The Ivy Cottage is our smallest and most affordable cabin. This 450 square foot two-story log cabin makes no concessions when it comes to comfortable furnishings and charm. It's got everything you need. This cabin is very popular with business travelers, couples, and small families. The downstairs bedroom has a double bed with a 19 inch flat screen TV, DVD player, and movie collection. Additional sleeping is available on two twin beds located in the loft, which is accessed by a ' ship's ladder '. The living room is small but is made very comfortable with 2 wing-back chairs, and one has an ottoman.
The kitchen has a table for two, stove/oven, single basin sink, toaster, microwave oven, coffee maker, and a small refrigerator that fits underneath the kitchen counter. The bathroom has a full size shower/tub combination with jacuzzi jets and a single basin sink. We believe that you will find the furnishings very pleasing right down to the hand carved kissing squirrels.
While cozy on the inside, a large deck wraps around two sides of the cabin and provides additional 'outdoor living space'. Just outside of your bedroom door you'll hear the sounds of the creek tumbling by on it's way to the Ocoee River. The deck features reclined bench seating positioned around a patio fireplace, and a table with 4 chairs for outdoor dining. Across the gravel driveway you'll see multiple flower gardens, a nice grassy field for sports, horse shoe pit, basketball court, and a creek for exploring.
It is about a 1 minute walk down to our riverside pavilion and swimming/fishing dock. Wildlife commonly seen are Great Blue Herons, Kingfishers, wild ducks, bald eagles, river otters, and of course fish. We even saw a deer once swimming in the river!
We have been offering Ivy Cottage for nightly rentals for 20 years with plenty of repeat customers. Some of our previous guests comments for Ivy Cottage include 'One of the most beautiful peaceful places that we have ever been to...', 'This was one of the many great surprises my husband has given me over the years...', 'We had such a great time on our honeymoon! The Ivy Cottage cabin, fireplace, and atmosphere was an added touch to a stress free vacation. We can't wait to come back...', 'absolutely incredible! I was taken aback with the beauty and atmosphere of this cabin!', 'Total perfection in a small package'.
We are Kevin and Jenny Rogers. We are both Tennessee natives and graduates of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. We have a 18 year old son, two dogs, and two cats. We love the outdoors and have enjoyed sharing our beautiful Ivy Cottage cabin with guests for the past 20 years.
This place was originally built as a riverside retreat by Jenny's late mother Warnie Elizabeth Dooly Finnell. She lived and worked in Cleveland, and came here to rest and play.
Jenny or Kevin purchased this cabin in 1994
Cleveland is convenient to the beautiful Ocoee Region which is a great place to visit. The Cherokee National Forest is just 10 minutes away where we enjoy kayaking, hiking, backpacking, swimming, and mountain biking. We enjoy floating from the Ocoee Dam to our property in the summer. When we feel like a little city life we travel about 40 minutes to Chattanooga where we can enjoy shopping, great restaurants, the TN Aquarium, music and art festivals, University of Tennessee events, minor league baseball games, scenic river cruises, and so much more. Also, Lee University is just 20 minutes away in Cleveland and hosts numerous cultural and sporting events.
The best thing about Ivy Cottage is that it so dang cute. Round logs, exposed rafters, unique construction, a 'ships ladder' to the loft where 2 twin beds are built into the sloping roof, wide plank floors, and tastefully decorated, and that's just the inside. Step out of the master bedroom onto a deck full of amenities, and the sounds of a creek tumbling by below. Some of our guests enjoy the simple beauty of their cabin and surroundings, rarely leaving our property. Have a campfire on the patio, read, tell stories or just listen to the night sounds. We have 17 wooded acres where you can take a stroll, cast a line for trout or bass, turn over rocks in the creek to find salamanders, take a swim in the river, or just watch it roll by from a dock chair. Ivy Cottage is just 20 minutes from Cleveland and perfect for those who don't want to stay in a hotel or hear 'city sounds' in the evening. There is absolutely no comparison! Check us out. I like going to the 'Big' city of Cleveland, but I'd rather sleep here at Ivy Cottage.
The Ivy Cottage was the cutest little cabin with every amenity I could have hoped or dreamed for. I'm not a big fan of restaurants or eating out due to having an auto immune disorder that makes my diet restricted. This tiny kitchen still had ample storage and all kitchen equipment needed for me to make 3 wholesome meals a day on our 4 day stay(ribeyes, scallops, collard greens, hamburgers, pork chops, succotash). We did the Adventures unlimited white water rafting excursion with Tripp as our guide and will probably be back again, he was the best and it was an absolute blast only 10 minutes away. We also brought our own tubes and were able to have a relaxing afternoon of floating off the doc and lots of trail walking with Corkie and Lukie(dogs) the cutest little cottage welcoming crew. Kevin and Jenny were also able to recommend a great Spa(Bliss) for a couples massage on our last day, and they were spot on with service. We definitely enjoyed every part of our trip, and used every amenity provided even playing a little game of Horse at the basketball hoop and 1 round of horseshoes at dusk. TV and internet weren't needed for this stay, nothing but relaxing and enjoying your company. We'll definitely be back in the future, and may even send our parents for their anniversary.
What an exquisite retreat! We hated to leave. The Ivy Cottage is quite quaint, impeccable decorations, and every detail provided down to box of Kleenex and hairdryer. Adorable! Comfortable. The scenery in the area and the views make you speechless. So pleasant to be by the river; quite relaxing. The Rogers are very helpful in many areas; where to go, what to see, how to get there.....Can't wait to come back. Joyce
The Ivy House cottage really nice and very clean! It was perfect for the two of us but it will accommodate 4 people. As soon a we walk into the cabin the smell was wonderful, fresh, and did I mention very clean. We had everything we needed in the cabin for our 7 day visit. The cabins are close to all kinds of activities (white water rafting, tubing, kayaking, and more). We took several floats down the river and you could get out at the cabin facility dock. The grounds are beautifully maintained with fire pits and BBQ grills at every cabin. We loved our vacation at Welcome Valley Village. The owners are very nice and we would recommend this place to any of our family or friends. We will be going back in the future. Thank you Kevin and Jenny Rogers for making our vacation great!
This beautiful little cabin worked out perfectly for us. A nice place to relax in the woods. Unfortunately, we only stayed one night but I am already planning another visit as soon as I can. Just beautiful!
We needed a place to stay for one night near water. This place was beautiful and it had all the accommodations we needed. The bed was comfortable and the movie selection was good. I recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a nice getaway in the woods. The décor was very cozy
and there was plenty of room . The owners were very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. We will go back again one day.
We wanted somewhere to go & enjoy our 45th anniversary & found it. The "tiny house" size cabin in the woods was perfect! We took a walk on the grounds, cooked on the charcoal grill & had a wood fire on the porch (in the fire place) to relax, listen to oldies, & dance. The owners do a great job of having things ready to use in the cabin & are very welcoming. We looked at a larger cabin with the idea of having a weekend get away when our kids & grandkids visit, & like the idea.
Glider rides/instruction, tree-canopy ziplines, boat rentals on Lake Ocoee, wineries, scenic train rides, sporting clay shooting, and and one of the largest gun stores in the south.
