My name is Kevin Maas originally from Cherry Point NC and son to a retired Marine Corps Colonel who now lives in Fredericksburg Va. I recently retired after 38 years in retail management and wanted start a new venture where I could continue to meet people and share my interest of the outdoors. My outdoor interest took me and my British wife Pip to East Tennessee nearly 10 years ago and we fell in love with how laid back and peaceful this beautiful area of the United States is. Over the years we have made many good friends in this part of east Tennessee so we decided to invest in a property where we could rent to other outdoor enthusiast who love being outdoors and in the wilderness. Pip and myself and our two four legged children Sasha & Major welcome you to visit our cabin and experience a 'Retreat to Relaxation'
Ask about Windemere a new rental opportunity coming in January 2013. 2 bedroom cabin located just minutes from Ambleside
Kevin & Pip Maas purchased this cabin in 2012
Ambleside of the Smokys cabin in Douglas Lake Resort offers something for every walk of life.

Ambleside Cabin is within minutes of The Great Smoky Mountains National Park which is the most visited national park in the United States
We loved our stay. Very quite and we even had a box turtle visit us every morning.
Tranquil log cabin set in tall trees - great for bird spotting. Hot tub was a favourite with the teenager and excellent Wifi an additional blessing. The rocking chairs on the deck became a favourite place for breakfast, regardless of the weather. We had a 40 degree swing in temperature whilst we stayed, snow on the hills and a exceptionally high winds, but the cabin kept us warm and cozy, and equally cool when the sun returned.
Easy to get to all the main attractions and plenty of info in the cabin to allow us to make sensible choices where to go each day. When we didn't go out to eat there were sufficient utensils and bits and bobs in the kitchen to make "home cooking" simple and the kettle was a life saver (being British and needing copious cups of tea....).
So if you want to unwind, see nature close up and explore the glitzy and natural beauty of this part of Tennessee let Ambleside look after you as it looked after us.
Big thanks Pip and Kevin xxx
Since I'm a perfectionist it's not in my nature to give five stars. I want to go back every year. If your looking for a serene vacation at a reasonable price you will love this cabin. Close to downtown Gatlinberg and most of the sites in the area. Caring and helpful owner.
It was a cute cabin and worth what we paid but not much more. It could use a deep cleaning (blinds, curtains, deck, corners of floors, etc.).
Very Clean and perfect for my family and I. Would recommend staying here.
If you are looking for a secluded getaway, this is your place. My family spent a couple of days here during spring break, and found it very peaceful and relaxing. The hot tub was ready when we arrived and the kids immediately got in. Between the wrap around porch and the upstairs, there was plenty of room for our group of 5 to either visit or have some quiet time. The kitchen, while small, had enough space and supplies to do some real cooking. The beds slept well, and the bathtubs were AMAZING!. Kevin was incredibly helpful and quick to respond to my questions. I would love to stay here during the summer in order to take advantage of the lake. If you are looking for a sweet little out of the way place to enjoy nature, this is your place. ( The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the heating element died during our stay and we spent one night without hot water. Kevin responded quickly to my cry for help and had a repairman out the next day. )
