Location : Adventurous holiday in a houseboat on the Brouwersgracht Canal district, one of the most wanted area in Amsterdam. It is a top way of experiencing Amsterdam It is a little bit magical. A unique piece of nature between the famous beautiful historical canal houses in the hart of the Jordaan. The comfort of a home and the freedom of a ship.
The water reflects on the sealing, watching the boats go by and you can enjoy feeding the various waterfowl/swans/goose/ heron and other birds and ducks who visit every day. And specially early in the morning or evening a serenity hangs over the canals.
The Jordaan is the 'heart and soul' of the real Amsterdam where life happens on the streets or in the corner pub. Old Merchant houses and beautiful monuments. A idyllic quiet spot although just around the corner, there are cafe's, restaurants, coffee-shops, markets. And here begins the longest shopping promenade with beautiful sight-seeings. Five streets in a row
We enjoyed a lot our holidays on your houseboat. Thanks a lot for this lovely experience. We hope to come back here soon.

Our skiing group - 5 friends (2 men, 3 women, just friends, none of us a couple) always go away for a weekend halfway between skiing trips & this year we chose Amsterdam. Staying on a houseboat is just the best thing to do! We had a great time. There's a comment about the boat being dirty and it probably does need repainting. However on our boat cruise round the canals it was obvious to us that all the houseboats have seen better days, they're just old. The boat is in a great location - 10 minutes from Central Station and you can walk just about everywhere. Or take a tram which is very easy, or use the 2 bikes that come with the boat. Marja left beer and wine for us, also chocolates, sweets and biscuits. There was tourist info in a big folder and she told us where the nearest restaurants and markets were. There were also some games (darts, football table, etc) which the guys enjoyed playing. We didn't meet the heron, but a little ginger cat came and curled up on the sofa with us! The boat was spacious - a least another 2 people could have slept on it with us - with a good sized living room (nice open fire). The kitchen has good facilities and we cooked breakfast there, then had lunch and dinner out, but you could make those too on the boat if you wanted. There is just one bathroom and one toilet which is separate from the bathroom, but that didn't bother us. We loved Amsterdam and agreed it was our best weekend away yet.
My friends and I were looking forward to staying on this houseboat but to our dismay we had to clean it thoroughly before we slept there. The boat is well in need of decorating and I am not sure if the woman who rents it actually lives there. When we arrived there was a glass of water on the bedside table and it stunk of cigarettes - I'm a smoker! It was as if she had been laid on the bed waiting for us. There were earplugs on the floor by the side of the bed and a sock and wrapper on the floor in the other bedroom. If you are clean and expect a clean place to stay do not book here. I will be e-mailing owners direct about this place :-( money certainly not well spent ....
My friends and I really enjoy our stay at Marli's houseboat. It was clean, we got fresh towels and sheets. The owner is very nice. The fireplace was very appreciated by all of us. Close to the center.
We'll come back :) !
I stayed in the house with my friends. There were nine and had a wonderful time. The house is spacious, very comfortable and equipped with everything. Linens, towels, dishes, cutlery, glasses, wood, games, maps, bicycles. We stayed in the house in February but the heating throughout the house prevented us from getting cold. It is very close to the center, some 10 minutes on foot. The neighborhood is quiet and the owner is a very helpful and hospitable woman. We had a great time, if ever we will know where to stay!!
The flatboat is really pretty. It is very confortable, we were 8 and could have a bed for each.
The location is great: very close to the station and yet in a very charming and quiet neighborhood. We could easily access to the city center (redlight district, station, bars & nightlife) but also to the museums (Van Gogh) and other attractions like Anne Franck's House.
Marja has welcomed us the best way possible: being flexible on the hour of arrival, providing sheets and towels for everyone, giving us files full of touristic tips... It's been a pleasure to plan our trip with her!
I highly recommend this flat boat for a week end with friends. We were 8 people aged 25.
