Villa Persephone is set amid pine trees in the upmarket area of S'Atalaya, adjoining Binibeca, a short walk from the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean - an ideal family location but close to all amenities. It is located in a quiet residential street, with landscaped garden and private pool. There are distant sea views, and shops, restaurants and bars are a 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive away.
The villa is furnished to a very high standard, with fully-fitted kitchen, dishwasher and outside BBQ. The four bedrooms each have fitted wardrobes, 2 have en suites plus an additional family bathroom. Each bedroom has air-conditioning, while the lounge has a wood burning stove, making it suitable for use year-round. The lounge opens on to a large terrace with hardwood table and chairs, perfect for dining and enjoying the beautiful sunsets. The pool measures 8x4m and is surrounded by a sunbathing terrace with comfortable loungers. For those preferring shade there are plenty of pine trees to allow you to cool off.
I live with my husband and 4 daughters in Northampton, England. I have a small vintage business, look after our holiday cottages in Cornwall and our villa in Menorca and do a bit of writing and PR. We first went to Menorca when my eldest was 1 - she is now 21!
Diana Harris purchased this villa in 1999
We fell in love with Menorca on our first visit. Binibeca is a beautiful part of the island and in the late 1990s we decided to buy a plot and build a second home in collaboration with my in-laws. Villa Persephone was completed in 1999. It offers a tranquil retreat for our family and we hope our guests enjoy staying there too. The name was chosen from the Greek myth about Persephone, which symbolises the budding and dying of nature.
For me, the first day of my holiday at Villa Persephone is really special. As the sun comes through the blinds you can look out and savour the colours of the garden. Then it's either a walk down to Cala Torret to buy bread and back in time for a leisurely breakfast or, if I'm feeling energetic, a run along the coast!
Thanks for all your help with our holiday we had an amazing time, what a lovely place Binebeca is!
Villa Persephone, we love you and will come back!
Five stars is not enought for rating this lovely villa.
From the first contact with Diana, the owner, everything went smooth, the villa is indeed wellequipped, a short walk from the village and beach.
We were four adults and two children so we decided to rent two small cars(Victoria cars) one fixed price nothing added, we drove around the island, discovered beaches and villages.
Our topbeach apart from the Binibeca playa was Es Grau, shallow water and a very nice village.
Back to the villa, the POOL, we all spend hours in it, surrounded by pinetrees we had both sun and shade, twice a week a poolman came to clean so the water was indeed very fresh.
We cooked meals in the house, the kitchen contained everything, we sat on the terraze overlooking the garden and pool after dinner we turned on the poollight and went for another swim above us the stars, magical!
The only thing we missed was a clear writing on the subject WiFi, it is not included in the rent but can be added(some 50 euro/week) by phoning the local caretaker, it took us a day to find this out but then we were connected with a very fast router.

As a family with 2 small children we had a wonderful stay at Villa Persephone. The villa is clean, spacious and well-equipped. The covered terrace is ideal for outdoor dining and pine trees provide plenty of shade in the garden. The pool was nice and clean and the outdoor shower ideal for rinsing off on return from the beach.
The villa is a short drive from the aiport and is set in a lovely quiet residential street yet is still an easy walk to shops, restaurants and the beach. The beach in Binibeca is great, especially for small children.
Diana was very helpful in answering our questions ahead of our visit as well as arranging extra things such as a cot. Thanks Diana!
We would definitely recommend this villa to a family looking for a relaxing, comfortable stay in an excellent little resort. We would love to return in the future!
We had a fantastic two week stay in Villa Persephone this September. It is conveniently located, with a 15 minute walk from a beautiful beach with a great beach bar which we visited most days (the beach is perfect for young children as the sea is very shallow). The villa is also close to some great restaurants and shops with everything you need. Mayo which is lots of fun is a short drive. It also has a great fish market open most days. The villa is spacious and clean and the veranda is perfect for a barbecue. The large garden and clean pool mean that if you don't want to go to the beach or drive anyway you can spend a day in the villa and totally relax. If you are looking for a family villa close to the beach, close to great food and with access to a bit of nightlife we'd highly recommend this villa. It helped make a fantastic holiday!
We had the most relaxed holiday in Villa Persephone. What a beautiful villa and gardens. The setting in perfect, pine trees surrounding the property provide wonderful shade and the scent of the pine in the warm air is an instant stress buster. The villa itself is a great layout, plenty of space for 8 people to have comfort and privacy. The style of the villa is classic with lots of natural light and a neutral finish which blends beautiful with the surroundings. The property was spotless and very well equipt which made settling in easy. The directions to the property and all the information needed to make the stay hassle free, were easy to follow and very user friendly. The beds were comfortable, the showers hot and powerful, and the kitchen was well supplied. The garden and swimming pool were an absolute joy, we had to really force ourselves to get out and about. But it was well worth the effort. The local village, just a 10 min walk has a lovely bakery and number of small and very laid back restaurants. It didn't feel touristy at all, just very chilled out. We hired a car which was great as driving around is so easy. But a stay without a car would be feasible too. Diana, the owner, could not have more accommodating. We had family staying elsewhere who came to visit us in the villa and said that they had never seen us all so relaxed! We only went for a week this year, aiming to book for 2 next year. I have 2 teenage children and they can't wait to go back, absolute sanctuary!
We stayed at the Villa at the end of August. The location is brilliant, middle of nowhere with the only sound being the birds and the wind - you really do need a car if you are going to explore the island. We did not hire a car and chose to walk in and out of town and used the buses when needed (so cheap!) - if you do this i strongly recommend packing a torch to walk up the very steep unlit steps on the way back. The supermarket in Cala Torret delivers, and if you are lucky you will get a lift back with the shopping. The Villa itself is set in mature grounds - we found the villa not as luxury has we had expected. The pool area had obviously not been cleaned prior to our arrival as there were crumbs and a good coating of Pine Needles around and in the pool (the villa is surrounded by pine trees that keep you private). There is no proper functioning roof top terrace, as stated in the overview, there are steps at the side of the villa that led up to a loft entrance and the air conditioning unit there is no room for chairs and table. There were a number of things that were not up to standard, the BBQ was rusted and any coals lite in it would have fallen out of the bottom. The lamps in all the bedrooms had burn marks from the bulbs. The middle bathroom leaked from the tap behind the toilet and caused the floor to be slippery – there are 2 other bathrooms to choose from. The bedrooms were dusty and there was a hole in the ceiling in the living area where rain had go in and left a damp stain on the wall. Kind of think the villa is a little less loved towards the end of the season - which is also the most expensive time. Owner was also a little slow in responding to emails and after taking our final payment i had to chase up for confirmation of when keys would be sent. On the whole - Location Great, Villa good but was not luxury as stated
We had a lovely holiday at Villa Persephone. The villa was everything we had hoped for, very spacious, clean, lovely mature garden with pool, with plenty of sunny and shady spots. The large terrace was well used, with evenings spent dining, playing games and watching the sunsets. The added bonus of UK sky channels meant we could watch Wimbledon and our favourite tv and radio programmes! The lounge had very comfortable seating, bedrooms all had air con and the kitchen was well equipped.
We were a family of five (3 teenagers). This was our fourth time in Menorca. We have stayed in this area of the island three times, finding it convenient to travel to all our favourite beaches (cal ' en Porter, Cala Mitjana and Santa Thomas) It is also situated only minutes from the airport.
We contacted the villa services twice during our stay (minor things) and found them to be very friendly and prompt in their response. We dined out only twice, once at the local Italian restaurant (Villa Madrid?), the food was fantastic!
The owner Diane was very helpful with any queries we had prior to our holiday.
We would recommend this villa to anyone wanting a comfortable, peaceful and relaxing holiday on this beautiful island.
Menorca is a popular destination, thanks to its secluded bays, whitewashed fishing villages, water sports and unspoilt charm. Its capital Mahon, or Mao, boasts the second largest natural harbour in the world after Pearl Harbour, and plays host to an array of breathtaking boats. The island has numerous safe sandy beaches, ideal for families, and secluded coves for intrepid travellers to explore. Restaurants are numerous and varied, both in Mahon and in and around Binebeca, with the waterside eateries and market stalls of Es Castell (Calas Fonts) a particular draw. Mahon is a bustling shopping centre, but visitors can also enjoy leather markets selling famous Menorca sandals, the gin factory, equine trotting races near San Lluis, the wetlands of S'Albufera des Grau and numerous archaeological monuments. At the other end of the island is Cuitadella, Menorca's medieval capital
Binibeca is in the Golden Triangle of Menorca away from busy hotels yet only 15 minutes drive from the port side restaurants of Mahon and Es Castell.
The resort of is made up of two separate areas; Binibeca Vell, which features Poblat de Pescadors, designed by the famous Catalan architect, Antonio Sintes, in the 70’s to look like a genuine old Mediterranean fishing village with a maze of narrow alleys, Moorish arches, whitewashed houses with sun-soaked patios, tiny courtyards and a little harbour. It’s a quaint, quiet and laid-back place with restaurants, bars, shops and squash courts. In contrast, Binibeca Nou has a gorgeous, child-friendly beach with golden sand, ideal for sunbathing, watching the yachts come in or having a drink in the lovely beach bar.
