About Heather Stoltz

My grandparents purchased this property in 1976 when I was a young child and it has been a part of our family ever since. I live in San Francisco and myself and other family members spend a few weeks a year re-balancing at our family home. We think of our home as a great escape and revel in the peace and quiet of nature when we are there. It is a country home in the woods, peaceful quiet and well located to many adventurous things to do. We have all grown up now and have our own families but we still relish in the memories made at our family cabin and we continue to bring the history to life and introduce our kids to the wonderful area that is the Southern Oregon Coast.

Why Heather Stoltz chose Coastal Oregon

We have upgraded all of the systems for both the main house and the cottage. Our well water is tested quarterly, our cleaners are professional and we have routine maintenance services and inspections with the State Health Department. We have been doing vacation rentals long before it was "hip" to do so and our home was one of the first in the area to offer such a service. We've grown and adapted with the times (and competition). We are licensed and registered with the State of Oregon as an Official Vacation Rental. The property is clean and spacious and fully stocked. We provide chopped firewood for the wood burning stove. The field and back driveways allow for one to bring their toys like boats, ATV's, kayaks and wind sails. There are two beds, an additional bunk bed and 2 couches plus plenty of extra bedding. The living room is nice and large.

It is typically 10-15 degrees warmer at our house than in town which makes it a great get-away. Summers are incredible and winters are muddy. We are a great landing place or jump off spot for all your local outdoor activities. For our fisherman and crabbers we have big counters for prepping and packaging your tasty goods to bring home with you. It's always good to know you have a place that feels like home to come back to after a long day out on the sea.

What makes this cabin unique

I love the wild blackberries, salmon berries, apples and mushrooms I can pick on my property. I love watching the many different birds that visit us and listening to the quietness of the wind. In the winter I like to listen to the storms and build big blazing fires and tromp through the woods. I enjoy cooking, baking and canning in the old style and simply relaxing into nature at the cabin. I like to hear the far away sound of the ocean waves crashing on the shore (it's just a mile and a half away). I love watching the zillions of stars at night and making out the various constellations. I like to breathe in the fresh Oregon air and explore the areas seeing waterfalls, rivers and oceans. We love to go fishing and crabbing and golfing. The quaintness of Old Town Bandon is a special treat in life.

Cabin in the Woods - Bandon, OR

  • 3 of 5

The home has the feel of a cabin in a wooded area. Quiet road without much traffic. The smell of mold was hard to deal with. We opened up the house and found some scented candles. The wood burning stove helped to cover the smell. We were surprised we had to wash everything from our suitcases once we unpacked. Beautiful hike to Lost Lake but no beach access.

Owner's Response: We had our contractor take a good solid look at what you mentioned in this review. What we discovered is that guests are not leaving the fan on in the bathroom which had caused mildew to build up in the ceiling of the bathroom. We've installed a much stronger fan in the bathroom and we do ask guests to leave the fan on when they use the bathroom and for some time after they are finished. We had an inspector out and there was no mold found in the home. We also had the state health inspector out in December of 2016 and they confirmed no mold issue in the home exists. Just wanted to respond so our future guests are aware that we take concerns and mentions like this with all seriousness and we take immediate action. Thanks for staying with us!

It's like the perfect woodsy, magical, beach cottage from some fairytale...

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for two nights while crabbing in Bandon. We absolutely fell in love with the place. Peaceful, rustic, cozy, good vibes...plus it was clean. The owner was very helpful and easy to get ahold of. Definitely recommend!

A great little home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 1 week and really enjoyed our stay. Clean and quiet just what we wanted. The home had everything that we needed. It is a little dated but that is part of it's charm. The owner was very responsive when we had a question about the internet. You don't notice the neighbors at all. Thanks for the use of your home.

Quiet and relaxing location.

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable and peaceful location near Bandon. My husband and I stayed 5 nights with our son and our granddaughter and had a great time. Location is warmer and less windy than on the beach. We enjoyed the New River Nature Center and the wildlife park nearby. Lovely hikes nearby and some interesting shops to visit on that section of Hwy 101, as well as some great restaurants and shops in Bandon. The house was clean with well equipped kitchen, very nice remodeled bathroom, and enjoyed having washer/dryer available. Heather the owner was a delight to talk with and responded quickly to questions. The listing description is very accurate.

We enjoyed the quiet and beauty of the surrounding area. The cabin was what we expected and had everything we needed for the week that we stayed. Good beds and comfortable couch and chairs. I would recommend the cabin. If we need a place to stay in the area again we will stay there.
