If you can name it you can do it here!! This house is located on beautiful Beaver Pond and overlooks Shawnee Ski Mountain just 2 miles away. The house is located on a private lane and has its own beach. There are 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (2 full baths) and can easily fit up to 8 people. While here feel free to enjoy the canoe, kayak, grill, or fire pit or just sit back and enjoy the view from the 16 foot deck. If you wish to have a night out and wish not to drive you can walk up the lane to Pleasant Inn where there is a restaurant and bar with entertainment on weekends. North Conway is close by (20 minutes) where there are many restaurants and shops along with a host of family friendly activities. During October the Fry-burg Fair is only 10 minutes away. No matter what season you are in this home will accommodate you from swimming, to skiing from fires outside by the waterfront or on cold winter nights inside by the wood stove, to watching the Loons land on the water to ice fishing in the winter. If you can name it you can do it here.
We are a family that have entertained and enjoyed this house and its beautiful surroundings since 1997. We have entertained adults and children (ages ranging from newborns to 82) here and all have enjoyed it. It truly is an oasis, a place to rejuvenate you mentally, physically and spiritually. I am certain you will enjoy every minute there.
Henry DeMello purchased this house in 1997
Not only is the property located on a beautiful spot but it is also beautiful within. The house was just completely remodeled in 2008; from bathrooms to kitchen to the deck and bedrooms. It was done with a sense of style and comfort for all those who stay in it. I don't know what season is the best to stay. In summer it is so much fun to light a fire and sit by the water enjoying a drink and family and friends. In winter taking walks on the frozen lake and enjoying a nice wood fire in the woodstove. In Fall taking the canoe around the lake and watching the leaves change. In Spring taking long hikes to see the rebirth of life. Honestly, it is a place of rejuvenation and relaxation to be enjoyed with family and friends.
I agree with most of the previous reviews. The pictures don't do this home any justice. It's much nicer in person. First off the owner, Henry is easy to contact and he gets back to you very quickly. He is great to deal with. The house is fantastic, from its location on the pond to the cleanliness. We used the canoe and kayaks everyday to fish and paddle around the pond. The fishing was excellent! The fire pit outside is great at night. We also saw a lot of wildlife while here. A beaver made an appearance at dusk every night and there was a duck at the beach everyday. The back deck was huge and we ate outside for every meal. We will go for sure!
The pictures don't do this house justice! We had a great time using the canoe and kayaks for fishing and just paddling around. The pond is gorgeous. We relaxed at night around the fire pit..it was great. Henry was easy to get a hold of and very easy going.. We had 6 adults and the house fit us comfortably. The kitchen is stocked with utensils and pots and pans. We are definitely booking again!
This home has the best lot on Beaver pond. The house was both bigger and nicer than we expected! The highlights were the kayaks, canoe, and fire pit. There was plenty of dry firewood for evenings sitting by the lake next to the fire. The kids loved the swimming rings, horse shoes, board games, and wiffle ball and bat.
We saw our first wild beavers ever in our lives! They tended to swim by the home in the early evenings. We also saw turtles, woodpeckers, toads, and fish. Beaver pond appears to be a really healthy ecosystem. The water was perfect for swimming.
We had plans for sightseeing, but the house and lake were so wonderful that we ended up staying on Beaver Pond. The only thing we did was hike up Shawnee Peak for the views and wild strawberry and blueberry picking.
As for the home itself, the renovations were very nicely done with a moose theme. The house is huge. We didn't even use the bottom two levels. The kitchen is right off the deck, and we ate almost every meal on the deck.
We did have one hiccup - no hot water on arrival. Henry was really nice about it and sent a guy immediately out to install a new pump. Great landlord!!
We are so thankful for our week in Henry's beautiful home!
As I drove up to the house, it was a "10" based on the location. The inside scored a "10" as well. All of my family members loved the home, the lake, the town. Very comfortable beds and layout of the home. Kayaks and canoe are provided along with beautiful fire pit on the beach with plenty of wood in the shed. A wonderful place to create family memories. We will definitely return to this rental. Loved sitting on the deck and taking in the view - so relaxing. A must rent again for sure!!!!!
My family and I enjoyed the beautiful home overlooking the quiet pond. It was perfect for kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding, or just relaxing. We also loved the fire pit for evening fires. The home was everything it was advertised to be and more. We loved the location and can't wait to return. The only thing that could make it more perfect would be swimming. I wasn't comfortable with the idea of swimming in the pond(no sandy entry), but the neighbors were in the water daily. Loved it, looking forward to returning!
We had such a great experience from renting from Henry! He was very nice and his property was excactly if not more beautiful than shown here. I highly recommend you rent this property it is close to a couple a nice small towns, the lake was peaceful and the house was comfortable and inviting. Thank you for everything Henry! We will def be back for another stay soon.
