Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday home in Ria-Sirach - 'La Petite Maison'

2 bedrooms, sleeps 6, kitchen, lounge, with sunny garden & terraces

Detached house, set in an ancient hilltop village, offering comfortable accommodation over 3 floors and stunning views in all directions.

Very well equipped with added benefit of outdoor living space (garden, decking and elevated terrace) - for alfresco dining, sunbathing and relaxation. Large gas BBQ available for guests.

Spacious kitchen/dining area, with oven, fridge/freezer, microwave and dining table/chairs. Large wood burning stove. Comfortable lounge with sofa bed and chairs which can be used as additional sleeping area & Sat TV.

Upstairs consists of a double bathroom, a twin broom and bathroom - toilet, bidet, sink, bath and over bath shower.

All rooms with fantastic views onto Mount Canigou (snow capped Oct/May)

Large basement for storage/additional sleeping and a further bathroom, including a fitted shower (currently - no direct access to the basement/2nd bathroom from the house).

All rooms are comfortably furnished and centrally heated by electric radiators.

La Petite Maison offers the best of all worlds - for those wanting a simple relaxing holiday in the sun or for the more adventurous looking for action packed activities.

While in an area of outstanding beauty, the house is not at all remote, benefiting from good air and road links. During the spring months of March and April it is quite possible to ski in the morning and be on the beach in the afternoon sunbathing.

Ria is a village with significant historical importance, reportedly being the birthplace of 'Guifried the Hairy', the founder of the Catalan dynasty. The ruins of the 'Castle of Ria' can be found at the top of the village.

Prades, situated a short drive away, is a beautiful market town, with a colourful market held every Tuesday. It is also the home of the Pablo Casels international music festival which is held in July/August each year and attracts musicians from around the world.

Barcelona is easily reachable for a day trip , as is the medieval city of Carcassonne.

The property can easily reached by car from Perpignan airport (approx 30 minutes), Carcassone Airport (approx 80 mins) and Gerona, Spain Airport (approx 90 mins). These airports are all serviced by low cost budget airlines such as Ryanair, Flybe and Easyjet, operating from the UK.

It is possible therefore to enjoy a value for money holiday or short break in the South of France at a very reasonable cost.

We remain flexible, wherever possible, to accommodate your holiday requirements to enable guests to take advantage of cheap off peak flight times/days.

Long weekend breaks also accommodated, wherever possible.

Bed linen is provided free of charge.

Hire of bath/hand towels provided on request, subject to a small weekly charge.

The property is managed locally & 'meet & greet' arrangements are in place for your arrival.

Shopping provisions can be organised in advance, via our managing people.

In the event of durations less than one week, a charge of £40 will be levied to cover the cost of the changeover/cleaning.

A damage deposit of 100 Euros is payable locally, which will be refunded in full, subject to no damage/breakages.

A perfect holiday home in a great location. We stayed a fortnight; the patio areas were ideal for relaxed eating outside with great views. We used the gas barbeque with great success for a few meals. Our (grown-up) daughter and her partner joined us for weekends and the house was a perfect base. From here the historic and very picturesque villages, mountains and coast are all within easy reach. Locals are exceptionally friendly in this area.

lovely house in peaceful location

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely holiday is this peaceful house with its stunning views over mount canigou and the surrounding area, The house is well equipped and even on the hottest day it was lovely and cool inside. Its ideally placed, not far from the beaches and the mountains and has some lovely villages locally to explore. We were a little daunted when we arrived to find we couldn't drive up to the house itself to unpack, but soon found the sack truck in the downstairs store room, so loaded it up and took all our luggage in one go, the walk to and from the house is not far and gave us a chance to talk to some of the locals, in fact it was quite nice not to have to worry about traffic and road noise, which living in London is always a problem. Sitting on the terrace in the evening with a glass of wine looking out over the mountains was a delight.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback and we are pleased that you had an enjoyable stay and liked the house. We understand that there was a misunderstanding regarding the location of the additional set of keys for the downstairs basement and will take steps to make this clearer on the information sheet provided to guests. While the kitchen is fully equipped for 6 persons, it is possible that breakages may have occurred of which we were not aware. However, we will now review the position and ensure that all necessary replacements are made.

vacances a Ria

  • 5 of 5

A recommander !

Schöner Ort zum Entspannen

  • 5 of 5

Car: recommended

The house is situated in French Catalonia, in an area of outstanding beauty, and just 30 mins. drive from the Mediterranean beach resorts of Canet, Argeles and St Cyprian, with the beautiful old fishing port of Collioure 45 mins. drive away.

The vibrant market town of Prades with its cafes and restaurants, and the historic fortified town of Villefranche de Conflent (officially one of the most beautiful in France) are both only 5 mins. drive by car.

Villefranche is the starting point of the Petite Train Jeune, a unique narrow guage mountain railway that takes you on a breathtaking journey through the Pyrenees.

Multitude of local attractions and things to do including churches, abbeys, castles, walking, climbing, cycling, fishing, lake swimming and canyoning, to name but a few.

Between the months of Dec and Mar the ski resorts of Les Angles and Font Romeu are easily accessible.

Perpignan, is also within easy driving distance, with Barcelona only two hours drive away.

Ski: The property is within 45 minutes drive of several good ski resorts, including Font Romeu, Les Angles, Pyrenees 2000, Puigmal, Eyne and St Pierre del Forcats. Outside of peak school holiday periods, these resorts offer excellent and reasonably priced skiing on well groomed and very often uncrowded pistes.

On the way back from skiing why not stop off at the open air thermal baths at St Thomas le Bains to relax and unwind from the rigours of the day.
