Local Activities: There is excellent walking through local coutryside and forests on marked 'chemins rurales', canoeing on the Dordogne river (generally regarded as one of the most beautiful in France), and a local lake with watersports, beach and restaurant. The local 'Route de Vins' passes close by and there is a huge range of vignerons and cooperatives producing really excellent wines at very reasonable prices. There is a superb west facing terrace at Les Heritiers for barbecuing and sampling the local wine. It catches the evening sun and sunset views over the valley and is a delightful place to end the day

Sunny Days at Les Heritiers

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful house in light limestone with a lovely pool in the quiet countryside. Both times we have stayed at Les Heritiers, we had fabulous weather, long sunny days. Great place just to relax or use as a base for walking, canoeing, cycling or touring (a thoughtful owner provides bikes for 3 Adults and 2 children). It is a great location with easy access to the attractive bastide town of St Foy La Grande which is great for food supplies and restaurants. There are many great places to visit within easy reach in the surrounding area, as well as the many local vineyards. St Emlion is a really great place to visit, a historic town and centre of the Bordeaux wine trade.

Les Heritiers

  • 5 of 5

We have been holidaying in France for the last 12 years and have stumbled upon a property that we just had to revisit.

It is an absolutely perfect retreat for those that wish to just chill by the pool or in the comfortably furnished amply proportioned rooms, and equally perfect for those that wish to spend a busier holiday sightseeing either by car or by bike. The beautifully quiet countryside has much to offer including kyacking, cycling, horseriding and fishing all within a short distance from the property and the neighbouring towns provide a wealth of activities and fantastic local cuisine.

There are also an abundant choice of walks, long and short, for those that wish to explore the surrounding area.

The property is beautifully maintained and the housekeepers very diligent in keeping the pool well looked after and offering fresh linen once a week. The owner was always on hand to speak with and very helpful with local information and advice.

Les Heritiers

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Les Heritiers for one week, last July (2010) and were so delighted that we are returning again this year for two weeks. The house is beautiful, spacious and comfortable and has everything you could possibly need, a real home from home with lots of character. The private pool and gardens are fantastic, quiet and peaceful, we were able to completely relax. The rural location is also great within walking distance of the local vineyards. I would certainly recommend this property to anyone.

The house is located in an area of beautiful countryside, in a small valley with woods and vineyards nearby. The house and garden are not overlooked, there are two neigbouring houses and the hamlet of Nastringues about 1km away, so the house is not remote. Lots of local opportunities for holiday activities; fun golf, the Dordogne river with canoeing and fishing is 5 mins away by car, leisure lake with windsurfing, beach and restaurant about 5 mins away, tennis in St Foy 10 mins, superb golf at the Chateau de Vigiers about 20 mins. There are lots of paths for walking through local woods and the quiet local roads are ideal for cycling, 5 bikes are provided. The 'Route de Vins' passes close by, taking you to the many local wine producers who sell direct to the public. The area is on the border of the Bordeaux and Bergerac wine regions so there is lots of choice. St Emilion is about 25 mins by car, a beautiful hilltop medieval town. St Foy la Grande, 5 mins, is a beautiful bastide town on the river Dordogne.
