About Julie Shaffery

I live in Monmouth County, New jersey and have been bringing my children and family to Pigeon Forge for over 17 years. I have traveled a lot and I am happy to call Pigeon Forge my second home.

Julie Shaffery purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Julie Shaffery chose Tennessee

Since I was a little girl, it has always been my dream to own a log home. After visiting the Smokys and surrounding areas I knew where that log home had to be. The beauty of the Smoky Mountains is like no other as well as the food, the people, the entertainment and attractions.

What makes this cabin unique

After visiting the area a number of times I knew the type of log home I wanted as well as the resort that I wanted it to be in. I kept watching Realtor and hoping that one day I would find the log home of my dreams and I found it. I didn't wait and I never saw it in person. I called my Realtor and made a full price offer. I had to have this one. She did the inspections and all of the things needed to buy it. We made it to the closing late and closed on it without ever seeing it. Imagine our surprise to walk into our log home for the first time. Now we can share our dream with you all.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Oh my!!! What can I say? Thank you for a gorgeous cabin stay. Everything looks great including the view. The food in Tennessee was awesome. I think we're going home heavier than when we came. We have to visit again soon.

The property was very nice with plenty of room for our family weekend.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was very nice and easily accommodated our family of seven for the weekend. The decks provided great views and also privacy when using the outdoor hottub and sauna. Each bedroom had its own bathroom which was wonderful and we all enjoyed the family game room.

Beautiful property and close to Pigeon Forge

  • 4 of 5

The property was beautiful with a beautiful view off the deck. Plenty of room for us 4 couples. The only problem we had was with the lighting. In one bedroom the fan light wouldn't work, in another the lamp was burned out. I like to read before turning in for the night and that just wasn't possible.

Owner's Response: Hi Wanda. Thank you for staying at our cabin. In your welcome email I explained that if you needed anything to please call me. I would've sent someone right up and if it were late, I keep extra light bulbs in the cabinet above the stove. Next time! I do hope you will stay again. Thanks Julie

enjoyable cabin

  • 5 of 5

Our family really enjoyed our stay. The furnishings were were better than other places we have stayed, as in the furniture, tv's etc...

The only real issue we had was the door lock numbers. As soon as we called they were fixed, no problem. Julie answered her phone

each time we called. After the 1st day that was no longer a problem. Very nice!

Great views

  • 3 of 5

House was nice, however, upon arrival it was not clean. When cleaning crew arrived 2 hrs after check in, we already cleaned the kitchen and removed all the garbage from floors and fridge. We were told that some supplies would be left; we were left with no dish soap that was there when we arrive and less than a roll of paper towels after cleaning people left. W then found food left in the stove.

Don't get us wrong, we enjoyed our stay after the first day, but the pool table is falling apart and sauna did not work. We do not agree with the $150 cleaning fee when house was not ready; cleaning crew stated they did not know we were arriving.

Owner's Response: I am very sorry that the cabin wasn't ready for you upon your arrival. I have a 3 PM check in but for years have been wanting to change it to a later time. Our cleaning company has hundreds of cabins to clean with many cleaning people. Sometimes, but not often there is a mix up of who is on the calendar and sometimes on a busy holiday, they need a little extra time to get to all cabins. I really wish you would've called me to tell me that you needed dish soap. I would've sent someone right out with some as well as take away any garbage or food. Again, this is a very rare thing that doesn't normally happen. On another note, I really wish someone would've called me to tell me that someone had slammed the microwave door too hard and broken the glass on it. Our next guest had to hold the door closed until it stopped working all together and had to have it replaced. Our guest are allowed to rate us and finally we are allowed to rate our guests so other cabin owners can read it.

Very nice cabin.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this cabin with 4 families, there was plenty of space for all of the adults and their children. The cabin appeared to be very well maintained and clean. Plenty of entertainment for everyone. The kids very much enjoyed the air hockey table, pool table, and arcade games while the adults relaxed in the hot tub, which fit 6 adults perfectly (though none of us are very large). The views, especially from the top deck, were absolutely GORGEOUS! We enjoyed sitting on the rocker in the morning with coffee looking at the mountains. Beds were nice and it was nice having our own bathrooms.

There were only two things that when we arrived were a bit different than in the description of the cabin.. It was a little further from Pigeon Forge than stated in the description. It said it was only 3 miles from the main parkway, which was not the case. Unless our GPS's took us completely out of the way, it was a little longer than 3 miles. Nothing too bad, though.

The second thing that was a little different than the description is that it states "We now have Free tickets to local attractions! Ask us about the details." however, there were no tickets. When we called the cabin rental number before booking I was sure to ask about it and the gentleman I spoke with said there were in fact tickets that can be obtained upon check in (which was exactly the case at the last cabin we stayed at). However, this time there was no check in process, just headed straight to the cabin, and when I contacted the owner about the tickets she said it was a promotion that was offered for an extra $10/day and was removed from our quote. We were unaware of that. Again, not a very big deal, but if you're banking on getting free tickets, just be aware you may not get them, or may have to pay extra.

All in all it was a great stay. Julie was very prompt in addressing anything we reached out to her for, so we were grateful for that. And we had a great stay.

Owner's Response: Hey Tasha. I am so glad that you all enjoyed your stay at our cabin. It really makes me happy to read reviews like yours. In your welcome email I send directions which provided 3 different ways to the cabin. The back entrance by the water tower is the route that is 3 miles from the Parkway via Henderson Chapel Road. I actually made sure of it before I advertised it. Sometimes I do hear the GPS will take people much longer routes. ugh. I have been trying to remover the ticket ad from the web site but I am not having any luck. I did offer a promotion during off season which was one ticket per night to either Tomb or Firehouse Golf at a value of $10. It says to ask about the tickets and if upon booking someone asks about it, I will explain it. Instead of mailing out tickets, I just remove $10 per night if nobody asks about it. After you have already checked into the cabin, it is too late as I have no way to get you those tickets. I am not sure where you called as it was a wrong number. I will be the only person who ever answers my phone. I am so sorry for the mix up. I really do hope that you all come back and stay again soon.
