Our detached, split level villa has a hill top position with breathtaking views of the sea and surrounding mountains. Simultaneously isolated and close enough to the beach,it's the perfect spot to enjoy a peaceful retreat and the beauties of Algarve.
Our villa, Casas do Malhão, is a nice combination of a romantic country-house, comfortably and elegantly furnished, with a fun vacation place, equipped with a large swimming pool and barbecue, and a chill out and games lounge.
From the main entrance guests can access the main floor, where the kitchen, living room, social bathroom and three en suite bedrooms are located.
The ground floor, accessible by a stair case from inside the main floor, contains the games room and lounge area, and the fourth en suite bedroom. There are patio doors in the games room and lounge area that allow for direct access to the backyard. These exterior doors also allow for step free access to the games room from the outside area.
The living room has large windows, high wooden beamed ceilings and a cosy mezzanine that serves as a library and office. A flat TV screen, a DVD player, cable tv and dinning facilities are located in the living room.
The kitchen is equipped with a washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, oven, hob, fridge/freezer and a second set of dining facilities.
All of the 4 bedrooms, three on the main floor and one on the ground floor, are en suite bedrooms. One of the bathrooms on the main floor has wheel chair access.
Bed linen and bathroom towels are provided. We also have one baby/toddler bed and chair.
There is an A/C set in every house division. The floor is heated during winter.
In the games room and lounge area, guests can enjoy a pool table, a poker table, table football, and a flat screen tv.
On the main garden, guests can find the saltwater swimming pool (9x5m long, 1m minimum deep, 2.10m maximum deep), an extensive lawn and facilities for outdoor dinning under a covered shade.
Although in the country side, Casas do Malhão is less then 1km away from Estoi and 9km away from the capital of Algarve, Faro.
Estoi is a cute and unspoiled village nestled in the foothills of Serra do Caldeirão. Through its narrow cobbled streets, visitors can find local restaurants and coffee shops that serve local delicacies. There are also a few small supermarkets, a pharmacy and a medical centre. There's a beautiful church in central square. On the second Sunday of each month, a market is held in Estoi, where a variety of clothing and handmade crafts, as well as fruit and vegetables can be found. Estoi also boasts two architectural gems, one is the Palacio de Estoi, known as the Pink Palace, and the other is the Milreu Roman ruins, one of the first villas built in the Algarve by the Romans. The Pink Palace is my favourite spot in Estoi. It is a Rococo palace with romantic gardens, fine plasterwork and dancing saloon overlooking a cute garden with a fountain. The place was transformed into a small hotel by "Pousadas de Portugal" and you can visit almost all the premises and even have coffee or a meal at the restaurant, which has a lovely balcony.
Public transportation in the Algarve is quite poor and not available to reach the villa so a car rental is necessary. There are car rental companies both at the airport and in Faro, which you can easily reach either by bus or taxi.
The high way is just 5km away and runs through the entire region, giving access to all the beaches, nice little sea side towns and Spain. There's also a shopping centre on the outskirts of Faro.
The villa has sufficient parking space for 6 cars.
