Overview

About the property

Tiny house by Randy Jones, who has been featured on HGTV's Tiny House Hunters.

We would be thrilled to share our tiny house, custom made by HGTV featured builder Randy Jones of Incredible Tiny Homes, with you in the historic Todd community.

Our "tiny" sits by a charming old farm house and barn in a rural setting where the livestock and a small stream are your neighbors. Despite the remote feel, you are minutes from New River tubing, kayaking, fishing, and Railroad Grade road, where High Country locals and visitors alike flock for biking and jogging along the picturesque river. Downtown West Jefferson, and its thriving main street lined with the shops of local artisans, antique stores, and restaurants, including the popular Boondocks brewery, is 15 minutes away. Boone is a beautiful 25-minute drive away along HWY 194, a scenic North Carolina byway. It's a peaceful escape that's not too far out to keep you from indulging in all the High Country offers.

Our stylish tiny features a queen sleeping loft that is accessible by stairs--no ladder climbing required. A second loft has a futon sofa. It's a perfect reading nook that doubles as additional sleeping space. The living room has a custom sofa for watching the wall-mounted smart TV that includes hidden storage and also folds out for yet another extra sleeping option.

There are no compromises in the bath and kitchen of this tiny house. There's a 36-inch wide shower fed by a tankless water heater, plenty of hotel-style towels, and an environmentally friendly composting toilet. The kitchen features a large fridge and freezer, a four-burner range with oven, a farmhouse sink, and everything you need to make a meal if you decide to eat in.

Outdoors, in addition to the quiet stream, there is a rustic firepit featuring a reclaimed barnwood bench and a quiet, scenic mountain road perfect for walking Fido, should you desire to bring the dog.

If you've considered downsizing but want to try before you buy, or you just want an affordable getaway in an adorable small space, this is your opportunity to live tiny!

Absolutely perfect!

  • 5 of 5

The owners were wonderful and super responsive when we had question. The tiny house was extremely comfortable for me, my husband, and our dog to come back to after long days of hiking and had everything we needed. The drive to it from Boone was easy and entirely paved except for the short gravel driveway. If you like to watch TV in bed on rainy days, bring a laptop. The connection is great, but the TV only faces the couch. And the last step up to the bed is a little steep if you have any knee issues. But we loved it and have already recommended it to several people. Will be staying here again!

Owner's Response: I'm glad you had a good experience "living tiny," Rachel, and thanks for your review. That last step is a long one, though the couch converts to a bed down below if climbing them might be an issue. The TV will pivot 180 degrees so you can watch while preparing meals, but you're right that it can't be viewed well from the lofts. There are definitely some quirks with staying in a tiny house, but it's a unique and attractively priced option. :-)

Great Weekend Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

It was a unique and fun place to stay outside the norm of a hotel room. My son loved sleeping up in the lofts! The queen size mattress was thin; those with back issues might prefer the futon on the smaller loft. We loved being able to bring our dogs with us on vacation. The house was very clean and had all the amenities you would need. Great location, we enjoyed snow tubing and exploring the nearby towns.

Great rental for the weekend!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for the weekend to go to an ASU football game. It was an easy drive into Boone (30 minutes). It had more than enough space for my husband and I and our two small dogs. Great little kitchen area that let me cook anything we needed. All the amenities were great as well - good wifi, hot water in the shower, heater to warm the house up when it was cold at night. Compost toilet different at first but totally doable. The owner was super nice and easy to work with as well.

Perfect, Peaceful, Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Loved this place! Clean and comfy with everything you need for a great getaway. If you're worried about feeling confined in the tiny house, don't! The high ceilings make the house feel open and there's also great outdoor spaces to enjoy.

The owner is super attentive and accessible should you need anything at all.
