I am a middle aged entrepreneur, and travel a lot. I am a perfectionist in everything I do, this house is without a flaw, kept extremely clean, beautifully, professionally decorated and cleaned and staged with everything matching and coordinating. I am looking for people and families looking to enjoy this one-of-a-kind house in a quiet, undiscovered, Hamptons-like neighborhood without the long drive and traffic. Please read my reviews, I hold myself and my home to the highest standards.
Joe I. purchased this house in 2001
It is on 1.5 acres surrounded by 3.5 acres of natural wetlands. I fell in love with the naturalistic settings and wildlife. During the months of September and October the muti colored foliage is just to die for. I am a fan of water and this house is truly surrounded by it, yet has the additional benefit of trees and seclusion. I don't even need shades. This home is my sanctuary away from the frenetic pace of the the business world.
This home should not have been built! It was built by the prior owner who was a judge who was able to obtain special permits to import soil on a natural salt mash and pond to construct this one-of-a-kind home. It is close to both a pond on the right and a creek on the left and even has a dock on the end leading to a salt water bay. The most quiet, natural setting you will find. Just the place to sit outside and escape from it all. This is the type of place you go to to get away, find yourselves or write a book. So private you can have your own Garden of Eden in the back yard.
We booked this house for our family of five, including three teens, 13, 15, 16. Joe left the kayak out for them to use and that kept them busy out on the canal on his property for hours while us grown-ups met up with cousins whom we haven’t seen in years on the patio. There was plenty of seating inside and out to accommodate the kids and adults. The geese, swans, and ducks kept the younger ones busy on the pond and then canal on the property. Some of my family found it hard to find the house because it was so secluded, but it was worth it once we were there to enjoy each other’s company without modern distractions or noisy traffic. Ample sleeping arrangements, and very clean, too. Great time. A gem, only 75 minutes from Downtown, a different world.
We were blessed to have spent the holidays in this beautiful home. We stayed for two and a half weeks to celebrate Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, a 50th birthday party, an engagement, and New Year’s Eve 2016! We spent a wonderful time with our family in New York, and this house felt just like our home. The location and view speak for themselves, but I’d like to add that the house is kept immaculately clean and ready for even the most discriminating vacationer. There were plenty of extra blankets and pillows as well as ample towels and toiletries for each bathroom. We did a lot of baking and cooking for the holidays, and the cabinets were stocked with flour, spices, etc., for anything left off the shopping list. I can’t say enough about the kindness and professionalism shown by the owner, Joe. He was easy to work with from contract signing all the way through to return of our pet deposit for our dog we had with us. He was very accessible for any questions we had and answered all our texts right away. He even went the extra mile to stop by on Christmas Eve to drop off a bottle of red and a bottle of white wine for our family to enjoy! It was a pleasure to have him show us his scrapbook of the house renovation from the time he purchased it. Joe has created a beautiful retreat in the middle of Bayport, and I would give him and the home a 5 out of 5-Star rating! Thank you, Joe, for being part of wonderful memories from our holiday celebrations.
We had a wonderful stay at this gorgeous place on the water. It is ideal for 2 couples and a handful of kiddos (since there are 2 bathrooms). You're only a short walk to the end of the block where there is an adorable coffee shop full of organic, gluten-free and delicious goods.
It's the perfect place to cook and entertain for a small group, play cards, hang out and explore the property with plenty of picture opportunities.
Manhattan families- the drive is only 1.5 hours away, but feels like you're a world apart from the nuisances of the city. I'd recommend this to any young parents looking for a retreat to rest, relax and reset. You basically have your own private botanical garden in your backyard, complete with two families of ducks.
Peace, serenity and a gorgeous setting to relax. Book it, you won't regret it. ;)
This house is really amazing; location, view, and size. My parents came all the way from Philadelphia and the moment they arrive they asked me to extend our stay. My kids really enjoyed it and it's unforgettable moment for them. We left back to Manhattan and they didn't stop asking when we gonna come back to this place. The owner was really nice and available 25/7, and he provided us with everything we need.
This home is absolutely gorgeous. My family rented the house because my wedding was at a venue nearby and it was a great little getaway. We took photos in the beautiful yard before the ceremony; it couldn't have been more perfect! The home has been recently redecorated with a beach theme, so it was even more beautiful than I was expecting from the photos. In the days after the wedding we kayaked right from the back yard and my husband even kept his boat at the dock; the owner, Joe, was so accommodating! It really felt like home.
The home is absolutely gorgeous and so is the location. And the pictures definitely don't give the credit to how beautiful the place really is. I actually rented this house for my wedding of 30 people and I absolutely loved it. The owner, Joe, went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed for my event. In fact he had the house repainted so it would look perfect for my wedding and so it did. Generally, I think this house is a perfect getaway place for a nice calm weekend with family and friends as well as a party such as small wedding, family reunion etc. Definitely would recommend this!!!!
This house is incredible! It is everything shown in the pictures and more. The landscaping is immaculate. The house is modern, elegant, and comfortable. My family and friends who stayed with us were all very impressed. The hot tub is a nice bonus as well.
The experience was prevented from being perfect in a few small but notable regards:
1 - There was a constant stream of people visiting the house in order to work on the landscaping or deliver packages to the house owner. It would have been nice if the weekend we rented the house was uninterrupted by these visitors - offering us some privacy.
2 - The booking process through Vrbo.com was wonderful, though the owner requested some additional documentation to be completed. It did not feel like the owner and I were 100% in tune during the process - but in fairness everything worked out wonderfully in the end. In retrospect, the owner and I should have talked via the phone a bit more instead of relying on text messaging.
3 - The vrbo.com description also mentioned a boat rental available. This is something I opted to pursue with the owner. After confirming and paying for the service for one day, the owner's plans seem to have changed. After a few days of frustration and uncertainty, the owner provided a full refund and I was able to make other arrangements. This combined with #2 left me a bit frustrated with the process prior to the rental.
4 - The pricing in the description body and the end pricing did not match. This probably just needs a quick update.
In summary, this was a beautiful home that we thoroughly enjoyed! I do not regret the booking and would do so again. Recommended! I would also recommend that you have a few conversations with the owner during the initial process - forgoing email and text messages to speak to him directly. I found this the best option.
