About Carol Heth
I have lived in this area all of my life and have grown to appreciate the little piece of paradise that we call home.
Carol Heth purchased this Cottage in 1983
Why Carol Heth chose Columbia
Growing up down the road and having my Grandparents next door has been a great life experience. The area had always been very family oriented with my Aunts, Uncles, and cousins next door. There are still families that have been here for their lifetime.

Great hosts - wonderful location
Spent 5 days traveling around Lancaster County, every evening we were able to relax in the Birdhouse and be ready for another day. The scones were so good and the eggs fresh from the farm a welcome touch. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect vacation.
The Birdhouse is such a wonderful relaxing environment!
The cottage was the perfect spot for our honeymoon! The design of the building and the decor compliment each other so well. The courtyard was our absolute favorite! Could have spent our entire time there. The homemade scones and fresh eggs were an added treat! An amazing place! We will definitely recommend this cottage to everyone we know! Thank you so much Carol and Pete!
The Bird House is a perfectly lovely place to stay and enjoy in Lancaster County. We feel fortunate.
We loved our stay at the Bird House. The location is lovely, and the house is beautifully appointed. Our hosts were very welcoming. It is a great place to relax, and close enough to route 30 to make it easy to go in different directions. We enjoyed having our coffee outside listening to the birds. We actually saw several Bluebirds. What a surprise. We hope to return in the future and will definitely stay here again and again if possible.
The cottage had everything we needed and more. Perfect for two people to enjoy.
Gracious hospitality is not exclusive to the South!
The Birdhouse is exactly as pictured. Everything is perfect. The bed is comfortable, it is super clean, and the hosts are lovely people. Homemade blueberry scones! Who could ask for more?
They are not only pet friendly they are pet welcoming.
We would stay here again and again. Actually we are thinking of never leaving!
The perfect getaway
Carol and Pete are great, friendly hosts who think of everything. From fresh scones, flowers and eggs to bowls for my dog, there were thoughtful touches throughout. The birdhouse was beautiful, comfortable and perfectly appointed.
This is the best HomeAway experience I've had. It was restful and rejuvenating but also provided opportunities to explore new areas and experiences. Already planning my next trip.
I wish I could give it ten stars!
We enjoyed a wonderful mini vacation in this adorable cottage. Pete and Carol think of everything including the comfort of our standard poodle,Tina. They delivered delicious scones, baked by Pete, when we arrived and there were fresh eggs in the refrigerator. The farm atmosphere is delightful and it was very relaxing to sit on the terrace in the evening. I would highly recommend this little cottage to anyone vacationing in the area and I really do wish I could give it ten stars.
