Overview

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Poole

Spacious, Comfortable And Beautifully Furnished Home For 6, Dogs Welcome

Our holiday home has panoramic views across Poole Harbour towards Brownsea Island and the Purbeck Hills from all the principal rooms. The house is set on the harbour side with a short walk along the shore to Poole Quay, or inland to Poole town. There are numerous cycleways to explore the coast, and the beautiful sandy beaches at Sandbanks are only a 5 minute car ride away.

The ground floor has an open plan lounge/dining area with a door leading to a large conservatory. There is a patio garden at the rear. The kitchen is fitted with an electric double oven and gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, washer/drier and fridge freezer.

There is a double bedroom downstairs with views across the harbour from the bed! This has an en-suite shower and WC.

On the first floor there is a further sitting room with panoramic views. A door leads out onto the balcony where you can sit with your morning coffee or evening “gin & tonic” to enjoy the harbour scene! We have Sky TV channels and there is a DVD and a CD player. Wifi Broadband is also available.

The upstairs double bedroom also has superb views.

There is also a twin-bedded room.

We are very happy to consider short breaks in the low to mid season but please check with us on price as we charge slightly more than pro rata for this. (Unfortunately, the website only calculates pro rata)

About Mark & Penny Hockey

Knowing the area, we just loved the house and its views and despite living close, we thought this was a property to enjoy. We then decided to share it with others wanting to enjoy the location, and quickly found that we could not accommodate all our regular visitors who kept wanting to return. Hence we branched out again and have two other properties in Poole 82810 and 451628 on the homeaway website.

Mark & Penny Hockey purchased this house in 2003

Why Mark & Penny Hockey chose Purbeck

Location, location, location - views!!

What makes this house unique

Location, views, lots of activities close by without needing to get in the car, but also lots to visit in every direction with a car.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for letting us stay in your wonderful holiday home. We have all had a lovely time here and we hope you will have us again. The views are fantastic. We made great use of the balcony and what a treat the fireworks were.

Another wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have stayed at this property a few times over the last 2 years and it now feels like our 2nd home. We cannot fault it so will return to it for years to come (just hope Penny and Mark havent any plans to sell it ! Lol) My in laws came with us this time and they loved it. The house is well equipped with 2 good size bedrooms both with very comfortable king size beds. The 3rd bedroom has 2 single beds in it which I use as a dressing room lol. The weather was kind to us this week so my mother in law and I enjoyed sitting in the back garden or on the balcony drinking a cuppa while watching the boats go by. My hubby and father in law made good use of SKY TV! The house is in a great location with superb views and you can get to many places within 30 minutes drive such as Sandbanks, Studland, Bournemouth, Christchurch, Swanage and Wareham. After having some lovely daily walks with our dog, its great to leave the car on the drive and take a leisurely walk into Poole in the evening to have a bite to eat. There are many dog friendly pubs that serve food but our favourite is The Crown Hotel where they have an excellent menu and the food is just fab. The staff are very friendly and always make a fuss of Molly, our cocker spaniel, and give her a treat. We were all very sad to leave but will be back again. Thanks again for a wonderful time. Perfect location for wedding in Poole

  • 5 of 5

The property was ideally located for access to Poole centre and the wedding we attended at the Guildhall, with captivating views across Poole Harbour. It was a pleasure people-watching, bird watching and ship watching from the splendid first floor lounge and balcony (binoculars provided). Just a five minute walk from Poole Quay, yet it felt like we were out in the country. Beds were very comfortable, neighbours pleasant and the owners extremely accommodating. In short, everything you need to relax and enjoy a break.

Just a great holiday home

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at this property in one year and just cannot fault it. The house is in an enviable position and looking out from either the upper lounge window or from the balcony is just wonderful. I love watching the boats sail by and also watching people walking their dogs along the promenade. Our 6 month old puppy Molly settled in straight away. She enjoyed her walks on the promenade and also on the nearby Baiter Park. The house has everything you need - good size bedrooms - very comfortable king size beds in of the bedrooms, 2 lounges (the TV in the upper lounge has SKY) the best kitchen I have come across at a holiday home, dining room and a brilliant conservatory on the back. The garden is fully enclosed which is ideal for dog owners. There are plenty of dog friendly pubs within walking distance of the house or within 15 minutes drive. The standard of food and service at the Crown Hotel in the town centre is just amazing. The property is also ideally located to nearby beaches: Sandbanks, Studland, Branksome.... Molly loved them all! The New Forest is only about 30 minutes drive away. We have looked at other houses but to be honest, we don't want to stay anywhere else in Dorset as it has everything we need. Penny and Mark are lovely people to deal with. They make you feel very welcome with and ensure you have a comfortable stay. We are back again in July! Need I say more?

Very enjoyable stay

  • 5 of 5

The house has most wonderful views over the harbour and Purbeck hills . It is nicely arranged and we loved the new well equipped kitchen and pretty patio area. We particularly appreciated the variety of areas for eating or just relaxing . The balcony , the conservatory, the dining room and patio are all equipped with tables and chairs. As our week was very windy we found the conservatory perfect for catching the sunshine at meal times.

We were delighted to be able to bring our little daschund and to discover the harbour side foot/ cycle path outside which provides quick easy access to the quay or a stroll along the waters edge.

Penny responded quickly to all our contacts with her and was very helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much and hope to be able to return again next year.

Fantastic Holiday Home - Stunning Views

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is very spacious and homely and very well equipped, particularly in the kitchen, with all you could need for self catering. We loved the balcony where we could sit with a glass of wine, unwind and watch the ever changing view. It is within easy walking distance of the quay and all its facilities. The house was very clean and comfortable and we were really pleased it was dog friendly. As a family with two teenage girls it was nice that we could have space downstairs whilst they had the upstairs bedroom. Lovely house, great location, very helpful and friendly owner. Also great conservatory and garden. Thanks Penny.

Our holiday home is located close to Poole Quay in a quiet harbour side park and has panoramic views across Poole Harbour towards Brownsea Island and the Purbeck Hills from all the principal rooms. Poole park is a short walk away and Sandbanks with its award winning beach is only a 15 minute drive. There is a chain ferry which leaves every 20 minutes from Sandbanks to cross to Purbeck with its fabulous scenery and heritage coastline. Poole quay and the Old High Street with all its shops and restaurants is a 10 to 15 minute walk. Inland, the New Forest is also a very accessible day trip. To the north, the market town of Ringwood and city of Salisbury are an easy drive away. To the west, there are many picturesque Dorset villages to visit. In every direction there are places to visit and lots of activities to keep the whole family happy.
