Set back from a central London street, inside this large, high ceiling three bedroom house offers calm and quiet, yet is only seconds walk from the bustling restaurants, bars, shops and cinemas of the trendy ¨Beach¨ area of the Fulham Road. It is also just minutes walk away from the Kings Road and River Thames and the amenities and museums of South Kensington. This Victorian house has recently been extensively modernized, opening up walls to make the rooms large, bright and airy and decorated by an interior designer to offer modern furnishings and original artwork whilst retaining its original charm. Spread over the four floors are a modern kitchen with large dining area, a double living room with several sofas, flat screen TV, DVD etc, a large master bedroom with luxury ensuite bathroom, two further double bedrooms and a further bathroom. The house has its own, totally secluded, 50 foot garden at the rear as well as off street parking to the front.

Comfortably homely - lovely taste !

I stayed one week with my family (3 kids aged 13, 11 and 8) and we just loved it. It is conveniently located to ride buses to key London sites, roomy for everyone to enjoy a solitary break at the end of the day. Convenience stores and shopping experience are a stone's throw away.

The landlords have magnificently decorated the house, cosy, homely, fully-equipped for sel-catering and indulgence.

A Must !!

Roomy, perfectly located place with a few things to take note of in advance

This property was very nice, clean, well maintained and Martine was very responsive. It was also in a great location. However, I would give this 3.5 stars however based on other stays. We had a full house (6 family members) and a few things we wish we would have known before we booked: 1) There is only 1 proper shower, 2) internet/wireless doesn't work well beyond the kitchen and main level and 3) there isn't enough hot water for everyone to get ready at the same time in the morning.

The above is just so you are informed before arriving. The place is very nice and in a great location. I would stay there again, but with less people.

Owner's Response: Comments noted although we have reasons to believe this guest have exceeded the maximum permitted capacity of the house.. It comfortably sleeps up to 6 people. There is a master bathroom with bath and shower and another bathroom with bath/shower in bathtub and another separate toilet with sink.. We are revising the internet service with the provider as we believe something may have occurred during this stay - no faults having been raised by other tenants prior to this.

Ma famille et moi même (4 adultes et 2 ados) avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour dans la maison de Martine. Très bien située, nous étions rapidement dans le centre de Londres pour des journées riches en visites grâce aux transports en communs très proches.

Lovely home in vibrant part of Chelsea

As a family of 4 with two teenagers, we had a wonderful week at Martine's stylish, luxurious home. The master bedroom was very spacious with a modern bathroom and having another bathroom on the upper level, with two further bedrooms, gave us all plenty of space and comfort.

The kitchen is very well equipped and we particularly enjoyed making espressos each morning.

Martine's home is very tastefully decorated, filled with art and books and has a lovely garden at the back and the benefit of a parking space at the front of the house.

It is in a great neighbourhood, with the convenience of a grocery store across the street and many great restaurants a short walk away. You can explore a lot of foot - we enjoyed the gothic tranquility of Brompton cemetery, strolling and shopping the length of the Kings Road from Vivienne Westwood to Zara and the Saatchi gallery. The gardens of Kensington palace and of course the amazing museums on the Cromwell Road. The tube stations are a 15 minute walk away for exploring the rest of London.

Although we did not meet Martine in person, we found her very gracious, helpful and accommodating in her communication.

Thank you again for letting us 'borrow' your lovely home!

Fantastic home

Great find! This lovely home is an easy ten minute walk from the Earl's Court tube station through a beautiful neighborhood. A slightly longer walk will get you to the South Kensington tube station. Our family (including grandparents and children, ages 8 and 10) walked to Hyde Park and Battersea Park easily from the home as well. There were plenty of restaurants and a variety of specialty food stores to choose from within a few blocks of the house. The home is spread out over four floors so that our family of six had plenty of room. The lowest level had the most well appointed kitchen I have ever seen in a rental. We cooked Christmas dinner there and had all the pans, dishes, utensils and space we needed. There is comfortable seating for six at the table. Outside the kitchen is a well-sized enclosed garden area. We were not there in the correct season to take advantage of the garden, but it would be a lovely place to eat or for children to play. The main floor has a gas fireplace and plenty of space to read or watch TV. The third level has a large master suite with king-sized bed and a large and beautiful master bath. The top level has another full bathroom (tub, no shower) and two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two twin beds. The home was exceptionally clean and the owner extraordinarily helpful from the moment of our first inquiry to after we left. She went out of her way to make sure our stay was comfortable. I would definitely recommend this home to others and hope to be lucky enough to visit again.

Artfully decorated in prime location

Our family of six (parents and two grown sons with their wives) stayed in the apartment for 10 days in September. The house is very beautifully decorated with excellent original artwork and fine furnishings. We found it to be immaculately clean and well-equipped for any need. The private back garden was a plus. Located on several bus lines and a 15 minute walk to the Earl's Court Underground station, it was very handy to get to all parts of the city as well as Heathrow. Everything worked well, although we had some issues with hot water (lots of showers for 6 people!).

The description was accurate in describing the property. Martine was very helpful in helping me finalize the booking and provided detailed information on access, wifi, security system requirements, utilities, etc. once we arrived.

We didn't find the location unusually noisy as some reviewers have commented--it is a city after all! Very well located for cafes, pubs, etc.

We would recommend this home to those who appreciate a high standard of decor and who are respectful of the owner's concerns about maintaining it in pristine shape. As there are a number of personal items in the house, there are specific requests to not touch certain fragile items--conditions which might not be practical for all visitors, especially those with small children. On the other hand, the personal nature of this apartment and its contents, makes it very attractive. Thanks, Martine.

The house is within walking distance of London's famous museums (Victoria & Albert, Science Museum, Natural History) and is conveniently situated for transport facilities (the metro stations of Earls Court, South Kensington and Fulham Broadway are roughly equi-distant, buses right into the centre run every 10 minutes from outside the house (20mins to Piccadilly Circus or Victoria). The famous 'Easybus' brings you directly from Gatwick Airport in about one hour to Fulham Broadway. There are several 24 hour supermarkets within minutes walk from the house. 20 minutes walk (5 mins jog) to Battersea Park and Cheyne Walk along the River Thames.
