Recently renovated and decorated, Mango Grove is a stunning, traditional Caribbean style two-level dwelling at the edge of the rain forest, with sweeping views of the Ocean, just steps above a quiet beach. The only building on a very large private property, the upper level wraparound deck overlooks its grove of mango trees. The lower two bedroom level features an indoor/outdoor pool with waterfall, a large elegant pool deck and an outdoor great room.
Enter the house from a private road through a well landscaped area to a large open living room furnished with wicker and Caribbean antiques, a powder room, a modern kitchen area, an indoor dining area that seats 8-10, with two king bedrooms, one with antique four poster and jacuzzi, both with bath en-suite on either side. There is also a television/VCR, and a wireless network. The wraparound deck is child safe with furnished lounging and seating areas. The upper level is handicapped accessible.
The lower level is made up of the indoor outdoor pool deck with lounge chairs, an indoor/outdoor shamrock shaped pool with sitting ledges and waterfall overlooking the ocean. Beside the pool is the indoor/outdoor great room, a small utility kitchen and dining area, a three piece bathroom with glass block shower as well as an outdoor shower near the pool. The lower level also has a large ocean view queen bedroom furnished in white wicker and antiques, with en-suite dressing area , slide-away doors to the outside patio, with huge windows overlooking the rain forest. There is a second lower level bedroom with tandem single beds, all with views of the pool and ocean.
My wife, sister, close friend and myself stayed at this beautiful and secluded villa for almost 3 weeks. We loved the accommodations and the surrounding forest. This is a great place to rest and relax to get away from the stress of modern life. We were never without things to do and see if we chose. This is a very unspoiled island and the people are friendly and helpful. Our hosts Sheldon and Judi were very helpful with our questions and their suggestions were spot on. We are looking forward to returning to this paradise.
Our stay at Mango Grove was a unique and memorable experience. The setting and gardens are fantastic. We were fortunate to have stayed during a full moon. The view from our bedroom of the moon shining on the ocean was breathtaking. My wife was thrilled with the pool that was half under roof and provided shelter from heat or inclement weather. She also loved the grand piano. The owners were very helpful in providing details about the property as well as leaving us with lots of information about the island.
This is a unique Caribbean property on a stunningly beautiful, green, laid back, island paradise made of 14 ancient volcanoes and one that is currently occasionally active. It is the only island in the Eastern Caribbean that relies on natural springs for its drinking water and irrigation The House is in Woodlands, which is becoming the most desirable residential area in Montserrat because it is far enough away from the volcano not to be affected by volcanic activity, yet close enough to witness the power of nature in its unadorned state.
As one of the few remaining British colonies in the world, Montserrat is politically stable, an idyllic paradise with a friendly helpful network of 4500 residents, no stoplights, few two storey buildings, but with good food stores, restaurants, a hospital, hiking trails and live entertainment. Montserrat has a world renowned volcano observatory. House has free telephone calls to North America, Great Britain and a number of other countries.
