My wife, two young children and I had a phenomenal weekend stay here. Terrific peaceful property - morning coffee on the deck overlooking the lake, napping in the hammock, kayaking, jumping in a leaf pile, reading on the dock as the sun set ... and all that's just on the outside. The cottage is great, with a full kitchen, bedroom, pull-out couch and cot, music, movies, etc. Lee and Elizabeth that own the property were so friendly and accommodating, we can't wait to come back for a longer stay! Highly recommended.
We loved our stay in this cottage. The lake is absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed sitting on the docking, sipping wine while the sun set.
This was a great location for short drives to Hyde Park and FDR’s house, Woodstock and the quaint restaurants in Millbrook.
The cottage is very roomy with a great deck overlooking the lake. It’s 90 miles from NYC and was a perfect place to meet our kids who live there. We can’t wait to go back.
My husband and I stayed at this cabin for a week in late August. The lake is very nice. The cabin is adequate. It was dated and dirty. There are a few things that are in disrepair. Like the steps up to the cabin, which are crumbling. At the concrete landing, there was a mat put over a hole in the landing. I stepped in it and almost twisted my ankle. The steps to the fire pit area are in even poorer shape. We noticed a lot of cobwebs and a good amount of dust on fans. There is even mold growing on a print in the bathroom. I think the property is a little overpriced for the condition of the property. There is a boat, canoe and kayak available for use. However, they too, are in bad shape. The oar locks were either broken or missing on the boat. The canoe seats are bowing terribly. The dock that is available is in bad disrepair with splintered wood decking, which is unsafe. The wood furniture on the deck is falling apart. The pluses were that our dog loved it. The lake is beautiful. We were able to use the cabin, but had to be careful about where we stepped and were extra careful in using anything for fear we would break it. I hope that the owners will fix the items that may be unsafe for their guests.
We spent an absolutely delightful three days at this gorgeous little cottage, with our infant son. Elizabeth and Lee could not have been nicer, they made us feel more like old friends than complete strangers! The cottage is beautifully decorated and sits right on a picturesque little lake. We sat on the peaceful deck every morning with our coffee, and once we were lucky enough to see a swan flying low over the lake through the mist! The kitchen is tiny and adorable and very well equipped, we cooked every meal inside and ate outside, taking in the beautiful view. During the day we explored the many state parks in the area, as well as the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome - the air show was quite a treat! And in the evenings, home-bound with a baby, we sat outside by the firepit with a glass of wine. It was a perfect weekend and I can't thank Elizabeth and Lee enough for opening their little cottage for us to enjoy. Thank you! I hope we have the chance to return some day!
We stayed for four nights over Thanksgiving weekend and could not be more pleased. The cottage interior is more charming and comfortable than the photos indicate. It was cold outside so we couldn't use the amazing deck overlooking the lake, but the cottage interior is bathed in the most beautiful light, so that you feel a real connection with the outdoors. It has a good heating system so we stayed toasty even with outside temps below freezing. The property owners have a home on the property and were onsite but respected our privacy. We were especially happy to find a property that not only welcomes, but embraces dogs. There was even a little basket of dog toys tucked in the corner. Having said that, the cottage was immaculate and would be fine even if you are not a dog owner. In it's current setup, it is ideal for a couple. The galley kitchen is small but we found everything we needed to do a Thanksgiving dinner for two. Many thanks!
