Part of 2.25 acre hilltop home with beautiful gardens, lawns, woods, and small orchard. Bright, open and airy with bed/sleeping, sitting, dining areas, closet, separate fully equipped kitchen, and large private bath. Additional storage space on first floor and/or main house. Washer/dryer available. TV/Netflix, internet wifi, linens, all utilities, and use of grounds, hammock, rope swing included. Labrador retriever always ready for walks or game of ball. 10 minutes from major state Routes 495, 3, and 2; approx. 30 minutes to Worcester, Lowell, southern NH, and metrowest Boston businesses; 10 minutes to Boston train. Travel time to Boston/Cambridge via car approx. one hour. World-class symphony orchestra, restaurants, museums nearby; hiking, swimming, skiing, canoeing, cycling trails from house and neighborhood. About Mary Livingston

Having spent most of my growing-up years in the Atlanta, GA area, I moved to New England in the late 1970's and have loved it ever since. I earned my graduate degree in secondary/post-secondary education at Boston University, did some teaching in area high schools and community colleges; then transitioned my career into organizational development working in a wide variety of industries. Currently I work part-time for a nonprofit social services agency and also enjoy making/selling food, furniture, and sewing creations. I love all outdoor activities during all seasons, especially if it includes the company of Happy, my labrador retriever.

Why Mary Livingston chose Groton

This area of MA offers a great deal of open space and yet is close to the major cities of Boston and Worcester as well as Nashua, Manchester and Concord in NH. Cape Cod, Maine, Vermont and western Massachusetts are also equally accessible. Groton is a quintessential, friendly, sophisticated, thriving and beautiful small New England town that is home to two reputable private schools, The Groton School and Lawrence Academy. Situated on 2.5 acres at the top of one of the highest hills in the area, my property has complete privacy and is also part of a close-knit, friendly neighborhood. Hundreds of acres of conservation land abut the property, providing plenty of walking trails, a great swimming pond, a beautiful river, bike trails, stables/horse-back riding, cross-country skiing, and lots of wildlife, including black bears, coyotes, foxes, fishers, otters, turkeys, racoons, porcupines, possums, and, of course, skunks. Birding habitat is equally varied--the hummingbirds are my favorite. Relaxing on the private, second-floor deck overlooking the surrounding hillsides and woods; or in the hammock and adirondack chairs at the edge of the woods enjoying the peace and quiet and a cool breeze is also quite satisfying. The gardens and small orchard on the property captured my imagination and I have enjoyed bringing the neglected ones back to life as well as creating new ones.

Enjoy stunning views, both the sunrise and sunset, as much solitude or friendly neighborly interaction as desired, fresh breezes, stars, birdsong, crickets, spring peepers, frogs, and the occasional rainbow (or double rainbow) in summer.

Charming, cozy, and spacious apartment, cool in summer, warm in winter, overall delightful spot

I loved every minute of my stay here - Mary is warm, kind and always helpful - I had everything I needed. The location is secluded and yet convenient to everywhere I had to go, whether toward Boston or elsewhere. The apartment itself is inviting, cheerful, and beautifully laid out, with a large closet and a large and very comfortable bed. It has been a wonderful experience and I recommend it highly.

Beautiful yard and surroundings

Beautiful outdoor yard and surroundings - at top of hill with views all around. Lots of great hiking trails right out the door. Living space is clean and efficient. Good closet and storage. Owner is very nice. Very quiet and peaceful place to stay. The bed is super comfortable - Tempurepedic mattress I think. Our dog loved it here too. I highly recommend.
