This unique two bedroom cabin is like nothing you've ever seen or stayed at before. Located in the woods at the tip of Leelanau County, it lies on the shores of beautiful Cathead Bay - a natural, pristine, sandy bay with shallow water for great swimming, kayaking, and water sports. This is the getaway location with access to an inland lake for fishing, bird watching, and hiking. Miles of uninterrupted beach makes for pleasant walks searching for Petoskey stones or enjoying the ever changing shoreline, natural dunes, and area wildlife.
This distinctive cabin sleeps 4 with two Queen Beds. It includes a fire-pit, horseshoes, gas-grill, and an open deck that allows for awesome sunrises, sunsets, and star-gazing. Don't let your fantastic 'Up North' experience end with summer. This area is well known for its spectacular Fall Color Tour. You can enjoy being in the center of the amazing color changes with biking, golfing, hiking and wine tasting.
The Cabin at Cathead Bay is a place to take you 'Off The Grid' and enjoy a peaceful, affordable get away.
This lakefront property was purchased in the early 1900's by the Bradley family and passed down to the current owner. The cabin was started in 1968 and became a summer working project for the entire family.
Clear days provide views of both North and South Fox Islands. Mackinac sailboats can be seen during the annual race. Not uncommon for sailboats to anchor in the bay overnight. Light from the Lighthouse can be seen at night along with excellent star gazing. This property has the best section of beach on Cathead Bay!
Wonderful little cabin with great access to Lake Michigan. It was perfect for our family and allowed us to really relax and enjoy our vacation. Thanks so much!!
We visited for a long weekend in early fall and found everything delightful. The cabin is spotless, well designed, and equipped with everything we needed. During chilly evenings the wood stove made the whole place toasty, with well maintained piles of dry wood just outside the door. The living room and porch look directly out onto Cathead Bay, which is steps away. The beach is lovely too, perfect for long walks. Definitely a place we'll return to.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay with perfect weather. The house is a great getaway if you are looking for quiet and seclusion. The house is thoughtfully designed and impeccably clean. The owners provide all amenities and very thoughtfully so.
This cabin offers the best of a stay in northern Michigan with a spectacular view and all the amenities of home. We love to cook and the kitchen equipment is first rate. We've rented many places in Michigan and elsewhere and this is the cleanest (10 out of 10) we've ever had. The layout is unique with the appearance of a lighthouse or windmill and most of the interior space includes a view of Lake Michigan. We enjoyed daily walks on the beach and finding Petoskey stones, reading, relaxing, enjoying an evening fire in the fire pit (wood is included). The owners are very helpful and easy to work with. I read suggestions from prior reviews and believe all have been implemented. We loved eating at Fischer's (a long time local favorite) and 9 Bean Rows (a long time favorite of ours) in Sutton's Bay. I can easily recommend this cabin to friends and relatives (although part of me wants to be sure it's available when we return next year).
Perfect spot for couples wanting private get away. Tucked away in the woods along the beach and owners respecting the privacy of their guests. Great spot for sitting on the beach, on the deck or around the fire pit chilling.
We had a wonderful week in this charming cozy cabin. The cabin was very clean and well maintained. I was very happy that the kitchen was very well equipped, had everything I needed for nice meals since I enjoy cooking. I wished a picnic table or a small outdoor dining set were there on the deck so we could eat outside.
The beach is just gorgeous! The water is crystal clear and sandy and not too deep for a long way out, it is great for swimming. First 2 days were perfect last of summer days, we spent most of our time at the beach. Then the storm came, the wind blew so hard that I almost could not shut the door ! The power was cut off for a whole night. I was concerned that we might not be able to stay for a whole week without having any electricity but fortunately the lights came back on the following morning. It was scary but exciting.
We tried to watch DVDs we brought from home for the cold nights but unfortunately we could not figure out how to turn the sound on the TV. It should be a simple matter but some reason there was no sound no matter what we tried, oh well, it was not a big deal. We had nice music, internet (!!), a bottle of wine and cozy fire of wood burning stove !
It was a exciting and at the same time very relaxing week. We enjoyed our stay so much, definitely would like to come back next year ! I recommend this cabin with very high marks but really want it to be a best kept secret in Leelanau Peninsular.
Leelanau State Park - Lighthouse, Peterson Park for amazing sunsets, Sleeping Bear Dunes (Glen Arbor), Fishtown in Leland, local vineyards and wine tasting, and Woolsey Airport - grass runway with annual pancake fly-in / antique car show.
