About Susan Brunner

Following years of studying, working and traveling in France, we are complete Francophiles hoping to retire to Burgundy in the future. Our daughters both love France too, and although still at school and university, spend as much time as possible working with us to ensure that the rentals at Rue Montmeix are everything you could want. Sometimes we will be there to welcome guests, but on the occasions we are not, we have a wonderful local manager to look after you. The most enjoyable thing is sharing recommendations of wine and food between our guests and recommending local attractions.

Susan Brunner purchased this house in 2011

Why Susan Brunner chose Meursault

After years of wanting to buy in France, we had decided on the wine villages of Burgundy as our favorite location. We wanted to be in one of the prime villages of the area, with easy access to beautiful Beaune. Unable to find property to rent of the quality we required over the years, we were thrilled to find the house through a local firm of property designers and builders - although needing total renovation we fell in love with the charm and peace of numéro 6 immediately, totally won over by the stone, woodwork and fabulously peaceful views.

What makes this house unique

Rue Montmeix is truly our piece of paradise, which we love sharing! Uniquely positioned only 150 metres from the village square and all its amenities (2 bakers, great butcher, small supermarket, kitchen shop, Tabac, three or four restaurants and 50 vignerons!), the two houses that we rent out have been newly renovated from the beautiful stone winemaker's barn that our house (yet to be renovated!) is part of. The houses are calm and quiet, light and cool in summer, and warm and cosy in the winter, with some amazing stone walls and a beautiful oak frame, all carefully renovated by local master craftsmen. They face south, with a small vineyard in front, a newly reclaimed one being planted to the right, and views up to the vine-covered hills.

The outside space is huge, especially for a wine village - each house has its own parking space, lots of privacy and its own outside bbq and eating area. In addition, the two rentals share a luxurious decked area, boule court area, and top of the range hot tub.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Could not be better! In the middle of a delightful village with plenty of nice shops and good restaurants. Delightful, newly decorated in immaculate condition overlooking a vineyard. Very spacious. This property has everything you could wish for, a splendid very well equipped modern kitchen with every amenity. The large living room was so comfortable with a wide screen TV which tuned into English speaking channels. The DVD player and DVDs were a nice treat.

Upstairs the bedrooms both have comfortable king sized beds and large bathrooms en suite. One bathroom has a large walk in shower.

The outside patio has lounge chairs, hot tub, bbq grill, and table with a very nice space for outdoor meals or just lounging. Cannot imagine finding a nicer rental. Being in a smaller village made using our car much easier.

Our week here was a fabulous experience which we hope to repeat soon.

Fresh, modern two story apartment in an old farmhouse located in an impossibly idyllic village.

  • 5 of 5

We spent 2 1/2 weeks at this property and in a word, it was perfect.

The residence, I would call it an attached townhouse, is in a lovingly renovated old farmhouse. While it has been completely modernized, charming touches of the past such as beams and exposed stone walls, remain. Its neutral décor is upscale, calming, and comfortable. It is fully equipped with many thoughtful touches: crisp white sheets, fluffy towels, an umbrella, etc., nothing has been overlooked.

Which brings me to point two, the owners, Susie and Andy. They are living their dream in this Burgundian paradise and are eager to share their enthusiasm and advice. As lovely and charming as the house, they provide helpful suggestions, both with a complete information booklet before you arrive and also with their ongoing support and advice during your stay.

Third, location, location, location! The property is perfectly situated in the village so every morning I was able to walk 3 min to the boulangerie to buy our baguette and croissants! Yet from the windows of the apartment we looked out on rows of grapevines just beyond the yard and the inviting sun-bathing patios of the house—could the location be more picture perfect? We think not!

Last but not least, Meursault is in the heart of Burgundy! Beaune, the center of the Côte d’Or is 10m by car, Dijon, 45 and there are scores of sweet villages to explore within a very short radius. Wine tastings, historical sites, Roman ruins, village markets, castles, cycling, all this and so much more to see and experience!

We travel a lot all over the world both for work and pleasure and have never been more pleased than we were by our time here!

Thanks and hugs to Susie and Andy!

An amazing location and beautiful home! The owners are extremely welcoming and accommodating!

  • 5 of 5

Susan and Andy were the most amazing hosts in this spectacular home. The home was perfectly equipped, clean and welcoming for our stay. Susan and Andy generously provided all the necessities and even welcomed us with a bottle of wine. We greatly enjoyed the view from every window as the home was surrounded by vineyards. We explored The area from Dijon to Santanay and felt that this home’s location was absolutely perfect. Susan and Andy made us feel like we had been friends for years and we will truly miss them and hope to return some day. Warmest regards, Mike, Susan, Jeff, and Renee

Absolutely first rate in every way

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful property in a lovely quiet location with vineyard views yet just a few minutes’ walk from the village centre. Don’t worry if it’s as good as the pictures - it’s even better and Susan is a great hostess.

Exquisite place to relax and enjoy the wonders of Meursault

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Susie & Andy's incredible Meursault home. It is truly one of the best stocked vacation rentals we've ever stayed in. Their care and attention to detail shows up in everything - the quality of the bedding and linens, the decor, the amenities. The hospitality is incredible as well. Meursault is perfectly situated for visiting all parts of Bourgogne, plus you can simply walk to visit a number of vineyards. We cannot wait to return again and again!

Beautiful house in wonderful location in wine country

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a short week this spring and had a great stay.

The house is an old building converted into very modern facility. Everything you could want is provided to make your stay very comfortable.

Location could not be better. In the middle of Burgundy wine country and short walk to center of Meursault where you can find restaurants and shops.

Susan was fantastic and very responsive and open to help us in any way possible.

We will return again for sure. Our experience could not have been better.
