This property was unspoiled, all forested, and offered opportunity to nestle the house among native trees and wildlife where nobody had cleared before. Maximum trees and native plants have been retained. Wildlife is appreciated and views are natural.
Architect designed and built this home to maximize the spectacular forest setting, using major glass areas to frame vistas from every room. Featured is a great room with ceiling slope matching the roof, bedrooms/baths on opposite sides of the living area. In this house you can experience the Florida wilderness in comfort and style.
I loved the property, I loved everything about the house. They even provided 3 different types of coffee pots to meet everyone's needs. The house was musty smelling when we first entered it, but after about an hour of running the ceiling fans, the air was normal. None of the bedding or furniture was musty smelling. All the beds were comfortable and the house has lots of windows. I would go back in a heart beat. We were about 10 to 15 minutes away from several of the Forest entrances and the food in the area restaurants was great.
We were very, very pleased with our first stay at wonderful Millennium Cottage. We were quite comfortable there. It proved a perfect home base for our exploration of nearby trails, the charming little towns of Cross Creek, Micanopy, and McIntosh, as well as visits with family. There is so much more we would like to do and see in the area.
We did have a most wonderful time at the cottage and hope to plan another visit there very soon.
Our second visit in 3 months. We use the cottage as a base for kayak trips. Just plain wonderful
We stayed four nights in October 2016 and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The weather was cooler than expected but that worked out perfectly for the outdoor adventures we had planned. Our two pups loved being able to wander around in the fenced in yard, with our supervision of course. They don't get to be off leash very often. The house was clean and as comfortable as could be! The property around it is beautiful with citrus trees and wildlife. We saw a fox, turkeys and even woke up to the sounds of an owl the last morning we were there. Can't imagine anyone not giving this rental 5 starts!
The home is lovely and beautifully decorated. Everything you could need is provided and the setting is magical. We enjoyed hiking in the Ocala National Forest and dinner at Gator Joe's! The home is clean and well stocked - a real gem. You can't beat it for a peaceful retreat that is close to restaurants, groceries, and the national forest!
We stayed four nights and it was perfect. Went Kayaking during the day. The Millennium Cabin is located just a few minutes from anything you need but is very quiet and private. The house is beautiful. We will return in a few weeks.
Adjacent to Ocala National Forest hiking and horseback trails, natural springs and streams with canoeing and swimming. Spectacular Florida Carriage Museum and equestrian resort. Florida Horse Park (Equestrian Events and trail rides) 45 minutes away. Cross Florida Greenway (horse, bike, hiking trails). Barrel racing. 1-1/2 hour trips to Marineland (run by the Georgia Aquarium, offers Swim With the Dolphins) and Ormond Beach. St Johns and Ocklawaha Rivers for boaters.
