Great value, great neighbourhood, comfy bed
Stayed here before and after my wedding - only left for a few days to The Palms. Looking back, I wouldn't have wasted any money at The Palms and would have stayed here the entire time. Side note: The Palms sucks.
Love this location; it is safe and very quiet. The house is spacious and clean, with modern appliances and AC in the bedroom. The screened-in porch is also a nice touch.
The only slightly negative part is that the bathroom needs some updating (i.e. shower curtain for a door, rusted-out mirrors and light fixtures, old countertops), but otherwise, I highly recommend this place!
Oh, and just a minor suggestion, bring earplugs as the neighbours' dogs (not too close by) can get a bit loud at night but it's really nothing bad.
We would like to firstly thank you for re-booking the property and hope that you have had a lovely time. Also, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we appreciate your feedback and happy to know that you loved the screened-in porch.
In regard to the dogs, we want to let you know that they are stray dogs that wonder around and bark at night but to reduce potential disturbance, we have ordered double glazed windows for (Hummingbird Guesthouse) to avoid future noises. When they are installed the guests will have a much more pleasant stay.
We hope you had a great time on the island and hope that you will visit again. The next time you do decide to come to the Turks and Caicos, keep us in mind.
Close to the beach
It was a really nice house to stay. It is hidden almost at the end of Leeward highway. It is just 5 mins walk to the beach to watch the sunset. Quiet area, away from the resort. The only thing that makes me did not give it 5 stars because the kitchen light was out and they only replaced 1 light bulb instead of 3. The kitchen was kinda dark. We had to cook early when the day light was still out. They have the deck at the back for BBQ and the screen on the backyard which is helpful to keep the bugs away. The furniture has worn out signs. It looks great in the pictures compared to the outside. However, we did not stay at home the whole time, so it was not that big deal. I would stay at their place again if I come back to TCI
We hope that you have had a great time in the Turks and Caicos and enjoy the beach to the fullest. Also, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We love receiving feedbacks from our guests to improve the property.
As for the light, we have fixed the issue.
The property is truly a hidden pleasure. Next time you are thinking of the Turks and Caicos, please keep us in mind.
The place is very nice and location is fantastic! James is a very good host. He was easy to access and very kind. Towels and bed linen were very good!! Porsche furniture is not as comfortable as we would expect to. However, I would strongly recommend to stay at Jame’s!!
Very nice place for a good price
Very nice place to stay. It’s away from the main area of resorts in a more residential area. Everything was well maintained and looks like the pictures except for the porch chairs, as others pointed out. The outdoor porch has a screen around it which made eating outside pleasant. The beach is less than a 5 minute walk away.
This was a great getaway for two. The place was in a great neighborhood with close proximity to the beach, clean, and spacious. Would highly recommend!
Great stay at the Hummingbird Lane bungalow!
This property is great mainly because of the affordability and quick responses from the owner but I've listed some disclaimers below. We had a wonderful week-long stay at the bungalow! The house is pretty true to the pictures except the patio furniture has been changed and was not near as nice as pictured. Instead it was a cheap table with bar height chairs that were too awkwardly tall for the table. We still were able to sit outside and eat meals or drink a glass of wine on the screened in porch but it would've been nice to have a table with chairs that were the appropriate height. The property is a little older and could use some TLC so it's not for the resort type traveler. However, this property is perfect for the price and a very affordable option with a quick walk to the beach! The AC in the bedroom was a major bonus and worked wonderfully! We felt very safe at the house and the security system added extra peace of mind. The property is located in the Leeward Estates area with a security guard at the entrance. We had some issues upon arrival with the propane gas being out and no trash bags being available but James was quick to respond and they had it replaced the next day. We didn't have issues with the ants as described in some of the other reviews but we were sure to never leave ANY food out and put most things in the refrigerator. The kitchen is stocked enough to cook in but didn't have any condiments, foil, etc. or tools for grilling so we had to get a bit creative. The appliances are also a little dated. We never could get the blender to work but we were able to use the small food processor. The best part of this house is the proximity to the beach and the provided chairs, umbrella, and cooler. You can easily walk to the beach or you can drive down there (if you're feeling lazy and have all your beach equipment) and park along the road. The beach was very quiet and we rarely saw more than 10 people on the beach. Renting a car is a must! We explored almost every inch of the island and have to say that this part of Grace Bay Beach is much nicer than the resort beaches. The resorts are crowded and very commercial so it was nice to have a quiet spot to unwind with an almost private beach. You can easily access the Blue Haven resort and they have a small grocery/convenience store if you need to pick something up but don't want to drive back to IGA or Graceway Gourmet. We would definitely recommend this house and would stay here again!
Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us a review.
We hope you have had a wonderful stay at the bungalow! Since your stay, we have done some work in both the bathroom and in the kitchen, we knew it was needed so we acted on that immediately after your review.
Now, we are currently in the process of changing the out door furniture and getting a new rug for the living area.
As for the ants, they are seasonal but we do spray around.
Thank for all of your feedback and whenever you do decide to come back to the Turks and Caicos Islands, we would love to have you again.
