This retreat offers a grand view of the Sequatchie Valley from a wide porch with Adirondack chairs. It is situated in a black oak forest on a mountain ridge line where wild turkey and deer roam. The house is 1,660 square feet with an additional 1,200 square feet of porch both open and screened. The great room, suitable for gatherings and games, has a vaulted ceiling and a wood burning stove. It also has a TV, stereo and DVD player. Ready for you to bring your own movies and music. The fully equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher, stove and microwave. Near the house is a wet weather creek that rushes over rocks in the spring and fall. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and sitting area and is located upstairs. Also upstairs in the loft are a double bed and a library table with a view of the valley. There is an upstairs bath and a downstairs bath. One downstairs bedroom has a double bed and the other has bunk beds. In the dining area the large oak table seats eight. On the back porch is a gas grill.

Clean, comfortable vacation house

  • 5 of 5

My family of five had a wonderful weekend at Jim's house. Floors are immaculate, and kitchen comes reasonably well-equipped for cooking. The property has access to some interesting features beyond the view, including some overhanging rock formations, a small stream, and some uncommon wildflowers (Gattinger's lobelia being one). Cell reception at the house is excellent, which is unusual in the area.

Comfortable, Clean and what a view!

  • 5 of 5

Having used vrbo.com for many trips, this was the rare time the home exceeded the description! The pictures are current. Clean, well kept, and comfortable. Plenty of room for our family to stretch out after long days of visiting relatives and taking in the surrounding sights. This area has much to do and see. We came for a family visit and when we pulled up to this lovely home we were all smiles. I loved having my coffee on the porch in the morning. Enjoyed the screened in porch at night as well. The view of the mountains made our days start perfectly. Plenty of room, peaceful, up to date appliances, tastefully decorated, this was a perfect place for a family. I would recommend this home for families, couples to share, or for a quiet, peaceful getaway with your loved one.

Centrally located to many attractions

  • 5 of 5

Everything as described! Very clean, no problems. Travelled to DeSoto State Park and Little River National Park, to Huntsville for the US Space Museum and the Botanical Gardens in Alabama. Visited Chattanooga and South Cumberland State Park in Tennessee. Very close with beautiful waterfalls. Near to quaint towns as Sewanee and Monteagle. Geocaches nearby too! Great place to relax on the porch with a lovely view of the surrounding mountains- peaceful, quiet, secluded from the road, lots of wildlife... Beautiful!

What a great stay!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and out three girls loved our stay in Sewanee. We went to the grocery store the day we arrived and did not leave again for three days! The house was great. It was described accurately and was accurately depicted in the pictures we had seen online. We had a big, open family room where we enjoyed games, puzzles, movies, cards and reading. We fixed meals in the kitchen and washed clothes before we left. Our last night, we had a great dinner at Pearl's. It was a great getaway for our family.

Roomy and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

This house sleeps 8 very comfortably - esp if 6 are couples, last two beds are bunk beds. It is very well kept and well supplied - also nicely decorated and welcoming. Modern appliances and everything quite ship shape. The wrap around porch is great and overlooks the valley - the I24 freeway runs down there but it is such a dramatic difference in altitude that it doesn't matter much.

The place was a little tricky to find esp arriving at night - an offline GPS map helped quite a bit to get there.
