Overview

About the property

3 bedrooms/2 full baths with beautiful mountain views

Enjoy our true log cabin, built in 1941. Our log cabin stands proudly and beautifully in its original condition with an addition of a master suite with full bath. Our deck boasts a beautiful view of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and in front is a cozy screened in porch to relax and read, enjoy coffee, or just talk.

We're located 10-12 minutes from the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and from the other direction, about 10 minutes from Culpeper, Virginia.

Our cabin is set by Route 522W, on six acres at your disposal to enjoy, although there is no need to leave the deck with the views.

We are about an hour from the Washington D.C. beltway, an hour from the University of Virginia and Monticello, and only 45 minutes to Luray Caverns, and the Shenandoah River, where the canoeing and fishing are great.

The quaint little town of Sperryville, VA is only 10-12 minutes away where you can still stroll the streets and little shops and sample all types of dining.

We are only 20 minutes from the famous five star restaurant, 'The Inn of Little Washington'.

Lots of hiking is available on 'Old Rag Mountain', or travel the Blue Ridge Parkway and stop for a picnic at one of the parks.

There is always something to do in the area. you can be in the city shopping or sightseeing in less than an hour, or stay in the country and enjoy nature while enjoying the birds, or listening to the rivers, and the wind russeling through the trees (we prefer the latter).

If all this isn't enough, Lake Anna is only about 45 minutes away.

We could go on and on, but we'll leave you with these little tidbits of things to do. We'll also leave this information for you at the cabin.

Just a little more information that you will find important: Our home is clean and updated with modern appliances and Central Air and heating, along with cable TV in a quaint country setting just waiting to help you relax and lose all the stress and tension that this world has to offer. Cook out on the grill and/or enjoy a campfire.

We've prepared our cabin the way we would like to have it if we were on vacation. We're looking forward to opening 'The Melody Rose Cabin' doors to you.

We live only only a few miles down the road. If you have any needs that we haven't already provided, just give us a call.

**Small dogs allowed on a case by case basis with an additional deposit**

Nice place to stay if visiting Shenandoah Nat park

  • 3 of 5

Very pretty house with a nice screened in porch and plenty of bedrooms for a family get together. Close to Shenandoah Nat park. Enjoyed the outdoor firepit and the childrens toys. Nice kitchen with many amenities for those that enjoy cooking.

Great cabin with character

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay! My daughter couldn't get enough of all the nick-nacks and toys 😄. Spacious rooms, nice outside dinner room at the front and a back deck. Kitchen worked well, snacks and welcome note were a nice touch. Thanks!

Cozy cabin close to Old Rag

  • 4 of 5

A group of friends and I just recently had a stay at the cabin. We came up to hike Old Rag Mountain. The location of the cabin was perfect for that. The cabin was also convienantly located between Culpeper and Sperryville, which was nice. There were cookies on the table when we arrived, which was super sweet. Loved the view out back on the deck. Cabin was super cute and homey. We had everything we could have needed. The only downsides were initially we arrived late at night and the cabin was really hard to find. Having it more lit up would have been helpful. And we were unaware of the driveway that goes around back until the second day. Which would have been super helpful because the front parking is extremely minimal and right off the main road and a bit scary. Having that extra driveway labeled or pointed out would be super helpful. Other than that loved it. Would def keep it in mind to stay again. Thank you.

Nice house with greater potential

  • 3 of 5

My family stayed at this house for a week. House was nicely decorated and well stocked. First floor is perfect with a living room, kitchen, dining room, a bedroom with large bath and laundry room. See below for suggested improvements on the second floor. The manager of the house (Andrew) was very responsive and helpful during booking. We ate out most days, so didn't get to use the screened porch, but it looked nice. We also enjoyed the beautiful farm land surroundings. This house is close to a main road - you do hear cars driving by at night. Also beware that this area has virtually no cell service (Verizon, TMobile didn't work at all). You have to drive a couple of miles to downtown to get a cell signal.

Suggested improvements:

- Second floor bathroom desperately needs updating (no shower, old carpet floor, no counter space)

- Second floor bedrooms / carpeting need a deep cleaning

- This house attracts lady bugs - many of them end up dead all over the place; we didn't mind that much, but I imagine it can be annoying to others

Sister's Vacation

  • 4 of 5

We are three sisters who take a vacation each year, this is our 28th year and we take turns hosting and planning our week. We like to rent a house or cabin so we can spread out and relax, do some cooking and sight seeing in the area. This year I chose Culpeper, VA area and when looking for a place Melody Rose Cabin came up in my search. We loved the rustic look of the cabin, location was great for places we wanted to visit, close to Fredericksburg, Blue Ridge Mountains and northern Virginia. The inside of the home had every thing we could ask for, all the rooms are very comfortable with space to move around and the back deck is awesome with a wonderful view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. There is also a screened side porch that was great to eat on and was very relaxing to sit during a rain shower. The owners left an assortment of snacks along with a welcome note which was very thoughtful and appreciated. I would recommend this cabin to friends and family visiting this area of Virginia.
