Overview

About the property

6 guests in 2 bedrooms + livingroom, 2 bathrooms. Fireplace. Great yard.

RAFFAELLO – Roomy, light-and-bright, own lawn and parking.

A former two-storey, very welcoming typical early 1900’s Bolognese rural house, our residence is located in the Calderara section of Bologna, only a few kilometers from the center of town. It benefits from good public transportation connections (suburban train at 300 mts – 8 minutes to the center!) and is extremely convenient to the airport and the fairground.

The residence can comfortably accommodate 22-23 guests as a whole in three totally independent, self-sufficient units named after famous Italian painters – Raffaello (6 guests), Michelangelo (8 guests) and Leonardo (8-9 guests). It features its own private parking (free) and a pretty fenced yard (barbecue provided) which is safe for the kids and ideal to relax after a long sight-seeing or business day. The windows overlook both farming land and a couple of storage-industrial barns. A very effective double glazing, noiseproof insulation prevents from possible disturbances caused by the airport and the nearby industrial area. The property as a whole underwent total renovation in 2012 paying particular attention to decoration, details and functionality.

All units are air conditioned, feature their own independent heating system and firewood is available for the fireplaces. Cotto floors, timber ceilings and furniture chosen with love and zest mix with all the necessary modern appliances including a dishwasher, a washing machine, a microwave oven, a satellite TV with VCR/DVD and complimentary internet wi-fi connection. All the above to make your stay at our residence exactly like home – or even better!

Rooms are large, bright and charming, all units are independently accessible for total privacy. Unit layouts are:

- RAFFAELLO (accommodates up to 6 guests) Ground floor: large living-dining room (1 double sofa bed) with a fireplace, kitchen (all tools provided), bathroom. Upper floor: 2 bedrooms (room 1: 2 single beds; room 2: 1 double), bathroom. Furniture is mostly antique.

- MICHELANGELO (accommodates up to 8 guests). Ground floor: entryway, large living-dining room with a fireplace (1 double sofa bed), kitchen (all tools provided), bathroom with a Jacuzzi and a shower, laundry room, small storage room. Upper floor: one 3-single (or 1 queen-size + 1 single) bedroom, with own bathroom; one 2-single (or 1 queen-size) + 1 single sofa bedroom, with own en-suite bathroom.

- LEONARDO (accommodates up to 8-9 guests). Ground floor: large living room with a fireplace (1 double sofa bed), kitchen (all tools provided), bathroom. Upper floor: one bedroom (sleeps 6: 1 double + single bunk-bed, 1 two-single bunk-bed, one single bed), own en-suite bathroom; one double + single bedroom with own bathroom.

Units can be rented separately. The changeover day is flexible and the minimum stay is 4 nights.

With its location and general features, our residence is ideal for families or large groups, the corporate person, the tourist. Along with the center of Bologna, all the major northern-central Italian art cities are just a stone's throw away and easily reachable by train. It is also an ideal accommodation for the business person in need of a strategically-positioned headquarters that is close to the fairground, the airport and the highway. All guests will enjoy total comfort and absolute convenience – exactly as you wish.

About Proprietari Associati Managing Company

I am a retired entrepreneur in my early 60's, married, two children. A true passion for photography and traveling, I help my wife Anna in her organic farming activity (the farm is walking distance to the house). I lived in Canada for a while and love making friends from all over the world.

Proprietari Associati Managing Company purchased this farmhouse in 1989

Why Proprietari Associati Managing Company chose Bologna

We bought this house when we decided to leave the busy center for something closer to our way of living, which was definitely countryside-oriented. After a short stay here we bought another house nearby - where we presently live - and passed this one onto our children. Now the children are married and moved elsewhere, so we decided to turn the house into a short-stay rental.

What makes this farmhouse unique

It was away from it all and a typical Early-1900's Bolognese country house, so we fell in love with it and its warm, family atmosphere.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This villa is one of the nicest properties I stayed at. Immaculately clean, spacious, well appointed, and was a home from home for a few days. Alberto, Anna and their family have seen to every detail of the apartment, right down to their local wine and produce! Great location, steps away from the 8 minute train ride into central Bologna. We thouroughly enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended, and the villa will be my first on my list when I return to Bologna.

Weekly market - groceries, clothing. We run an organic farm, so produce and wine are available in season on request. Nearby cities such as Modena, Maranello, Sant'Agata (Ducati, Ferrari, Lamborghini factories) are easily reachable both by car and train. Università del Gelato (Ice Cream University) is just 10 minutes drive. The short distance to the local train station (400 mts.) allows visiting the major Northern/Central Italian cities in minutes (Bologna-Florence: 45 minutes; Milan: 55 minutes; Venice: 90 minutes; Ferrara, Ravenna: 45 minutes; etc.). We are in a key location! VERY CONVENIENT to Bologna Exhibit Center (Fiera District) - trafficky center can be by-passed! Winery and gourmet food tours can be easily scheduled (discounted prices) and so are traditional Bolognese cooking classes.

The Residence is located in the Calderara section of Bologna, only a few kilometers from the center of town. It benefits from good public transportation connections (suburban train at 300 mts – 8 minutes to the center!) and is extremely convenient both to the airport and the fairground.

A great pick

  • 5 of 5

We travel the world and often stay in amazing properties in beautiful locations but this is certainly one of my all-time favorites. The villa itself is warm, close to the airport yet fairly quiet, inviting and comfortable. The furnishings match beautifully to the character of the house but I must say the attention to detail on the outside of the house with a very well kept yard was a major plus. Having a great property that is also centrally located to northern-central Italy and cities like Florence, Venice, Modena (Ferrari Museum & Factor), Santa Agata (Lamborghini Museum & Factory), Bologna (only 8 kms, with suburban train service - Ducati Museum & Factory) made travel convenient for daytrip exploration. What is particularly fun is charming Bologna, which is less than 20 minutes drive and offered great restaurants, great shops and plenty of (free) shows and events. Highly recommend this for low stress vacation where you want to relax and pamper yourself. Great owners and excellent prices, too.

Pretty, cozy, great hosts

  • 5 of 5

This villa was ideal for our family stay. We thoroughly enjoyed its cleanliness,. comfort and charm. Great yard, safe for the children, free, safe private parking. Everything was in excellent working order and we actually considered the distance from the city center a plus - the rural setting was pleasant and quiet, the suburban train took us to the city in minutes. Nice, fiendly owners greeted us with two bottles of their self-produced organic wine and fruit. This rental is great value for your money. Not to be missed!

A Top Villa in a Top Location!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you, thank you Alberto for having such a wonderful villa and for making our stay in Bologna so enjoyable and memorable.

This villa is as described and will only exceeds your expectations. A short walk (~ 400m) to the train station puts Italy at your doorstep. From here we made excurions to Rome, Florence and Venice. A tip - if you're planning to visit Venice make the effort to get the 3am train from Bologna Central so that you arrive at Venice around 0520 for sunrise - it is truly spectacular and you will enjoy all that Venice has to offer with almost no other tourists!! The only issue is getting to Bologna Central as local trains don't run at that time. We drove in but parking is really difficult to work out so do a dummy run during the day to scope things out!

Thanks again Alberto - perhaps we'll see you in NZ sometime in the future!

What a fabulous stay in Bologna! Many thanks to Alberto and Anna for offering such a wonderful flat in a great location.....and for all their help and important tips along the way, their self-produced wine, etc.. The flat is as beautiful as the photos, the description is fully accurate, and Alberto and Anna are perfect hosts. We hope to stay again on our next visit to Bologna!

Excellent, look no further

  • 5 of 5

After a warm welcome from the owners, it's very easy for my family to settle in this beautiful, charming villa and its lovely surroundings. The place is meticulously kept and thoughtfully furnished. It is peacefully and quiet, a welcome one after visiting the many sites/towns of Emilia Romagna. We enjoyed the yard where we would sip Alberto's self-produced wine and watch the sunset. Best of all, Alberto and Anna are charming hosts and they provided us with some excellent tips of restaurants, pizzerias to go, etc. Their winery is remarkable and the tour strongly recommended. All in all, our stay here made this family vacation truly memorable and very special. We look forward to staying there again in our next visit to Italy.

Comfort and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

Our team rented this villa in March for Cosmoprof 2015 and we could not have been happier with our choice.

On our arrival we were met by Alberto, a wonderful host, who could not have been more helpful. The house is located on the outskirts of Bologna, the centre being easily reached by train (station within walking distance) and by car, approximately 15 minutes. We loved the location because it was like being in the real Italy, away from the tourist restaurants and bars. Shops and restaurants are a short drive away. The house has all you need for a comfortable stay, very clean and secure, with its own walled enclosure and gated entrance. We would definitely stay here again.
