About Lenya Perkins
I'm a seasoned Washingtonian, wife, and mother. I can't breathe without my family, and friends. I enjoy old romantic movies, music and food. My favorite destination was with my husband to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, we celebrated my birthday and anniversary of 15 years. It is my pleasure to host your family as our guest while you stay in Washington DC and/or the surrounding area. My words of assurance in life; "In all things give thanks unto the Lord, for it is the well of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
Lenya Perkins purchased this Townhouse in 1997
Why Lenya Perkins chose Fort Lincoln
I was born and raised in Washington, DC. I dreamed of travel, government and history during my childhood playing at the US Capitol and Union Station as a backdrop. This is a quiet community located in a part of Washington DC that's not in the center of the hustle and bustle of Downtown Washington but easy access in minutes.
What makes this Townhouse unique
The property is located in the Ft. Lincoln Community Northeast area in Washington DC. The Fort Lincoln area includes a Civil War-era fort constructed in 1861 for the defense of Washington. The fort had a perimeter of 466 yards (426 m), and places for 34 guns, including one 100-pound Parrott rifle. The fort is within the adjacent Fort Lincoln Cemetery, and can be visited. A community of History, Waterfront Port of Towns, Park, recreation and now shopping. Easy access to all major roads and 10 minutes from Downtown DC.

Girls weekend getaway!
We had a great time at the property, it was clean and we LOVED the goodie basket! It had everything we needed. 3 bedrooms with double beds and even a bathroom or powder room on every floor, important for 4 girls staying together! Thank you for the fast response time to needed battery replacement. I would recommend for anyone wanting a place near the city center.
The only thing I didn’t like is the toilet in the master bed room didn’t work properly and it doesn’t get warm in the master bed room other than that I loved it.
It was our pleasure to host your stay while in Washington DC. Thank you.
This townhouse - known as the DCGem - is every bit a gem! The house was immaculate, and everything we could possibly need was provided for us. Lenya Perkins is the quintessential host - her graciousness and generosity is unmatched! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will stay again if we travel to DC.
Thank you Richard! It was our pleasure to host your stay while in Washington for the birth of Grandchild. Our constant contact during this critical time was amazing. We would love to host your stay anytime your in the area. Thanks again
The town home was immaculate
The town home was located just 3 miles from our family. It was wonderful to be so close. Lenya had everything we would ever need plus a bowl of oranges to greet us. Lenya was very friendly. We would definitely stay there again.
Thanks Jan and Brock for allow the DC Gem to host your stay.
“A Gem” indeed
We were very pleased with the accommodations. The unit is very spacious and had all necessary amenities. The owner provided a notebook with info related to the unit as well as nearby restaurants and other places of interest.
The welcome basket, fresh fruit, cold water and chocolates added a special touch.
It was our pleasure to host you and your group during you stay in Washington DC. We highly recommend you and Your to any Future Host.
Lovely home in a quiet neighbourhood.
Stayed April 23 to 28, 2018 in DC Gem. Lots of room, property was clean and inviting. The cabinetry is tired and dated in the kitchen and bathrooms. Lots of nice perks in the gift basket such as laundry detergent, toothbrushes, razors etc. Apples and oranges in the fridge. Beds were comfy, lots of fluffy towels. There is hand soap, lotion, shampoo and cream rinse in the bathrooms. Costco is a 20 min walk. There isn’t much to see in this area. It’s a 20 minute Uber ride to the heart of Washington which cost us $15 each way daily. Bus and metro service from this area is a bit difficult to figure out. We would recommend this property if you want a great home base to see the sites that Washington has to offer.
Directly off route 50 when entering DC from Baltimore Washington Parkway and access to major highways in DC 95, 495, 395 and 295.
