Introducing Palazzo del Mar, the elegant 19th century waterfront home of a wealthy merchant that's now been transformed into a luxury holiday home. Facing a Blue Flag beach on the Trabocchi Coast of the Adriatic in Abruzzo, it's perfect for a family/friends party of up to 11.

Two and a half hour drive from Rome airports, 40 minutes from Pescara Airport.

Available to rent: the entire first two floors, approximately 3200 square feet (300 square meters) of a 3-story building (owners' apartment on top), comprised of 2 vaulted ceiling bedroom suites on ground floor : Suite A: 2 queen bedded bedrooms with bath in between, Suite B: 1 queen bedded bedroom, bath, bedroom/sitting room with 2 folding single beds, a baby crib and a private garden. There is also, on the middle floor, a full size convertible sofa in one of the living rooms, and a single folding bed in the library.

Middle floor includes gourmet kitchen, dining room, 2 living rooms, library, laundry, 1 full and 1 half baths (with washer), PLUS large balcony facing sea and trabocco (antique fishing pier), very large rear terrace leading to orchard with seasonal fruits, 2 smaller balconies.

Top floor guest suite 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, could be rented for additional fee.

Garage. Walk to grocery, restaurants, gelato.

The owners live on the top floor, and will happily recommend places to go, historic and archeological sites, restaurants and wineries, and where to buy the best and freshest products to eat and drink in the spacious dining room or on the sunny terrace or the balcony overlooking the sea. We can also organize food tours to artisanal producers of olive oil, cheese, honey, cured meats, as well as visits to our favorite local wineries. And tours of neighboring towns and historical places.

Although summer is the prime season for beachgoers, many guests prefer September and October, when the crowds are gone but the weather is still fine. This is the time of the grape harvest, when the cantinas are busy crushing and processing the grapes for the next vintage. For more information

What makes this house unique

This house combines comfortable, spacious accommodations with direct access to the beach. Everything guests could want in terms of cooking, dining and relaxing facilities are provided, at a very reasonable price. And the availability of the owners to assist in any way is a major plus for travelers to an unfamiliar place.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a great place - or rather, what a great palace! The location couldn't be better, literally just a couple of minutes to walk across the road and onto the beach, with wonderful views of the sea and the coastline from inside the house. Secure private parking is very useful.

Inside is incredible, an imposing entrance hall, with a marble staircase; beautifully-furnished (and beautifully-kept) rooms; and a modern kitchen. To the rear of the property is a huge secluded garden terrace with plenty of space for family eating.

American owners Gail and Vincent live at the top of their palazzo and are always on hand - but never intrusive - with helpful tips and advice so you get the best from your stay. Mention needing some wine or a loaf of bread and Vincent's likely to drive you off to a local winery or bakery!

The beach is naturally a magnet for kids and there are plenty of nearby places during the day for snacks and ice-creams - and countless restaurants in the area for evening meals. And of course being Italy, everywhere is extremely kid-friendly!

All-in-all, a real taste of luxury for our week's stay in clean, comfy surroundings with friendly hosts. Couldn't have asked for more!

A great vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Our two weeks at Vince and Gails place in Fossacesia were great. We were two families with kids in the age from 7 to 13.

Its a big house with a lot of space to enjoy and it had everything you could ask for. Great kitchen and two patios on each side, one for the lunch and one for the evenings. The house is placed just by the beach with only a road inbetween. Fossacesia is small and calm with everything you need. We went to both Pescara and Lanciano. We loved Lanciano, it was very cousy and a lots of really good shops and lovely just walking around. The revention of the trip was of course(like all other is writing here) Vince and Gail. Their commitment with the guests is fantastic. Things like Vince making sure that all the water toys are inflated in the morning, taking us to places and shops that only the domestics knows about and then the wine....They know the best place to find some lovely bottles of that:)

There is only one disanvantage of this place and that is the noise from the road outside but if you invest in a pair of earplugs at night you will be ok with that.

Absolutley fabulous holiday!

  • 5 of 5

Ten of us stayed at the Palazzo and it lived it up to all expectations. We ranged from 11 years to 74 years and all loved the house. The property was spacious, cool and well maintained. We really loved that beach towels, sun loungers, inflatables, parasols were all available to use on the beautiful beach opposite the palazzo. We went swimming every day!

We had breakfast on the side terrace every morning with a view of the sea and used the terrace at the rear of the building in the evenings. We cooked at lot of meals and the kitchen was just fab. Vince and Gail were great hosts and nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend this property and would like to think we will return one day.

Italian Dream Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four and our friend's (family of 6) spent two weeks at Gail and Vincenzo's Italian dream villa! It is situated across from a beautiful, clean, and family-friendly beach. The immaculate, well-equipped villa has waterfront views from every room. Firstly, Gail and Vincenzo are stellar hosts, who feel like family by the end of your stay. They take care of you and are there for whatever you might need. They clearly love the life that have created and that joie de vivre is felt in their home and their presence. You leave hoping you too can one day retire on the Adriatic coast! But until can visit Gail and Vincenzo.

The huge kitchen is perfect. We cooked lavish meals and they have everything you might need to do so. I was heating milk for a coffee and moments later Vincenzo came down with a milk-frother. That's just one example of how they are committed to making your stay comfortable and pleasurable. The giant veranda out back is perfect for meals and relaxing outdoors. There is a 15-minute cycle on the washing machine (super convenient) and a line to hang clothes outside. All of the beds were super comfortable and the pull-out couch in the living room was great to have for guests that visited. Three showers with great water pressure and hot water.

We spent most of our time relaxing at the beach and the house, but there is so much to discover in Abruzzo. Vincenzo brought us to Lanciano and brought us to all of the best local spots for fruits/veggies, cheeses, meats, wines, and local specialties.

We left Gail and Vincenzo's feeling refreshed and recharged. We will definitely go back!

Ein umwerfender Ausblick!!!

  • 5 of 5

Grande casa, grande vacanza!

  • 5 of 5

Amazing as always

  • 5 of 5

This is our 6th summer to this amazing beach front property and this is why we keep returning , the house has every thing that you could possible want and not just the easy access to the beach , the house is large and bright with a kitchen that makes cooking so easy and enjoyable that going out for dinner tends to get forgotten , its the little things that make the difference towels being provide beach ones as well , Vince taking care of your rubbish and the washing machine with its 15 minute cycle! so when you are a family on holiday and the washing still needs to be done its enjoyable! their are some really good shops to buy all your groceries and an amazing farm .shop to buy fresh fruit , salad and vegetables.

The owners of the property Gail and Vince are always available to assist with any quires and point you in the right direction so even if its your first time here you don't have to worry about not being to sure where to go as they are always happy to help so for all these reasons we would truly recommend this house , place and Gail and Vince.
