The Spordaes islands, that get their name from their sporadic or uneven distribution, are the perfect holiday destination. With yellow sands and crystalline blue water of the Aegean, deep green woods and vegetation, the mixture of peace and cosmopolitan entertainment makes for a glorious holiday. There are also spectacular sea caves to visit and you can bask in the glorious Aegean sunlight.
The island of Evia was once part of mainland Greece and is in fact the largest Greek island after Crete. It is a beautiful island to visit with some beautiful beaches and lush vegetation.
Their classic Greek architecture, natural beauty and good entertainment of these islands have been attracting tourists to these beauty spots for a while now, so that you never feel out of place.
Skiathos is a beautiful wooded island, which is lush and green, with beautiful beaches. There are many beaches that are not crowded, and some which are more or less empty, even in the high season. We would recommend a car or moped to find them, which we are more than happy to arrange for you. There are several offshore islands which are accessible by boat, and some beaches on the island itself which are only accessible by boat in secluded coves under spectacular cliffs. There is one town on the island, Skiathos Town, a thriving cosmopolitan town, where you can find all manner of nightlife; a slow drink in a taverrna, a bite to eat in a restaurant, or clubbing if that takes your fancy, but is easily avoided if it does not.
With its varied landscape, peace and quiet, sandy beaches, cosmopolitan centre, beautiful cuisine, and warm hearted, friendly people, Skiathos is the perfect holiday destination!
This was my partners first time to Skiathos, my third and couldn't wait to experience the outstanding hospitality. We weren't disappointed.
Nikos was there waiting for us to arrive, and was very friendly. Once shown around the villa, we swapped mobile numbers and he then left us to settle in.
The villa itself was very well equipped with all the essentials you might need including laundry facilities (front loading washing machine, iron & board, line, etc), fully equipped kitchen, Bedding (double was very comfortable!), Towels, pool towels, sun loungers.. the list goes on..
The most welcome though was the air conditioning!
The villa itself was very well presented and cleaned twice during our stay as was the very clean pool and Nikos was always available at a discreet distance. The nearest beach is at Troulos and is around a 15 minute walk.
The view from the balcony was amazing to wake up to every day during our stay. Try as I might, I couldn't find fault this villa, and if anyone is reading this and thinking of booking..
Do it now - you're mad if you dont!
Villa Leone was a fantastic base for our stay in Skiathos this year. It is five minutes walk from the road to Assillis beach and a short walk down a track to Toulos beach (or by the main road). We enjoyed the garden and terrace very much, they are very private. The owner, Nikos, is a very nice host, discreet and very helpful. The stay went along with no problems at all. All the contact went easily by email or sms, and he always kept his word.
It is easy to go from the villa by bus to the town or to the other beaches. If you want exercise, walk to the beaches on the other side (you find tavernas there as well).
Nearby (in 5-10 minutes walking distace) you will find many small popular tavernas and bars. Some are even open all day, and a few has Wi-Fi. If you are British and feel homesick, I recommend Christakis Sports Bar (you can see the terrace of the villa from there).
Just down the road there is a small super market, open all day and late in the evening, too.
We enjoyed our stay very much.
We stayed at Villa Leone July/Aug 2011 and had a fantastic time. The villa is lovely in a superb setting although the climb up to it was a little challenging for some but very good exercise.
The pool and garden are perfect with stunning views and very very private. The villa was very clean and spacious with air conditioning and plenty of room for 7 of us.
The villa is very well equipped with everything you need if you want to self cater. Tavernas and supermarkets very close by and the beach a 10-15 minute walk away but so worth it . There are watersports for the adventurous or just fabulous bathing for the less so.
The bus to Skiathos town runs every fifteen minutes from close by and I would recommend this holiday to anyone looking for relaxation, peace amd quiet in a wonderful little corner of the world.
Booked last minute, not disappointed.Excellent position -great views. Not too far away from the beach and taverna's.The local bus was a great way to get into skiathos town.
The facilities in the villa are ,but we ate out every night. There is a BBQ,fridge kettle electric cooker. We had lots of hot water.
Nikos was very helpfull and knowlegeable about the area.
He also has a little dog that is adorable
I would recommend this holiday Villa.
Villa Leone is a very attractive, well-maintained villa in a stunning position overlooking Troulos Bay and the island of Evia in the distance. It has a beautiful pool set in attractive and private grounds, and provided a fantastically peaceful base for our holiday.
In practical terms, it is a fairly steep five-minute walk down a concreted track to the nearest supermarket and a selection of bars and tavernas. The beach – where there are more tavernas – is around 15 minutes' walk away. There are plenty of beds in the villa and generously proportioned and stylish living quarters; however the main double bedroom is divided from the first-floor living room only by a curtain, so for privacy opt for the two twin-bedded rooms downstairs. The large first-floor terrace spanning two sides of the house is ideal for eating, sunbathing and relaxing and has magnificent views on all sides.
All the facilities described were provided and were mostly excellent, apart from the bobbly (well-worn) sheets which could do with being replaced. The linen was changed, pool cleaned and garden tidied during our stay, and the owner remained a discreet but reachable presence, urging us to text him if we needed anything but otherwise not disturbing us. He kindly phoned for a taxi on our last day to take us to the airport.
We travelled right at the end of the season, so many of the tavernas were closing up, and the local supermarket also pulled down the shutters during our stay. So if you want the best choice of restaurants and bars and a lively holiday, don't go right at the end of September! Good restaurants are the Troulos Taverna, beautifully positioned on the beach, Captain Nikos's - towards the junction with the main road, and the little taverna right opposite the bottom of the track from the villa, next to the Victoria supermarket. All these were still open when we left on 5 October.
Skiathos is a beautiful island with fabulous beaches; Troulos is one of the most attractive of those. If you are looking for a relaxing and utterly peaceful base, then Villa Leone is ideal.
It is just 250 metres from Troulos shops and tavernas, 400 from the main road and bus stop and a 15 minute stroll to Troulos Beach.Other beaches easily accessed are Koukounaries, Banana, Platanias (Aghia Paraskevi) and the beaches on the Mandraki Peninsular.
