About the property

Character 2 bedroom holiday cottage. 1 king + 1 twin. No Smoking

Cove Cottage is a converted barn which is located very close to the sea at Budle Bay in the small hamlet of Waren Mill. It is part of a group of 4 properties set around a shared courtyard called Smugglers Court. It has a quiet outdoor seating area with table and chairs, which is a suntrap and ideal for enjoying the sunshine.

The cottage is furnished and equipped to the same level as our own home, so you can be assured of cleanliness and comfort. Relax on our comfortable M&S sofas, John Lewis beds and enjoy the plentiful fluffy towels and crisp white hotel quality cotton bedding.

On the first floor is the open plan kitchen/ dining area with fully fitted oak kitchen with Bosch electric fan oven and grill, induction hob, extractor, microwave, toaster and dishwasher and fully equipped with everything you need. There is an oak dining table with seating for four.

The lounge area has original oak beams, two sofas and traditional pieces of oak furniture. For the cooler days there is a cast iron log burner-style electric fire. Radiators in all rooms provide a cosy environment, no matter what the weather.

There is a well-stocked bookcase and a good selection of DVDs and CDs for you

to enjoy on your holiday. The cottage has a flat screen freeview TV + DVD player. We also have a Sony Play Station PS3 games console, complete with a selection

of games and multiple controllers.

On the ground floor there are two bedrooms, one with twin single beds and one with a comfortable king size bed. Both bedrooms have plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. There is a hairdryer and bedside lamps in each bedroom. Also

on the ground floor is the family bathroom, complete with bath and over-bath 10kW electric shower.

There is WiFi at the cottage and we have provided our guests with a landline

phone with honesty box, as mobile signal can be variable on some networks.

There is off-road parking for one car in the courtyard down the side of the cottage, with further parking for additional cars available outside the courtyard.

If you want to experience the stunning beauty of this area whilst enjoying the quietness and comfort of Cove Cottage, then this is the place for you.

Northumberland still remains one of the best undiscovered places of natural beauty in the UK, steeped in history with many wonderful castles and historic houses, Hadrians Wall and the wild Cheviot Hills to name but a few. Boat trips

leave Seahouses daily for the Farne Islands, weather permitting.

Below we have listed a little of what's on offer in the Northumberland area:

Walk from the cottage across the road to Budle Bay, which is part of the Lindisfarne nature reserve. This is a very popular bird watching spot and it is right on your doorstep. The lovely village of Bamburgh is only 2 miles and there are various public footpath routes with stunning coastal and inland views. We are also just a few miles by car to Holy Island, Alnwick Castle, Berwick-upon-Tweed and many other beautiful spots along this lovely coastline.

About Clare Green

We have owned Cove Cottage since March 2016 and we want you to have a wonderful holiday in our lovely cottage, which we also use for our own little bit of heaven next to the sea. We consider the cottage to be an extension of our own home, so the furnishings and equipment are of a higher standard than you usually find in a holiday home. Our aim is to make your visit as comfortable as possible and hopefully you will leave feeling you have had value for the money you have spent. We get great pleasure from the comments in our visitors book from satisfied guests.

Clare Green purchased this cottage in 2016

Why Clare Green chose Northumberland

Cove Cottage will be our dream retirement home, but until then we are very happy to share it with you for your own holidays. It is just a short walk across the road to Budle Bay, which is the start of a picturesque beach walk to Bamburgh. Waren Mill is a quiet secluded little hamlet, perfect for getting away from it all.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is in the most scenic area of the Northumberland coast, you won't find a better area as a holiday base, we have so many comments from guests saying a week is not enough, many return on a regular basis each year. Not only do you have the immediate area but for miles around in all directions, beauty and history is everywhere.

Guestbook comments from the manager

What a fantastic cottage!! And so relaxing, we have stayed in some beautiful cottages up and down the country but this beats them all forcomfort, peaceful surroundings and being very well equipped. The area is beautiful and the people are so friendly and welcoming. We packed just about everything into our holiday but will be back to do it all over again, thank you so very much, Jan & Ross LEEDS

Checked out the beaches (awesome) and the local town of Bamburgh. Great butchers there.

Very comfortable, well equipped cottage

  • 4 of 5

Cove Cottage is exactly as described in the information provided, very comfortable, well equipped, spotlessly clean. Although we did not meet the owners, Clare and Adrian, they made us feel very welcome, both in advance of our stay and in all the information provided in the cottage itself. And the bottle of wine and the cake waiting for us when we arrived were extremely welcome!

We appreciated the wifi and, although we did sometimes have mobile reception, the landline was helpful as I had to make a couple of calls which would have been difficult with dodgy mobile reception!

Our only two reservations are very personal preferences, and in no way intended as a criticism, but they might be helpful information for others. Because the cottage is a conversion from a barn, the small windows upstairs in the lounge/dining area/kitchen provide limited natural light. As a result we almost always needed the lights on and found the view out quite restricted. The cottage is opposite the beautiful Budle Bay from where it is possible to walk to Bamburgh along the coastal path. But to reach the bay and the path requires first crossing and walking along a fairly busy road with some blind bends...and some fast drivers!!

Having mentioned these personal reservations, we had a lovely week in a beautiful part of the country in a very very comfortable cottage with extremely welcoming hosts.

A home from home

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. It was equipped with everything you could possibly want. Everything was of a high standard. The hosts Claire & Adrian were lovely, waiting to greet us and leaving us with a lovely bottle of wine & a cake (thank you, both were delicious). We will definitely be back for a longer stay.

Cove Cottage is located in the most scenic area of the Northumberland coast, 200 yd from Budle Bay - which is part of the Lindisfarne Nature Reserve and 2 miles from the historic village of Bamburgh with its dramatic castle and miles of unspoilt beaches. There are miles of fantastic walks from the front door, no matter what time of year, it is spectacular! Visit the Farne Islands from Seahouses, 5 miles south. Holy Island is 14 miles north and is a very special place you will never forget so make some time if you can. Not much further north is Berwick-upon-Tweed with its indoor swimming pool with slide and wave machine. Alnwick Castle & Garden are 15 miles south, used as the film location for many films including 'Harry Potter', you would be sure to have a very interesting day out. Inland are the Cheviot Hills, unspoiled and stunning countryside leading to many border towns such as Wooler & Kelso, You are within a reasonable distance for a day trip to 'Hadrians Wall' travel by Rothbury (Cragside National Trust Property) and onto Chollerford for a journey you will not forget.
