Fully equipped 1 bedroom apartment with views of the Cathedral and terrace in the the center of the old city. Only 100m from from the Cathedral and 20 minutes walk from the Alhambra. The apartment is suitable for 2 people but can sleep 4. Has an open living room-kitchen which is fully equipped and luxury bathroom. Excellent location near the open market, from where you can go on foot to every place of the city. The terrace is perfect for alfresco dining.
There are two Hamman nearby the apartment. Don't forget to visit the bars in Calle Navas, Plaza Nueva, Calle Elvira and the Albayzin, the charming old Moorish quarter of Granada, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
One of the best point of the apartment is its location.
Our host Jesus was the most helpful owner I have encountered on OD. He kept in touch with us on landing at the airport and negotiated meeting places and timings when our arrival plans changed due to lost luggage and missed buses. He negotiated with the airline reps to ensure our luggage was safely delivered. I don’t know what we would have done without his assistance.
The apartment is a perfect hideaway for two. It could not be more central in a lovely old, but completely modernised and refurbished, building. It is on the top floor up in the roofs of the city, with a good lift. The roof beams make a lovely feature. The apartment was warm and cosy with a good heating system, necessary in Granada in winter. Everything you could possibly want in an apartment; comfortable bed, good furniture, plenty of storage space and a lovely working kitchen, roomy bathroom. But what makes this apartment an absolute gem is the outside space ….. Up in the roofs of the city, surrounded by other buildings and the cathedral, is a wonderful roof terrace. In sun all day, and with a very effective awning this lovely amenity has a view of the mountains, while we were there they were sparkling white against a brilliant blue sky. We had breakfast or lunch outside on the terrace every day. Had we wished to we could have eaten out for every meal in a different venue, all the restaurants cafes etc are moments away.
Another winning feature is the quiet. The apartment block is quiet. No noisy voices. The streets surrounding the apartment are pedestrianised. The cathedral bells may wake you in the morning, or the sun streaming through the shutters, but nothing from outside will wake you through the night.
Should you Google Earth this apartment do not be put off by the outside appearance of the tiny Calle down which the apartment is situated. The street looks small and dark, but so are all the streets around the cathedral, and they are buzzing with life. We wandered everywhere after dark and never experienced a moment’s anxiety.
It is evident, from the way he talks enthusiastically about life in the city, that Jesus loves this apartment and this part of Granada. He has good reason. We will definitely be returning.
The apartment was just as advertised. It was fully equipped with everything you would need and was clean and well maintained and I would recommend staying here if you visit Granada. The rooftop terrace was great and has a nice view. The owner was great and went above and beyond in providing customer service! He arranged parking for our car and provided transportation to and from the apartment. We have never had that kind of service anywhere else. All of the attractions of Granada are in easy walking distance of this apartment.
Loved the location of this cute little apartment with beautiful views of the cathedral on one side (especially lite up at night) and mountains on the other side. Apartment was clean and everything worked fine. We cooked and used the washing machine and hung our clothes on rooftop deck to dry. Walked everywhere, plenty of restaurants and bars close by but street was very quiet. Jesús was so accommodating and a pleasure to meet. We ate at Botanico around the corner and loved it. Jesus was a very pleasant and helpful host. He met our taxi in the Plaza Trinidad, which is just a few steps away from the apartment, and helped us get settled. The apartment itself is a modest, cozy space, with a terrace at rooftop level. We liked to be up there as the sun went down to view the thousands of birds flying through the twilight and also to watch the golden light on the cathedral, which is only a few tens of meters away. The apartment is close enough to the Alhambra that you could walk there, if you had a mind to. Note: there are some very steep sections on the walk there, so that would only be a recommendation for the reasonably fit traveler.
One item that is worth mentioning: there is construction going on right next to the apartment (as of Oct 2016). Because we were out and about during the day and not in the apartment, this was not a major issue for us. However, if you are accustomed to a siesta in the afternoon, it might be a concern. Of course, the construction may very well be completed by the time your read this, in which case the issue is moot.
Be that as it may, I can certainly recommend this apartment. Its central location makes it a great place to headquarter while you explore Grenada. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay in Jesus's apartment.
Location is fabulous! Rooftop terrace is amazing! Jesus communicated promptly with me throughout the process. The only improvement that I would recommend is perhaps a king bed, or at a minimum a firmer mattress. I would definitely rent again and not hesitate to recommend this apartment to friends.
My husband and I stayed in this Granada apartment for 3 nights in May 2016.
It is a lovely, light-filled 1 bedroom apartment on the top floor in central Granada and with the huge advantage of having a lift.
The apartment is very comfortable for holiday stays especially given it has a spacious roof terrace and is in a great location for exploring Granada: we would eat our breakfast and some dinners out on the terrace.
Jesus was very professional in all dealings with the booking, payment and arrival process which was a great comfort. He also alerted me to the need for booking the Alhambra well in advance which was a very useful tip. I would strongly recommend making this Alhambra visit and book a guided tour with at least 6 weeks notice if possible.
The kitchen was a decent size and the laundry facilities were great with clothes drying quickly on the balcony clothes line which was a huge bonus. Also, the bathroom was a good size with a lovely large shower.
The huge bonus here though was the lovely amount of light that flowed into the apartment and it's great location. The apartment is right beside the Cathedral and near lots of lovely little Plazas each with great cafes, markets, restaurants and shops and, although you only needed to step just out the door to reach all of these, the apartment was very quiet at night for sleeping thereby offering the best of both worlds!
My husband and I did a few of guided walking tours whilst in Granada and I'd highly recommend this to anyone visiting the area: an Alhambra visit, a general Granada walking tour and a Flamenco visit. We took the audio-guide option for Cathedral and did this ourselves which I think is sufficient.
We absolutely loved Granada and would stay at this great value apartment again if we were ever lucky enough to return.
The only reason for not giving this apartment a 5 star rating is that there isn't a dishwasher and there were mixed offerings of plates and glasses but no typical wine glasses. These are minor things though and wouldn't stop me from staying here again.
Location is perfect for shopping and to go out for 'tapas'. Tapas is food they serve with your drinks and it is completely free. It is a 5 minute walk from the nearest bus stop and from the main historical buildings (La Catedral, La Capilla Real, La Madraza, La Alhambra, Hospital/Iglesia de San Juan de Dios, Monasterio de San Jerónimo etc.) La Alpujarra is a area of villages 60km away Granada, made famous by books such as 'South from Granada' (Gerald Brenan) or recently 'Driving over Lemons'.
