About Vicki Sewell

My roots are deep in Tennessee. I was born a little more than a mile from this cabin and family members have lived in the area for over a 100 years. As a child, I spent all my summers and school vacations just 'up the road' at my grandparents' home; one day hoping to own my own 'Pea Ridge' piece of dirt!

While we currently live outside Atlanta, my husband and I bought the cabin in hopes that our children and friends will gather there with us for years to come.

Now we are opening it up to you, so that you can have the same 'state of mind' we enjoy each and every time we come home to Tennessee.

Vicki Sewell purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Vicki Sewell chose Tennessee

When you arrive at the cabin, the stress of the 'outside world' will evaporate. It's a place where you can ask a stranger for help or directions and they will not hesitate. Most people in the area still like to visit to sit and 'talk a spell.' Once you experience Dale Hollow, you will most likely be back.

What makes this cabin unique

You can hear wild turkey calling from deep in the woods while having your morning coffee on the back porch. Just having a respite from the hectic work schedule will make all the great difference toward a well balanced life.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I just wanted to thank u for everything you did for us last week, we really appreciated it. Despite the bad luck turkey hunting we did in fact have fun and enjoyed your place. Its very nice. We plan on watching the weather closer next year, and returning for revenge on the wild turkey!

Father - Son Fishing trip

  • 5 of 5

The Big Fish was great... It had everything we needed to have a wonderful father son fishing trip. The fish didn't cooperate but we had a great time anyway. The Owner was extremely easy to work with and answered our emails in a very timely manner.. It slept 6 of us very comfortably and we will definitely be back! The kitchen and great room are adjoining so it gave us a great place to play games and watch TV at same time... The heat worked well in all rooms as it was 17 degrees outside on this particular stay and we all stayed warm.

Thank you for having us!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We hope you give the Dale Hollow fish another chance! 17 degrees is an anomaly even for the fish? We hope to see you next trip! Regards Vicki

Peaceful getaway

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Big Fish. It was very close to the Holly Creek marina, where we chose to spend most of our weekend. We rented a pontoon boat and spent a beautiful day cruising Dale Hollow Lake and fishing. The house was very quiet and peaceful with a huge back porch overlooking a wooded area. As it was the end of the season, there were not many restaurants open in the area, but we brought our own supplies. The kitchen and grill were clean, and we made use of both. We plan to be back some day.

Very Good

  • 5 of 5

We love staying at the Big Fish we have stayed there several times in the past. The only thing wrong with this place is it has become popular and is now a little more difficult to book when you want. It is always clean and everything is in good working order love the new grill it worked great every night we used it. We try to stay there at least once or twice a year.

Nice location

  • 4 of 5

We had a nice stay. The home was just up the hill from Holly creek and that's what we were looking for. The 3bed/2bath was big enough for our group at a fair price. I was disappointed when I tried to inform the owner one of the beds we stayed in was sort of falling apart and had a crack in it. When I told her so I felt like she didn't believe me Bc she said- that's interesting because her cleaning lady did not tell her that prior to our visit. Just got the impression she didn't believe me and it rubbed me wrong. Regardless. Nice place to stay around Celina
