We previously had a holiday home in the Dordogne, near Perigueux, then we decided to come and live in France but wanted a larger property. We found this property and we first visited the property on a cold winters day and we liked it a lot, even though there was quite a bit to do, particularly on the exterior, so now after living here for 10 years almost, we are pleased with the improvements and we really enjoy living here. We are both from Bradford, West Yorkshire but we spent 22 years living in other countries and places in UK, due to Adrian serving in HM Forces. Adrian had a job arranged with a French company from when we first arrived in France and is still working for the same company. So, we live and work here and intend to remain here.
Patricia Hanlon purchased this cottage in 2005
Firstly, we love the location, we are in the countryside, it's very peaceful and quiet, yet very close to Marthon and Montbron for shopping and lots of other facilities.
Close enough to Angouleme and good road and rail connections to the rest of France/Europe.
The cottage is separate from our accommodation and we have our own pool and gardens, parking, etc and although we are on site (next door) we are available if required.
The great thing for us about living here in this property is that we still feel as if we are on holiday, even though we live and work here and we work hard to keep the whole property in good order, inside and outside, it's still a holiday to us. Lots of sunshine (usually) and pretty much zero air pollution.
Just got back from Andy's villa and what a fantastic holiday it was. Myself and my husband went there a few years ago and wanted our first holiday away with our daughter to be in the Villa as we had so many lovely memories. As soon as we arrived following Andy's brilliant directions we felt like we had "come home". The feeling of the villa is homely, spacious and clean. Everything we needed was there, from hairspray (if you've forgotten yours!) to sun tan lotion if you run out with the lovely weather. The BBQ beside the pool was fantastic and then being able to go up onto the roof terrace at the end of the day with a bottle of wine whilst our daughter was in bed was beautiful. Our daughter (3 years of age) was over the moon with the pool and we couldn't get her out of it :). We hired a car to get around (you really need to hire a car) but again the directions from Andy to remind us which part of the beach to go to was brilliant, we had the sea, sand, play area for our daughter and all the restaurants to eat or get a drink, what more could we ask for. Andy told us of a few places to go eat if we didn’t want to stay on the complex. The best one we found being the Chinese restaurant (about 10 minutes away in car) all you can eat, and at the end of the meal our daughter got a lolly pop and me and her dad got a bottle of wine which was very nice indeed. Our daughter loved it, sat there eating mussels and octopus as if it was the best thing in the world. The eateries on the complex are very good, Ruby's was a good place to end the day for a quick drink before heading off home to get changed for the evening. Andy informed us of all the extra activities to go to which had not been there when we last went, he was so helpful, he could not do enough for us. If you go to the villa you have to visit Elche safari, you can swim with the sea lions and watch the elephant show etc, its definitely worth a visit. In the villa is a huge range of leaflets explaining of places to go to. As our first family abroad holiday we couldn't have asked for anything better and Andy made the holiday stress free with his handy helpful tips. My husband finds it very hard to switch off from work and this holiday lying near the pool having a BBQ or just watching the sun set on the roof terrace definitely made him forget about everything else but having fun. We will defiantly be going again as a family and can't wait for our next visit. Thank you so much Andy from the Eddy family!

There is plenty to see and do nearby, with a horse riding centre close by, canoe/kayaking just 3km away on the River Tardoire and cycling through woods and the quiet countryside. One of the best outdoor karting tracks in South West France is just 15km. There is also an adventure course set in the tree tops in a tranquil wooded setting near Verneuil. Enjoy 10-pin bowling at Bassiere Badil - visited by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie! Several lakes within 25km have facilities including bars, restaurants, lifeguards, diving platforms and beaches. Touring around beautiful châteaux such as La Rochefoucauld, Varaignes and Mareuil or exploring the cathedral city of Angoulême will ensure interesting outings! Slightly further afield, the beautiful town of Brantôme is well worth the drive; its ancient abbey provides a focal point for the town, and there are boat trips along the river and restaurants serving mouth-watering regional specialities.
Other Activities: Canoeing/Kayaking; Go Karting; 10 pin bowling; and tree-top adventure park.
Golf: La Preze International golf club is situated in stunning countryside and boasts a superb 18 hole course, additionally, it has an 18 hole 'pitch and putt' course. The golf club is about 12 kilometres away, 15 - 20 minutes by car. There is an excellent restaurant at the golf club which is open every day and some evenings. The restaurant is open to the public (not just for members and players)
