Rock House - contemporary house situated within a short walk of the beach
average rating of 5.0 based on 20 reviews

Fantastic house, very spacious, great garden for the kids and in an ideal location

  • 5 of 5

Perfect base to explore the beautiful north Cornish coast, only 5 minutes walk to Crooklets beach which was brilliant for the kids and amazing at sunset, loved Rosie’s restaurant/bar. Overall an amazing stay, we wouldn’t normally return to the same house but this maybe an exception.

A True Rock

  • 5 of 5

We have visited Bude on many occasions and love the area. Rock House is brilliantly situated just a short walk away from Crooklets beach, Summerleaze beach, the sea pool, town, canal and coastal path meaning we only needed to get in the car if we wished to venture a little further afield to visit Trelawny in Widemouth Bay for a lovely fresh cooked breakfast.

The house itself was incredibly well maintained with great sized rooms for all the family. The separate lounge area is handy if you have older children who need a bit of a break from the adults as there is a television and games console in there. On some of the cooler nights which we experienced due to the time of year we visited the wood burner was most welcome. There was everything we needed and more to ensure we were able to cater for ourselves when not sampling the food on offer at The Brendon Arms, Rosie's cafe (which is great if you have a dog as they can go in too, as long as they are well behaved) and The Olive Tree all within easy walking distance of the house. The garden was well looked after and secure with some play equipment for smaller guests.

The service offered to us by Elite West Holidays was second to none and I would have no hesitation in recommending them and Rock House if you want a great holiday experience in this beautiful part of our country.

We would definitely visit again.

A wonderful holiday in Bude

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week at Easter. Two families and two dogs. The house is wonderful very warm cosy and very clean. The kitchen is well equipped and the house itself has everything you need for a brilliant stay in Bude. I would highly recommend this property and hope to return soon for another relaxing enjoyable stay at Rock House.

Superb Holiday Accommodation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week in August and certainly plan to return.

Rock House is modern, generously furnished and well appointed. Everything was clean and in a good state of repair. Ample off street parking available for two vehicles on a quiet road within walking distance of the beach.

The house has a lot of space. It has three WC and two bathrooms which means members of a larger party (we were 6) do not rub up against each other. The main lounge is open to the huge kitchen but can be closed with doors.

There is a separate lounge with a TV and playstation which kept our eldest child entertained between beach visits. Additional separate areas allow items to be stored and washed/dried without intruding on the holiday experience. The kitchen has plenty of everything. We never ran short of utensils, glasses etc.

The garden is large and securely enclosed, with play equipment. There is an outside tap here and a decked area with a table/benches for outside meals.

Bude is a great place to visit and we return most years for the beaches, the surf and the eating out, all easily accomplished without driving anywhere.

We love Rock House !

Ideal for families

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in this house three times, twice in the summer and once in the winter. It is a modern house within easy walking distance to both main beaches and the town centre. The house has always been very clean on arrival, well maintained and equipped. Downstairs is tiled throughout, ideal for those with children or dogs. It has underfloor heating and a log burner so was warm and cosy when we visited in the winter. Upstairs is heated by radiators and the bedrooms are furnished to a high standard with white bed linen and towels. We booked through Elite West, the best letting agent we have ever used, providing a friendly and efficient service. Bude is an ideal place to visit for those who enjoy walking, surfing and the traditional bucket and spade holiday. There are a variety of places to eat and we enjoy going to The Brendon Arms, Falcon Hotel and our personal favourite, Life's a Beach.

Family holiday for Easter week

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at Rock House for a week with my family of four and my brother's family of three. We had a great week, really chilled out. The house is lovely, all good size rooms and all amenities, like a home from home. The beach at Crooklets is an easy 5 minute walk, with the kids, and Summerlease, where we spent most of our time, another 5 minutes on from there. I was surprised how close everything was - the town is only a few minutes away with shops, restaurants and bars and a good size sainsbury's. Great surf shops and of course pasty shops! We have usually stayed in the Newquay area but Bude is much less commercialised and we liked it for that. Everything was so easy to get to. We had planned to walk to the beach but as it was sunny but cold we wanted stuff down on the beach and so took our cars the 1 minute drive and parked up with plenty of availability and then walked onto the beach. There is a lovely restaurant at Summerlease, and a surf shop plus cafe, everything we needed. I was a bit disappointed when i first saw the beaches as it was high tide and there is little sand to see but at low tide -wow! Summerlease also has a sea water pool and although we couldn't use it for that purpose as it was closed it was great fun standing around it at high tide and letting the waves crash over us. Put your wetsuits on, and preferably gloves, boots and hoods, and feel close to nature! The kids loved that! Also went horse riding on the beach at sunset which was beautiful. The house itself was very clean and linens crisp, couldn't fault it. The garden is a perfect size, with a play set and table and chairs plus a small grasses area, all well-maintained. Having the garage to keep stuff was a real bonus Nick was a pleasure to deal with and we would certainly use Elite again and recommend them to friends and family.

Bude offers good shopping, a good array of restaurants and pubs. Splash swimming pool has a flume and health suite, and there is a leisure complex for bowling and indoor play. Boats can be hired on Bude canal and there is windsurfing, sailing, kayaking (either just hire or book lessons) at Lower Tamar Lake. We have an arrangement with the local Links course, Bude and North Cornwall, for our guests and there are good courses at nearby Holsworthy, St Enedoc and the Jack Nicklaus designed St Mellion. Widemouth Bay is considered one of the best surfing beaches in the area and we can arrange lessons for beginners and improver's. Bude has two superb beaches, Summerleaze and Crooklets, both ideal for bathing and surfing and Bude has one of the few remaining sea pools in the country which is perfect for youngsters when the waves are a little fierce. Lifeguards patrol most beaches and the pool throughout the summer months. There are outdoor pursuit centres, tennis, squash, horse riding and more
