Create a memory of your stay in Amsterdam aboard The Prinsenboat that you will always treasure.
We take pride in offering you a residence that is warm, inviting, and comfortable. From the first day of your arrival at The Prinsenboat to your last day with us, we will do our utmost to ensure that your experience is all that you wanted. We can make arrangements for taxi service, offer suggestions on activities or book a private chef for your dining pleasure on board.
If you’re celebrating an event, such as a birthday, anniversary or reunion, let us help you make it a unique experience. You will immediately notice the difference between The Prinsenboat and an Amsterdam hotel.
Children enjoy The Prinsenboat as much as or even more than adults. They love the small boats passing by and are thrilled by the life on the water. Also your very little ones are on our minds; we can provide a baby cot.
Be sure to ask for our special family prices.
The Prinsenboat is a B&B which offers all of the conveniences that you would expect: central heating, full galley, cable and stereo, unlimited free internet access with your devise and an oversized shower.
At the same time you have a beautiful water-level view of the historical 17th century Prinsengracht.
The Prinsenboat is perfectly located; all major sites of the city centre are within a 15-minute walk.
And then at the end of the day come home and enjoy the serenity of your private home on the water, enjoy a complimentary bottle of wine, and watch the swans and ducks float by outside your window.
Welcome to The Prinsenboat.
Just a note to say thank you very much for being so welcoming and to say how much we enjoyed our stay on the houseboat. I'm afraid I didn't get round to writing anything in the book, but feel free to copy and paste any of this email into your visitor book.
The kids (as other children before them) really enjoyed feeding the ducks, coots and swans. For other families visiting, we went to both Artis (the zoo) and Nemo and both went down really well with our 7 and 9 year old kids. I was glad we had booked tickets online for the Anne Frank House as that avoided a queue and it was great to visit the Van Gogh museum on a Friday as it is open till 22.00 and meant we could be there pretty much as long as we wanted.
Although we ate out - the kids enjoyed the Italian place nearby - we couldn't persuade them to Thai food, so we fed them something they wanted at the Van gogh museum and later on John and I got a takeaway from the Thai place just up the road which meant we could eat spicey food without having the kids complaining.
We immediately fell in love with the Prinsenboat due to its lovely charm and perfect location. It was quite clean. The owner Peter met us when we checked in and was very helpful and accommodating to our early check-in arrival. The boat has everything one needs to be warm, clean and comfortable. The shower had good hot water, and the kitchen has everything one needs to prepare a meal. The bed is large and very comfortable. In addition, the location was brilliant; right on the Prinsengracht, and also on a street that had lots of great little restaurants and shops and also nearby the Rembrandtplein. We would definitely return, and also would highly recommend the houseboat to couples, perhaps with a child, or singles on a getaway.
I stayed here with my husband for three nights to kick off our honeymoon in July, and we had a ball! The location can't be beat - in a beautiful, quiet residential area away from the loud tourist hordes, our temporary home was an oasis for us. It was the perfect size for a couple, we had everything we needed to be comfortable, and we loved spending our evenings watching the boats slide by in the canal and feeding the ducks and a swan that swam by our open windows. We also loved the funky decor - totally our style! The owner, Peter, was nice, and I'm glad that we asked him to pick us up at the airport. If you know Amsterdam very well, then the place is easy to access via tram from the Central Station. However, we had just arrived from a trans-Atlantic flight, were very jet-lagged, and I had last been in Amsterdam in 2004. SO, having Peter pick us up and take us directly to the house was perfect (I don't think we could have found it on our own otherwise).
If you're looking for a typical touristy, Ritz-Carlton experience, this is not the place for you. However, if you're open to a unique, funky, and fun experience when visiting Amsterdam, check out the Prinsen Boat house! We hope to stay there again on our next trip to Amsterdam!
My wife and I stayed here with our thirteen year-old grandson for three nights. It was a terrific experience and a wonderful place to stay - especially if you're open to a bit of adventure. Who wants to stay in an expensive and routine hotel room when you can reside on one of Amsterdam's historic canals? This place is very clean, quiet, safe, and convenient to walking to Amsterdam's great sites. We especially liked dining at the kitchen table while watching and waving at the innumerable tour boats that glided silently past.
It's a bit intimate-- but what European accommodation isn't? Warning : if you're used to staying at Claridges in London or George V in Paris, this is not for you).
The owner is very accommodating, friendly and helpful. We recommend this place wholeheartedly.
The location, is first class
A home away from home rather than a sterile hotel room so very cosy and comfortable. Quick to warm up in an evening and all we needed for a short stay in a wonderful city
Absolutely loved my stay at the prinsengracht. The gentleman which owes the boat is very nice and flexible, the boat was very clean and decorated beautifully. Beds very comfortable and the places warms up very quickly which I loved as I'm always cold!! The area around the prinsengracht is lovely quite quiet but the local bars and restaraunts are lovely! They sell very strong beer so beware! It's about a 20-30 minute walk from the centre and 45 minutes to the red light, but the trams are very reliable and very close.
All in all I would definitely go and stay again!
Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable!
My partner and I wanted to have a romantic weekend away to help soften the January blues and staying in The Prinsenboat did just that. We had such a lovely stay and The Prinsenboat is the perfect place to relax and enjoy what Amsterdam has to offer. It was wonderfully warm inside and we had everything we needed from clean towels to a hob to cook some food when we wanted. The bed was fabulous, so big with wonderful views out onto the canal. Many happy memories made and we will certainly be coming back again! Thank you Prinsenboat!
