have liked to have known the other fireplaces weren't operative and would like more seating options in the living areas. We were still very pleased. comfy beds, clean house, BEAUTIFUL VIEWS. I am sure it is even more breathtaking in the summer and during the color change. Some of us enjoyed the sunrise and a warm cup of coffee through all of the large windows. The balconys were cool too- but it was too cold to enjoy them this time of year!

Thanks for having us. We had such a nice weekend.

Girls Weekend

  • 5 of 5

This is our 2nd visit to Blue Shore. The accommidations were great. This is a very spacious home with a very relaxing atmosphere. Plenty of bedrooms and bath rooms for 12 adults. All the beds were comfortable with fresh towels set out upon our arrival. The kitchen was stocked with the necessary utensiles, pots, pans and coffee pots. (FYI Need to bring your own TP and garbage bags.) It's in a good location to explore the area. Last year we experienced awesome sun rises. This year we had the opportunity to enjoy a bright orange moon rise on Friday evening as we sat around the fire pit. Thanks to Ben and Jenna for sharing their property with us.

Owner's Response: We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay again at Blue Shore House! And we agree, the sunrises and the occasional full/bright moons are amazing. We always try to have the house stocked full of basic amenities like TP, garbage bags, dish soap, laundry soap, and paper towels so all guests have to worry about when the arrive is relaxing :). We apologize that wasn't available--next time just give us a call and we can help. Thanks again and hope to have you back!

Could be great - Needs cleaning and updating

  • 3 of 5

This house is very roomy and well stocked with supplies. The owners are lovely and very accommodating. The location is great, although the lack of a beach is unfortunate - nothing anyone can do about that. I would like to give the place a higher rating. However, it badly needs painting and the furniture is old, uncomfortable, badly stained. Some of the beds were very uncomfortable and the pillows were extremely old, flat. The ground floor master's comforter was torn, as was a throw pillow - both has filling spilling out. Some of the doors wouldn't close or only would with extreme pressure. The carpeting and rugs were smelly and dirty. The backyard was overgrown with weeds. (Kitchen was fine and everything functioned.) The downstairs is large, but not very usable - it would benefit from a sofa bed.

Owner's Response: We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and are always appreciative of feedback and apologize that there were some things that were not as expected. We work hard to make all of our guests' stays comfortable and perfect and recognize that did not happen. In fact, several of the door issues were addressed and carpets were cleaned already. Thanks again for staying with us and hope to have you back again soon! Ben and Jenna (owners)

Beautiful setting for a wedding week.

  • 5 of 5

An amazing home to prepare and celebrate our daughters wedding. We danced on the dock with our granddaughter and our girls, howled at the moon and the newlyweds did there first look on the dock. We'd love to send you pictures...

Great home for family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This was my first vacation in 10 years and our first "family" vacation since my children have grown and moved away. We had 11 people total including 3 children under 5. I was really hoping that the house would be as wonderful as the pictures made it look. Let's just say...success!!!!

From the picturesque drive to the house to the view of the water from all the decks and main living area, it was perfect! You are so close to the water that the waves lull you to sleep at night. So peaceful.

The owners, Ben & Jenna responded to some questions we had immediately and Ben even came out to trouble shoot an issue with the air conditioner. They made our vacation very memorable and we can not thank them enough.

The house itself is nicely laid out and fully supplied from towels and sheets to everything needed in the kitchen including napkins, straws and even sandwich baggies and some basic seasonings. With 2 kitchens (main floor and downstairs walk out), you can really host a very large family and not have everyone getting underfoot. The bedrooms were nice sized. Not the small dinky rooms that some homes have. The upstairs has a lovely divided family room that is perfect for the kids to play in. The main area was large enough to hold all of us at one time. Huge plus! The decks are wonderful and there are several. Morning coffee was perfect on the main deck. The dock is really nice for sitting on and watching the boats or soaking up some sun. Ben & Jenna provide light weight chairs that can be carried to the wide end of the dock giving you the opportunity to sit out there and have some quiet time. We loved the Wine cellar room in the lower level of the home. It has a table in it that we used to play games after the kiddies had gone to bed and yes, to drink wine too! lol. Morning strolls out to the deck and wading into the clear water was fun for all of us.

The house is located minutes to town, wineries, restaurants, Pirates Cove for some family fun, many beaches, marinas, and lots of shops. It is the perfect location.

To sum it up, we had a wonderful time and would love to come back to do it all over again. Score A+++ for first family trip in years!
