The bright and airy flat is located in an area of listed buildings, under monumental protection, yet is packed with both original and modern features - superb, fully - integrated kitchen, wooden floors and exposed original brickwork.

However it is the spectacular roof terrace that will truly take your breath away. Imagine alfresco breakfasts under the sunshine, dinner beneath the moonlight, or simply relaxing after a hard day's sightseeing with wonderful views of Alfama and the river beyond.

The apartment is located in Alfama, one of Lisbon's most historic, traditional and atmospheric areas. A 'village within a city', Alfama lives and breathes charming and timeless Lisbon, having survived the 1755 earthquake fully intact. It's maze of medieval alleys, winding narrow streets, churches, tiny squares and majestic viewpoints captivate and astound in equal measure.

Yet, Alfama has all this and more. The apartment is within walking distance of riverfront walks, the castle and cathedral, train and metro stations and the enchanting tram 28. Can it get any better? Well, yes actually! Lisbon's most famous nightclub is 5 minutes walk away, as are some of the best viewpoints, Fado clubs/restaurants, ferry terminal and the downtown area is a mere 10 minute walk away. Alfama - the perfect place to stay.

Very charming apartment!

We had a wonderful time during Xmas and New Year in this perfectly equipped apartment. Its located in the middle of Alfama and within walking distance to many of the most famous tourist attractions in Lisbon. Our day started at the bakery next door and for lunch there are many cosy restaurants nearby. We ended the day with a glas of wine on the terrace overlooking the river frontline. I really hope we will be back soon!

Great Alfama experience

Pros : Great Alfama location , amazing views

from terrasse , picturesque steep cobbled street , near all amenities: station , metro , bus , very central , you can walk to lots of places to visit , Fado museum at bottom of street , cafés , restaurants...and the little bakery on the ground floor !

Cons : the flat is on the 3rd floor of a narrow flight of stairs , inside the flat you have to negotiate steep open steps to get to the mezzanine bedroom space under the roof , the ceiling is very low and there is No safety rail which makes it dangerous especially when one gets up during the night . Furniture a bit tired especially the sofa, nowhere to put toiletries in the bathroom which needs renovating . The mattress and pillows are worn and stained. The flat needs a bit of tlc.

We had a pleasant stay but one must know that the flat isn't to everyone 's taste.

A lovely spacious, characterful apartment in a great area. We were near great restaurants, bars and public transport. It was very atmospheric and we could hear the Fado singers just by opening the windows - we felt at the centre of all the good stuff.

Pedro and Marta were very good landlords - any problems or questions we had they sorted out immediately, always answering texts or emails promptly. Can really recommend this part of Lisbon for a holiday. You can get buses to the train station to get a train along the coast to Cascais, you can eat locally, visit the Fado Museum or get buses to the Time Out market and the Tile Museum and go on the famous 28 tram!

Wonderful location, charming apartment!

We loved our stay in Alfama! The apartment is located in a great area of the neighborhood on the third floor of a small, old building. You really can't beat the experience of staying somewhere like this!

As mentioned in other reviews it really is a climb up the stairs, however only 3 flights - but they are steep. If you have difficulty climbing stairs - you probably would not want to stay in this area of town.

Alfama was by far the most beautiful area of Lisbon and we definitely recommend staying here.

The balcony is great and such a nice way to wake up in the morning. This place has charm and its an authentic way to stay in Portugal. You are amongst locals and really get to experience a great part of the city.

We did find it a little hot some days in the unit, but there was a fan we were able to use which helped cool it down. It was also nice that almost all the windows had screens, so we kept the m open all day.

All in all - great stay, thank you!

No security as patio door would not lock. No privacy as no curtains. Shower very dirty. No smoke ala

Really very unsafe. Bed on a mezzanine with no stair or any rails. You did not want to look at the mattress. TV impossible to work. Electric fittings hanging from walls. No smoke alarms or any form of required safety measures. Floors dirty might have been nice once but that was a long time ago. There were no curtains although we asked.kitchen good but here mould which could have been washed from walls was not. Bedding all a bit inadequate, no real pillows, mattress an ikea rubber slab quite stained. Sofa stained. Really well below standard we have come to know.
