We love living in the unique small town of Palmer Alaska! We have called Palmer home since moving to Alaska in the 1980's. Our first home was near the Matanuska Glacier. Now we currently reside closer to the townsite of Palmer.

Our love of Palmer and its history led us to purchase our historic colony house. This little gem needed some tender loving care to restore her to her former glory and to continue telling her story. The Campbell House is located on the Springer system of roads ~ a most sought after location. Its a beautiful setting surrounded by farms that grow world famous Alaskan produce. Enjoy the glorious views of Pioneer Peak - our beloved Palmer mountain. It was a little house that needed a lot of love. Just the right house for us - love Palmer, love its history, love the location - win, win, win! :)
The Campbell House has been accepted to the National Historic Register! So exciting to have restored and preserved ~ and to share the history of the 1935 Palmer Colony project!

I could live here! Spacious. Modern amenities. Quiet and private.
This is a very well kept home in a quiet area. Lots of attention to details by the property manager. Easy check in and check out.
Stayed here for 4 days with a colleague for business. So much better than a hotel. Perfect combination of character and modern conveniences. 3 large bedrooms and a nice large bathroom. Full kitchen - that had everything you could possibly need, laundry and everything was super clean. Nice views from the yard. Private but close to everything in Palmer. There aren't any decent hotels in Palmer so Campbell House is really your best bet. Owner was very easy to work with, absolutely no issues with getting in our out. Will definately stay here again next time I'm in Palmer on business.
This was the perfect place to stay in Alaska. While not remote, the house was very cozy, and equipped with everything we needed.
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay in the Campbell House. As a third generation Colonist it brought back lost of memories of growing up here just around the corner in the 40s and 50s.
The suggestion to unpack downstairs is sound. The stairs are steep and narrow but the rooms up stairs are adorable.
The kitchen is well stocked for preparing your own meals. Lots of reading material about Alaska and comfy sofas to curl up and read in. Very cozy. I would definitely recommend it to friends.
I stayed in the Campbell House with my two older children while visiting my family and going to the Alaska State Fair. It was the perfect location for us and I can't say enough good things about the house. It was so well set up, they seemed to have thought of everything. The house is warm, comfortable and beautifully restored. The outdoor spaces are lovely with a rolling grass lawn, flower beds, a swing, and stunning views of Pioneer Peak. The kitchen is large and well stocked. Our experience was amazing. We will definitely be back!
The Campbell House is a restored 1935 Colony House located in the heartland of Palmer, in the shadows of magnificent Pioneer Peak and surrounding farmlands.
Palmer is a historic town which grew rapidly when the New Deal Act of 1935 was put into action by President Roosevelt. Colonists from Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin were selected to move to Alaska to develop the land thru farming and related industry.
The Colonists lived in a Tent City until the lottery drawing took place which determined their home sites.
George and Onabel Campbell from Mio, Michigan drew Quarter 54 in the lottery drawing and were assigned the property that the Campbell House is on. Also still standing is the original chicken brooder.
Palmer town square has many historic buildings and monuments teaching about this time in United States history.
